I absolutely love mine, same exact model. There are actually 23 different version of the Buck Mark at the moment. This sweet shooter is everything you said & more! It's like a blank canvas ready too paint when it comes to all the sweet upgrades that are available for it. Thanks for the entertaining & insightful review!

Every Buck Mark has this plastic top strap/sight base, held in place by two hex screws that are also serving to hold the slide down. The two screws are notorious to back out on their own under recoil, even with the factory washers in place, or coated in blue Loctite. When the screws are too loose, the sight base floats up, the slide won't run properly and you'd start getting stoppages. This happened if I shot 500 rounds or so without cleaning or checking the sight base. I had a Buck Mark Camper (non-UFX, without slide ears) bought new in 2009. Other than that, it shot fine.

Neither of my two Buckmark pistols have a plastic topstrap.

They are metal now. The screws need a drop of blue loc-Tite, or just put a bit of fishing line in the screw hole
vertical alongside the screw before you tighten. Still check every cleaning. I love this feature, just unscrew
one and the barrel screw & put on different length barrels, bull or slab sided, scope mount base or red dot already installed & make it anything you want.
