Let me know your thoughts on Egypt!
I am doing my own research before I plan a trip to Egypt, currently the US State Dept, is issue a warning for US citizens about traveling due to the conflict situation in Israel. I'm careful but still going it's a dream of mine to see all the wonders of Egypt. I found out that, October till December are the perfect times to visit, the sun won't be so hot. I have not plan everything yet but I am seeing most people bought tickets to ride along the Nile River by boat with stops along to see most of the sites, one video mention to bring plenty of one's dollar bills, US cash is like gold there, also it will help you along the way. Can you elaborate about the airport and customs and getting your VISA permit ? Maybe a brush on Egyptian phrases/language.
Great insight Jake!
Thank you!
Some great insights here, Jake! Thanks for making the video. It's what you said: seems pretty rough in terms of hawking and scamming but you can't skip it. Just gotta read the fine print and make sure you're dealing with the right people. Cheers!
Yupp that’s exactly right! I’m happy you found it insightful 😁. I appreciate your comment 🙌🏻
Nice! Thank you for sharing your experience from ❤💯 - ExpatSofa -. 👍
Thank you 😁
Very well don
Thank you!
People forget that there are unsafe areas where you live. You gotta pay attention there too. Overseas is typically tougher because the lahguage barrier but the same principles apply.
Trust me I don't forget that there are unsafe areas here too! I think USA is one of the most unsafe countries I've visited.
@@JakeBraymiller I would have to agree. I feel like people here always assume traveling is so unsafe and I'm like there's places 30mins from me I won't drive alone at night. Just because it's familiar doesn't make it safe. Wish more people realized this.
@@Neonravekid Very true! I agree and appreciate your opinions :)
Nothing to do with safety! Egyptians take advantage of tourists kindness. You feel bad not buying but they scam you when you do. You are Harassed while walking on the street. I had to stop and politely asked to be left alone ..
This guy is spot on and that’s why I will NEVER go the Egypt again. Every place is the same. If you go to one you will see they all are the same
Thank you for your thoughts! I’m glad you agree with my takes
I feel pressured into liking this video, I just came here to learn about Egypt 😮 lol
Hahah no pressure here
Lool
😂
It would be helpful if you gave an example of what you mean by 'small bills'. I wouldn't want to insult the locals by not knowing. Many thanks
10, 20, 50. A 1 or a 5 would be low. For tours tip more with 100s/200s
Can you tell me how to get a visa to go there? I live in Iowa, and heard I need a visa. I do have a passport though.
It’s super easy actually! All you do is show up with a passport and right before going through customs you buy a visa for $25 in cash. It takes like 2 minutes
I heard of people getting denied, so are there any trick questions you have to answer or should be prepared to answer?
Sounds like a horrible experience. Thanks for the info. I won’t be going to Egypt anytime soon.
What currency did you use? Did you use credit cards or currency primarily?
Mostly Egyptian pounds in cash!
@@JakeBraymiller very helpful video! Ty!
I wanted to wait and by oils by the market. But yes, some tour guides will take you places to pay dollars. Not cool.
The ancient Egyptians built the largest pyramid in history and established their civilization for thousands of years
A place that I will never ever come back anymore 😂
Haha it definitely can be challenging!
The harassment sounds awful.
They are very persistent! You need to be confident and not let it get to you
Not really true that you will meet masses of tourists in major sights in Egypt. Not at all.
Luxor- applies to all sights there: few tourists actually stay in Luxor. like 80% visitors of major sights come on day trips from Hurghada by buses at certain hours.
Rest of the day, Valley of the kings, Karnak temple, Hatshepsut.... very few people. If you see masses of tourists when you arrive, have a lunch somewhere and wait 1.5 hour, then go- all tourists on day trips from Hurghada will be gone as their buses need to follow same 'pack all Luxor sights into 6 hours' schedule (no comment:):).
Cairo/Giza pyramids.... true, there is allways tons of tourists. But you can take a taxi to pyramids in Dashur....about 30km from Giza, Both bent pyramid&Red pyramid are just bit smaller than 2 pyramids in Giza(103m height vs 137m), and you will 'share' whole area with may be 10 other tourists. Really. PLUS Dashur pyramids have much more 'authentic' feel thanks to location in deserted place and lack of crowds. Also interior of bent pyramid is much more impressive than the one inside the Great Pyramid. Once you see Dashur pyramids, you will see that this is whole new level of experience compared to Giza pyramids. Pure magic compared to mass rourist experience;)
Thanks for sharing these insights!!
I THINK THE BEST WAY TO AVOID THESE SCANNER A AVOID THEM
Haha kind of hard to avoid for an entire trip
No toilet paper in washing rooms
Why are so many people nasty? I’m looking forward to my trip and will enjoy myself. If you can’t go w a positive attitude then stay home.
That guy that followed you is scamming you, theres lots of scammers when they see tourists
Do not go to India it's the same way
Yeah are lots of scams in Egypt sadly
You really tipped that guy, dude why I never tip them, bathroom, nope, you got scammed dude wake up
Haha. When you don’t speak the language and you know these people depend on tips so much, sometimes we just give in. True, scamming is way to common. I will go with a different guide next time. Lol.
