This is extremely enjoyable, watching the gradual progression and build out.
Watching you use all the skills, hacks and experience you've learned over the years is really inspiring.
...Plus, that roll-out shelving unit is wicked!
I think that there's something deeply philosophical about that "LET GLUE DRY" steel block. In projects like this (and most other things in life) you can't get decent results if you try to rush or force things. Sometimes you just have to wait for things to happen and events to unfold and plan around the things you can not affect or change.
That said I hereby petition to have "LET GLUE DRY" t-shirts and stickers in Laura's shop and I definitely need a miniature version of that block as a paperweight for my desk.
I am VERY on board with this idea! The "Let Glue Dry" block deserves more recognition!
I was thinking the same thing! A Let Glue Dry white on black tshirt would look amazing
My absolute favorite part of this video is when you get a smile on your face after something comes together nicely. You’re just so pleased with yourself and how it turns out, and I totally know that feeling. It’s one of my favorites things. Well done on the door!
So satisfying when it all fits together! ☺️💪
Would this door prevent gases from exiting a room? I'm looking to get rid of lice
Me too did you try this one yet? I found some on a german website they say they’re tried and tested might give them a try!
@noxvi4753 Those claims seem far-fetched to me but who am I to question their narrative?
The trick you used to cut the curved part of the door with a small piece of wood was really nice. I am looking forward to seeing the camper progress every week.
Love the Dutch door action. Hope Smudo appreciates all the hard work that went into his window.
The split door became a thing after the “Duty on Lights and Windows” late 17th century, as it was classified as door, but could act as a window.
Thanks for this video. I am a third generation residential carpenter and lifelong woodworker. Im getting ready to build a set of arched french doors for a new client and i learned a lot from this video.
What a beautiful door. Especially that you built it in one piece and then cut it in half is amazing
Lovely job. My daughter indignantly pointed out that "she needs a handle". I told her you will have this under control for sure! Thanks for sharing
Erictheviking ! Looks like the man with the bandaged hand needs your daughter’s advice instead.
Great video. Love the beat of the music, awesome choice. My favorite part of your videos is that smile you make in the middle of a project when things are fitting together. We all do it. We all know that feeling. That's the best feeling during a project to have.
loved the build, as I always do. Loved the secret tips- hot melting the slab to a planed face, sawdust mixed with glue. Those kinds of little details, shared without a word, whereas other makers need to make a whole video just about them, jabbering away. Thanks again!
It was excellent !! 👍😎Great memories. I was watching the video and remembering my father ... He was an excellent joiner and carpenter.
Not only him, but all my uncles, cousins, brothers and me. We are a large family of carpenters, joiners and sawmills.
Good Sunday Laura 🌼🌸
The Love of Woodworking by Laura
Applause 👏 Nicely made perfection.
I would shake your hand any time. 🤝
7:26 That smile of satisfaction is lovely, you are so very talented.
I love that along with the way she runs her finger or thumb over the piece she's just been working on. 'Definitely into it.
So happy to see it was for the camper. My 3 year old daughter said "That was a good movie".
You are a badass! That was so fun to watch. I have been pondering building my own front door to my house. I promised my wife I would start with a new door on our house 6 years ago. What I didnt know was how many things needed attention first in our home and that both of us would go back to school to get our masters degrees at the same time. We will both be Nurse Practitioners soon! This has inspired me to do a little something to relax after almost 4 years of school. I'm gonna build it after I take my national board certification. But before I start my new career at age 45! Thank you for sharing your work! Keep it up!
the 5:08 smile when everything went together is priceless!!
Great work on this door
I'm sorry, I'm so behind. BUT, I'm LOVING this series. It's great to see it all coming together.
Yeah, ok! Now you are showing off!! ha ha! Really nice video and great job on the door. Thanks Laura!
That polystyrene jig saw trick though.... 🤯
Right??? I never would've thought of that. I would've fumbled with the oiece, precariously balancing between messing up my work and losing a finger. This solution seems so onvious, I feel kinda dumb, haha.
I know! I saw it in her stories and... well, my life changed that day!
You can do a similar technique with insulating foam and a circular saw: put the foam on the ground, your large sheet of ply on top and then make your blade barely deeper than the wood you're sawing.
I love the way you edit your videos.. the music, angles etc.... great on a Sunday morning...
Idk how 140 people could dislike this video.
You are quite a craftsman! Great to see someone who takes pride in their work.
Woodworker, metal fab, and on and on. A Jack oops, Jill of all trades. Such a joy to watch.
This kind of door is called "Klönschnack-Tür" in northern Germany. Was build for old houses....so called "Friesenhaus".
Greetings from a small village near Flensburg / Germany
I came for the joinery, and stayed for the language lesson. I'll probably end up forgetting this, but thank you for the additional vocabulary :)
Or shorter a Klöntür a little further south. At least around here, the traditional way of building those seems to have mostly been a tilted cut rather than the additional strip of wood - obviously, either works just fine.
Called a stable door in other places. Perfect to let in air but keep in the dog!
I enjoy watching people get things done, especially when they make it look easy. You do that.
Great Dutch door! Nice craftswomanship!👍✌️😊🙏🏼⚒
10:53 Smudo looking out of the glass! How cool!
Yes, he looked so happy. I wonder if Laura will make a scaled-down version of the door for Smudo?
3:42 Such a cool shot! Awesome job, the door is beautiful! And so happy Smudo used his lookout window. I laughed so hard when I watched your story and you tried to get him to use it and he just walked out the other side you said “Dammit!”. 😂😂😂 Anyway, fantastic work!
I am amused that she named her dog after a 90's German hip hop artist..hallo hu hu ich bin der Schmu, wer bist du?
Stable door for the horse trailer: How fitting!
The wiki article is interesting. Explains the whole bricked up windows as well to avoid the tax, ready to be reglazed when the tax went away. Some called it a tax on "light and air" which does make it sound even crazier.
That was perfect. Your craftsmanship is out of this world. I watched this twice and love the way you created a door fitting with the theme of your trailer. Thank you for sharing your video and have a fantastic week! 👍
Loved the look out for Smudo the second I saw it's a clear window on the bottom part :D
Nice Projekt. Was gibt es schöneres als Sonntags Kaffee trinken und dabei Laura's neuste Arbeit zu bewundern.
I like the way you set up your shots, the good mix between detailed and wide shots.
I love Smudo.
I love how you built in a little low window for your dog!
the smile on your face every time something works or the pieces fit together 🙂🙂🙂
Your videos always inspire me to continue making things and being creative! So excited to see how the camper turns out!
If you can't see the beauty in this then you have no soul! Gorgeous!
I've seen all sorts of tricks for jointing a board face with a planer, but that hot glue trick is definitely the most efficient and simple.
Most impressive build!! Even Smudo has a window to the world!
Really enjoying watching this come together, it's such a great overall project but each part of it is great on its own as well.
Like the polly blocks, great idea.
Awesome Laura. You are in total control of ur craft.
I learn something every day. Today it's Laura's plywood reference for planing. Ingenious.
Girl you got the coolest music. If there was a best picture Oscar for woodworking videos this would be it. Coolest video I’ve seen.
You make it look easy ! Neat and clean too.
i like the quiet wood work videos. if i can not work out how to make something from watching you make something . then i should really be making something easier first, to practise until im good enough to understand how to make what you are making.
That looks absolutely amazing! But your constant smile about it coming together is even better to watch. You just made my day.
Looking forward to the next in the series Laura!! Can’t wait to see how the layout inside is managed..Should be coming soon
AMAZING WORK LAURA! I love to see that smile and look fo accomplishment on your face when you see things are coming together like you planned. 🙂👍🏼
Excellent, EXCELLENT work either for how it came and for the really sharp solutions you adopted, not to mention the evident satisfaction from your smile at every passage.
Nice carpentry :) and quite enjoyable to watch, greets from Stuttgart 💚
Beautiful build! Love the Dutch doors. I built a Dutch door for our nursery room before our first child was born. The idea was to provide ventilation and be able to hear the baby while keeping our two year old Doberman Pinscher out of the room (just in case). Two days after the baby came home, the dog was missing. Found that our Dobie had leaped over the lower section of the door and was curled up beside the crib protecting the baby. Our son and the dog were bonded for the next eleven years.
Cool hack gluing the wood to the plywood for a reference face:)
Scrolled through looking for this comment so I wouldn't make a redundant comment...that is a cool technique.
@@noremorsewoodworking2258 you're from the UK? In the US the terminology is a bit different. We call a thicknesser a plane, and a plane a jointer!
The reason she glued the style to the piece of plywood is because it was twisted. Otherwise most of what she does leaves me scratching my head.
Nice! A Dutch door (that what I've always known them as) for the camper is a great idea. Additionally, I really dig the sign on the wall that says, "Every defect gets repsect". Being I have numerous "defects" I can identify with that sentiment. At least, I'm 93% sure that's what it says.
You are an inspiration, I love your work. Please make a beginner series for those who want to enter the realm of makers but have close to zero their experience working with wood, metal and other materials and tools
Awesome work Laura! Love it, and enjoyed the premier launch. Thanks for another great video! Set my inspiration off nicely for a day of making myself now. 🙌🏻😊
I like Smudo's window, nice touch.
That is so cool!!! Even a window for Smudo.
Hallo Laura, es macht richtig Spaß Dir zu zusehen. Diese Zufriedenheit und das glückliche Lächeln, einfach toll.
Übrigens, klasse Tür.
Excellent work Laura, congrats.
So much joy in this video. Thank you Laura!
A perfect addition to the tiny home/ tourer. Looking good!!!
Looks like oak doors . Beautiful .Now time for inside work. Thank you Laura !
What a "meisterstück"!!! Laura! I don't get those thumbs down...I'm in love with your work❤️😉😍👍❤️🙏🤩
It is such a beautiful thing when all the pieces fit together and make such a lovely door!
It is obvious that you are doing the work you love, you seem so relaxed and at peace with the world around you!! Your attention to detail is so refreshing.
Andy Jones Siemens South Africa pensioner.
I have been to Germany on two occasions and I love your country. Muenchen city of my dreams, Franconia, Erlangen, Nurnburg, Berlin, Hamburg, Bremen. I also visited Salzburg, not forgetting Prien am Chiemsee. Frankfurt alt stadt. Sehr sehr schoen!!!!
A very, very accomplished build. You look very proud, Laura and so you should!
Fantastic skills Laura! Looking forward to the finished trailer. Stay safe and keep busy!
You have such awesome skills, Laura! I never get tired of watching you work the wood.
thanks for sharing. Felix
Aah a dutch barn door, best feature: the schmuck smiley of a job well done .😃🇳🇱
Quite a project with a ton of complexity to it. My deepest respect, as always. All the best from Duisburg.
Great project and video. Music is on point. Looking forward to seeing the trailer progress.
Design and precision, Laura you are world class. Fantastic as always.
Sehr sehr schönes projekt. Den trick mit der spenglerschraube finde ich sehr gut. Einfach und mega effektiv.
Laura, your work and creativity are over the top with this build! What a great looking door and your craftsmanship is amazing! Thanks for posting, inspiring for sure :^)
Very cleaver build, long and straight build cut in half...Luv'it. The hot melt glue to plywood milling is genus!! And a usual, beautiful job on the video.
The door looks almost built except then it gets cut in half -- Ach du Lieber! Nice video that, um, speaks for itself. : ) Sweet!
Nice job Laura, great craftsmanship. Do you also notice that when you have done something that was totally new and it works, that you have to go back and look at it again and again. This definitely looks like one of those cases. Proper job 👍
Beautiful work Laura 👍👌
Thats woodworking master skill s 👏👏👏
Well done! I really love the Smudo window! Thanks.
Super nice! And my favorite video of the day. I learned a few things and the video just made me happy.
Awesome work Laura! 😃👍🏻👊🏻
Beautiful door. How do I like to see the way you work.
Smudo hate trailers. Even bigger ones 😂 Stay safe
Remarkable young lady, a real artisan. A joy to watch such skill.
That's so well done!
That’s a pretty solid looking door. I like the way the arch on the door matches in with the arch of the roof.
I didn't read the video description, I saw the video and excitedly clicked. When you laid your saw on it to cut it in half. I said to my computer screen "No! What are you doing?" Then it dawned on me, split door, cool idea.
Love that kind of door! Great Vid!
Absolutely awesome 👍 and it shows very good how „modern“ tools can simplify the work compared to the traditional way of building a door. Both has its benefits but with the right tools you save a lot of time. Cheers
I learn so much from watching your videos. Enjoy every one I watch.
Thanks for making and sharing them.
Nice work ! and a bunch of so great tools !
Some very good tips there. Thank you. Lovely job!
Awesome you do some very nice work love your videos, and your dog 🐕 love him please continue with the awesome videos
the author does like to from scratch, shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. czcams.com/users/postUgkxD-QRFQz730FJEh4f9BYSf-nkIMIC9hL_ as another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us dont have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we wont be able to practice the full stack project, is still great.
