    i personally dont think that the show was put together in a month or so… i think that the work of the previous season was done with the time schedule of last paris fashion week fall time period & then this season was being worked on from then on. as much as i’d love for it to be a months work.. i dont think it is.
    that aside. great video bliss. keep up!

    Interesting point, in the early 1980s john Galliano did a similar thing to the men's shirt dress thing. He used a jumper and turned it into a dress, it was worn pretty much like a jumper but much lower, so the head hole was around the waist and the exess sleeves used as a cool bow at the back or just left to hang. He discovered the idea by simply putting on a jumper like a dress lol except I think he used corduroy for his final designs and it was pretty cool. It just reminded me of this shirt dress thing at 9.30 as it could be worn In the exact same way and looked very similar in a good way.

    There is an Italian designer, Averardo Bessi, who has been around since 1959 yet i cannot locate a single runway show for this successful design house. Any way you can dig up info on why this is?

    • @BlissFoster
      @BlissFoster  Před rokem +1

      Runway shows from that era are not very well documented. The company themselves might still have old images for internal purposes, but I couldn’t find anything either. It’s really unfortunate, there’s a lot of designers from before the 90s that were doing excellent work but there’s very little documentation 😞

    im relatively new to the fashion scene, but it seems to me margiela isnt special for the garments he produced, rather his progressiveness in pushing the concept of couture and runway shows. It looks like he expresses his artistic vision through the runway, and not so much through the clothes. i know the youtube comment section is a bad place to ask, but id love if someone could link me to platforms dedicated to the discussion of high end, more avante-garde fashion

    • @canadey97
      @canadey97 Před 3 lety +7

      I would say Margiela is possibly one of the most avant garde designers of all time. Maybe avant garde isn’t what you’re looking for?

      If you want to look into how the clothes are being made or the designs behind them, Iris Van Herpen and her dressmaking is a good reference point, but like the first dude said Margiela Runways are about as avant-garde as it gets.

    • @bodincastell1263

      People always say McQueen or Comme or Galliano etc. Obvious when these are now Big names pimping a memory. Try looking at John Flett, Romeo Gigli, Koji Tatsuno, Miguel Androver, Owen Gaster and Paul Harnden . Fascinating works that are creative and experimental, also the back story to the artists themselves is interesting.
