A few factoids on this siren: This siren was drafted and created between 1982 and the early 1990s. EOWS stands for Electronic Outdoor Warning Siren. Many people also call this a SiraTone, though, that's only the name of a series of controllers that Federal Signal created. For those that thought just 6 horns were creepy: it only gets worse. There existed models with 4 horns and 8 horns, respectively named the EOWS 408 and EOWS 816. There even exists the EOWS 1212 that has 12 speakers. This time, however, two sets of 6 sit on top of each other and fan out in all directions. Why does this siren sound so creepy? It's using a controller called the Federal Signal SiraTone controller. In a metal cabinet below the siren, this controller receives radio messages to activate the siren, and then generates a signal that is sent to the head of the siren, where powerful amplifiers louden the sound and make some noise!
This is my favorite model of siren in the category of electronic sirens with rotation. In general, I like how the rotating siren sounds fade in and out, especially in the ATTACK mode (wail tone).
Imagine he says oodles, they're going off a minute in advance and then you see a couple MIRVS come down. That would be funny but more so just fucking scary
Gave me goose bumps. She sounds AMAZING. It's odd the timing was different with all the sirens. Gotta say that I loved hearing the other sirens in the background. Might not have if this one delayed. Great video
My town uses this siren to call volunteer fire fighters, I used to sit out in my front yard and listen to it and then hear all the sirens as the cars roll out of the station
@zozey1231 Nope, that's more like just what happens to those old analog tone generators in older electronic sirens as they age, mainly from things such as capacitors beginning to dry out. The EOWS series is notorious for massive pitch fluctuations while running, and 95% of them will slowly drop in pitch throughout their alert cycle (though a few have been found that actually rise in pitch over the duration of the signal).
Kere Vallire Well the one in twin lakes park is. I see a 2001 on the pole of that one in google earth. And the one in this video in this video is no where to be seen, therefore the city replaced them.
I literally heard this recently when I was down the shore and Hermine was off the coast. Scared me to death. I thought a tidal wave was coming. Apparently there was just some minor flooding from the rain in the neighboring town, but wow was it creepy to hear live
I am glad you stuck around for the test. I do not know if my last comments got posted - do you know what the tones mean that go along with the test pattern? Not the actual siren, but the tones after she announces the test.
I love the HOR super sirex cuz it surprisingly gets this loud and ik cuz I live pretty much down the street from one in Holyoke Massachusetts I stood like 40 or 50 feet away and still got vertigo😂
People say the one in Chicago is broken but it's been like that for so long that its basically our siren. Be there's one "broken" one in Missouri i think it's from 2007 footage
i want federal signal to start producing EOWS again, it ticks me off that they don't make them any more, it could replace my area's tsunami siren! (a model 5 i think).
ah yes, ive always wanted to hear an ariana grande concert, thank you.
The "Stop fucking around outside and get the fuck inside, NOW!" siren.
lol
*Man* "Huh, nothing.."
*Siren* "ARHHHHGHGHGHGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"
Lol

why m I so obsessed with watching these??
Air sirens are really loud, but speaker sirens are creepier. (This siren is a speaker siren)
Yeah, this is one of the best/creepiest siren vids imo. At least that I've seen.
Electronic Air Raid Siren
Emergency I-forgot-the-O Warning Siren
You haven't heard anything listen to the video of the eows 612 in Livonia michigan
+ShadowStalker Electronic Outdoor Warning System=EOWS
+Maxi Mustermanny Sorry, not System, it's siren
Wow. That is the most eerie sound yet. I'm sure it sent a psychological effect to everyone when they heard it.
Samuel Moser they use it in Chicago
Samuel Moser but they use alternative wail
Samuel Moser I heard one of these, before...it sounds more like a cop car's siren, or a sound of an ambulance.
they dont use them in chicago
[myst]goldwolfgamer888x: they use modulators that do alternate wail
Every time i hear a siren one thing goes through my mind: Its the end of the world.
The first thing that comes to mind is, I gotta get to the fire station.
sameee
The first thing comes to my mind is: oh, the fun thing is here.
Holy moly you think same thing as me
*and i feel fine...*
"Hmmmmm....nuthin. *siren goes off*
That's an XD moment right there!
I like the sirens that spin, I think it is better because it spins and gets the alert out better.
This is my favorite model of siren in the category of electronic sirens with rotation. In general, I like how the rotating siren sounds fade in and out, especially in the ATTACK mode (wail tone).
Needs more Silent Hill style horns
The siren may look silly but it sounds almost like a Thunderbolt in attack mode.
I never understood why the 612 is the "favorite" among siren fans...mine are sentries because they look freaky
That is a very creepy noise, I would not like to wake up to that in the morning!
Or 3:00 AM!
The EWOS 612 is definitely one of the creepiest sounding sirens out there
The sound that the other ones made in the background was kind of creepy
Imagine he says oodles, they're going off a minute in advance and then you see a couple MIRVS come down. That would be funny but more so just fucking scary
Gave me goose bumps. She sounds AMAZING. It's odd the timing was different with all the sirens. Gotta say that I loved hearing the other sirens in the background. Might not have if this one delayed. Great video
I love these because they are about the only electronic siren that sounds like a mechanical siren!
this has a great tone! love it!
My town uses this siren to call volunteer fire fighters, I used to sit out in my front yard and listen to it and then hear all the sirens as the cars roll out of the station

3:28, okay now that sounded incredible!
The other night, I had a dream that the siren in my town was replaced with one of these.
This siren is sadly now gone as well as the cities other EOWS and replaced with a 2001-130.
ummm, not it's not
Kere Vallire Well the one in twin lakes park is. I see a 2001 on the pole of that one in google earth. And the one in this video in this video is no where to be seen, therefore the city replaced them.
ChicagoSirens I went past it 2 days ago, it's still there.
Bait28 Which one? I know the one in the park is gone.
ChicagoSirens This is next to the rail lines
I live near an Air Force base so every time there is a siren test It scares the living day lights out of me.
this is the best sounding EOWS sir atone i have ever heard!!
4:19 oh yeah baby lol 😂
Like right after you said nothing it turned on
Brian Hare siren:yeah that's what u think starts goin off
EOWS 612 is the most beautiful thing ever created by the USA. This siren is the reason I love the USA!
Nice siren, I always still pine for the ground shaking feeling of the old Thunderbolt 1003.
A beautiful sound
it's going to be great and its one of my favorite sirens
A pretty siren. It sounds awesome.
One of my favourite sirens made by eows
Hmm. I live in Memphis, we used to have one of these in a park I live close to. It was taken down and replaced by a Federal Signal 2001, idk why
Best sounding electronic siren ever made.
It's due to the aging capacitors. They drift while running due to age. Drivers worked just fine(None sounded burned out)
God imagine have the control over that Chad of a siren
this is the alert tone, i believe. my favorite siren is the thunderbolt
My favorite siren yet I love it
Being in an area that doesn't have tornado sirens, I can never truly appreciate how loud these things are. When do cities usually test their sirens?
different in every city, most by me are first Tuesday ever month 10AM
Bait28 thanks for the quick reply
Where is that siren?
RoBLOXXER TM OMG
inga Povilaitiene what?
Looks cool the alarm pole head thingy!

I just woke up literally and I’m listening to this
Thats a nice 3x2 lego piece you got there.
Nice System sound I love it.
>.< that one siren when it moved scared me so bad! xc

Awesome! I love Siratones!
Ah... The infamous chigago siren
ONE OF MY FAVORITES
*the moment you stop the video, but it keeps going. O__O'''*
Cinderfur Drawz Old not funny joke.
Head down bunker and wait for the tornado to pass or just hide.
@@authority3068 its not original, but its still funny
Authority i was gonna say that
Super original. -69
That siren you were wondering in the background sounds like a ASC RM-130. Those are pretty rare sirens.
Imagine sitting inside during a thunderstorm, talking to your family, and then you hear that
That shake of the camera when the siren turned on tho lol
My fav speaker siren
I love the HOR super sirex cuz it surprisingly gets this loud and ik cuz I live pretty much down the street from one in Holyoke Massachusetts I stood like 40 or 50 feet away and still got vertigo😂
This is my fav siren!
Mine is the yellow one with a turtle shell like dome on top.
love the way these look they look like 6 megaphones attached to a box it looks so cool
There are still a few of these in Warren, OH. Not sure if they still are in use, but, they are still there.
I love electric sirens like these
3:49 "She's a rotator & she's loud." Did you hear that??
Siratone drops in pitch but holds it well.
i live next to one of these of 59th st, last week it got stuck and ran for 35 minutes, but they are the coolest soundin alarms
🤣 he flinched when the siren finally started. Do not blame him.
When ever I hear any siren I see nuclear explosions in my head.
Yes ,when they stop you are waiting ICBM explosions 😣
Nice. I found one in Tinton Falls, NJ
To me it looks like a bunch of speakers
Ikr it does look like a bunch of speakers
XeX Chris it has 6 speakers
Siren noobs lol.
it does lmao
guava meme no 12 drivers not 6
@HomeSkillet489 Steady is tornado, Wailing is for Civil defense(yes we still use it)
they used to, it had an official discontinuation in 04 or 06.
It sounds like a carter air raid siren winding down
Or a thunderbolt
sounds dual toned. reminds me of the dual toned 3016 that was in livonia
we have 1 in our whole island, it's for prison. (Long Island)
Yep. We also have 1212s too, don't forget.
Marlon Vasquez wait what no way!
Really? I sometimes take a vacation! I wanna see it!
When they have a 2-tone pitch that goes high and low, it sounds like a german police car, which I kinda like.
My favorite siren
I don't tend to like electronic sirens. But this one has a nice mechanical like sound.
My dad used to live by one of these, but they took it down and opted for what else, than an FS2001. A brown one for some reason.
In Madison county we have a EOWS 612.
Battle creek, MI has 2 EOWS 612s.
People say the one in Chicago is broken but it's been like that for so long that its basically our siren. Be there's one "broken" one in Missouri i think it's from 2007 footage
Eows 612 is my favorite electric siren.
ACA cyclone is my favorite mechanical siren.
120?
That echo is awesome
TheCrazyGamer66 Mendes Of corse is that awsome
Me:*pauses it* *hears sirens* why do I still hear them
It scared me when it went back on
That sounds so cool
That is so awesome cool I heard a STH-10 and RM 130
And a 2001
the wind down sounds like thunderbolt 1003 without a blower
I used to freak out whenever I heard the tornado siren
That will perpare us for the real situation
Eows612: hey vortex how are your collector rings doin
That scared the CRAP out of me at 4:14😂
i love the sound
i want federal signal to start producing EOWS again,
it ticks me off that they don't make them any more,
it could replace my area's tsunami siren! (a model 5 i think).
Sometimes it takes a moment.
at 4:15 it is the hazardous materials siren (for nuke attacks, power plant failure, etc)
***** No it's not
Bait28 what is it for then? In my area, that's the siren for hazardous materials...
***** Tornado & Civil Defense
Bait28 ah okay, that tone is better then the tornado siren in my area, it is just a single tone siren that gets kinda hard to hear.
@@lawncraft3868 some warn all of them SOME not all
Maybe it was a day were they test the sirens so everyone knows what to do and how it sounds.for some that wonder.
