    Brilliant, this worked for me as well, my first attempt was to just remove the cables hoping it would do some sort of reset but yeah, the capacitor was the culprit. I do recommend taking out a side speaker for easier wire handling, but there is a seal holding it together so it takes a bit of pressure to remove.

    INCREDIBLE! Thank you SO much for this video.
    I was ready to get rid of my speaker because it wouldn't charge or turn on no matter what I did when I found this video and it completely fixed everything. I removed one of the speakers on the side and it helped a lot with adjusting the wires as well as using heated tweezers to pry off the transistor at the end.
    A few things need a bit of pressure to remove but in the end everything worked out perfectly and my speaker's working good as new!! Thank you again!

    Bought this speaker 4 months ago and this exact thing happened. no lights, not charging. contacted ultimate ears and they walked me through some troubleshooting and nothing worked and they were wonderful and honored the warranty and sent me a replacement. I have NO experience taking apart electronics but with a replacement in hand I realized I have nothing to lose, I tried this fix and it WORKED perfectly! Don't forget to unclip the bottom cap to pull the whole inside mechanism out and definitely remove a speaker to undo the wires! Looks like the seal on the speaker is to keep it waterproof so don't expose it to water after this fix! thanks so much for sharing!!!! It absolutely saved my speaker from the trash and only took 30 min for a newbie!

      Hi. The capacitor basically turns in to a wire and stops the speaker from powering up and charging. It is possible the capacitor is ok in your speaker as you are getting a red flashing light. If you have not done already, use a different charger and lead. Check the USB socket on the speaker to make sure no pins are damaged. I've also had the battery go bad in these speakers. You may also have a different charging board in your speaker but I've not been able find the problem with that board.

      Hi. That board does not have that capacitor so I think it is a different problem. I have one here that was dead so I charged the battery in another speaker and I plugged it in and the speaker worked. However I then found that if I plugged in the charger, sometimes it will charge. I'm yet to find out what is causing the problem but I do know it is not the usb socket in my case.

    I'll give it a crack. Mine is the newer version, but as you said, it could be the same issue.

    What is the function of that capacity and what caused its failure?

    • @clintlipscomb7532
      @clintlipscomb7532 Před 3 lety +2

      I'm not sure it is for as I can't get a circuit diagram. I'm guessing it is for filtering the USB supply while charging. I think it fails because a capacitor with a higher working voltage should have been used. I'm not an expert so am only guessing.

      @@clintlipscomb7532 I am guessing it is something like that, too. It is funny how removing a component fixes something. It seems like it might be acting as sort of a backwards fuse.

    • @clintlipscomb7532
      @clintlipscomb7532 Před 3 lety

      I think the battery is about 1600mAH. The specs say the battery lasts about 10 hours but when I tested the speakers after repair. they have lasted up to 13 hours.
