  • Dr. John Kean, a prominent voice on Australian First Nations art, was recently interviewed by Louise Neri, a New York-based Australian curator, editor, and writer in the first of Talk Series to take place in our New York gallery.
Dr. Kean’s most recent book, Dot, Circle & Frame: The Making of Papunya Tula Art (2023) was the topic of the evening’s discussion, and he spoke about how the course of Australian art changed in 1971 when Kaapa Tjampitjinpa, Tim Leura Tjapaltjarri, Clifford Possum Tjapaltjarri and Johnny Warangula Tjupurrula were central to the formulation of a radical new form of desert art.
