  • Horizon Signal, not nearly as tedious as one may think. It's been a while coming as the script was sitting on my desk. But finally, here it is.

      Syncretic Evolution, Spiritualist, and not changing your entire species helps with this. Spiritualist has huge governing ethics attraction, syncretic evolution friends are not effected by the ethics shift, and not changing your entire species keeps out colonies in line. Once your home world calms down the precursor sub species is very useful. A side benefit if you are an Empire, if you don't change your whole species your ruling family stays as your 'original' species, which comes in handy later once your capitol species becomes repugnant.

  • @Silverraptorvideos
    @Silverraptorvideos Před 7 lety +78

    I had the worm appear in my last playthrough and I made preparations for it. It's best with a species that is collectivist and repugnant and you get the evolutionary traits already done, like adding thrifty to your species before doing this event. It will make all your species individualist with repugnant and intelligent on top of what you already had, so if you expect to encounter this chain one day, having a repugnant species and one that doesn't have intelligent from the beginning pays off big. Also make sure you have everything from the collectivist ethos that reduces ethics divergence. I managed to get -76% ethics divergence on all my planets when all my species went individualist, including orbital mind control platforms. After the change, try to avoid any war and let ethics divergence bring your species back to its original ethos (Mine was collectivist/Fanatic Xenophobic) It took about 100 years for all my species to go back, but I had a bunch of tomb world planets in my home system to develop, a species with the most amount of trait abilities added to it (Repugnant/Decadent/Very Strong/Thrifty/Intelligent/Resilient) and they were all back to the enslaving/purging species I was before the event chain. To get back to normal from start to finish took me a little over 150 years, but I had a large enough military to keep all the other species in the galaxy from declaring war at the time of great unrest from individualism, where you'll be at your most vulnerable. But afterwards your species will be the strongest in the galaxy if you can pull it off.
    Also, the spiral feed power hub is incredibly good. Yes you get a slight reduction in happiness but the extra energy credit bonus is greater then the regular power hub. Just remember it counts as a power hub, so if you have the powerhub built on planets already, you'll need to dismantle it before you can build the spiral feed power hub.

    • @jakubecz
      @jakubecz Před 7 lety +8

      both give 20% bonus if we can have faith in the ingame desrciption. So the spiral feed actually doesn't give any bonus, and reduces your happyness by 5%. total waste.

    • @Silverraptorvideos
      @Silverraptorvideos Před 7 lety

      Ah, okay. Only difference is it takes only 100 minerals to get the spiral feed whereas to get the powerhub II, it'll take a combined total of 350 minerals. So if you are very conscious on your mineral total, I guess using the Spiral feed is a good substitute until you have a good mineral income again. Very rare circumstance, but a possibility.

      My pops were fanatic pacifists + spiritualists ... so the most powerful combination to start with if you want to go into expansionism having a really large empire. I just finished the event chain too soon. My people all turned into fanatic militarists (which is cool for mid and late game if you want some action) and got the intelligent trait (+10% science bonus to all 3 sections) too. Unfortunatly I didn't know they would leave my people with negative points in traits, so after I wanted to change them I realized it would have been much better to do this event chain after researching all trait points and modifying your people.

    I had this happend in my 2nd round playing this game. I choose first to embrace the worm because I wanted to see what happens but I wasn't really happy with it(since it didn't really "fit" my species or did it?) so I just loaded a save before it and killed it.
    Though a few other things happend to me than in your video. First I never got the change species on my captial or purge them thing. And another thing happened to me on a colony (I did not find the structers people was afraid of). My people started to disappear but others took their place, they were not in any records of the colonists who lived on the planet but all of them sweared that they where my people and something must be wrong and that they do not undestand whats going on. In time all the original colonist in the records where gone and "replaced" by the others. It just ended with "what was will be what will be was".
    Very cool chain to discover however!

    Please note that you do not need to agree to have your species genetically altered to still make the worm appear.
    I lucked out that the event triggered on my Iron Man playthrough using a Collectivist Militarist purging Empire. They purged any other species and of course couldn't allow such a thing to happen from within. So it was the execution squads for the scientist (though we kept the notes).
    Rest of the event still played out, though we did not give in to the worm, we returned its love by means of massed mass drivers.
    Didn't actually realise that the weird extra population events were also tied into this chain.

    Got this recently, pretty sure it's bugged in the current release as I was able to go over the max 5-6 traits, Psychic, Very Strong, Intelligent, Talented, Traditional, Deviant, and Non-Adaptive so far. Kind of curious to see if I'd get Natural Sociologists and Repugnant on top of all that as well. Also didn't affect ethics at all, started out Fanatic Militarist-Authoritarian, got a previous chain to become Spiritualist, Old Gods, and hasn't changed since despite going through the first change. Also all my extra citizens didn't disappear, and I'm pretty sure I have multiple clones of one scientist.

    I love this event chain, and I wish that Distant Stars had added more chains like it. One thing I noticed, however, was that I think you got the evolution part a bit wrong. It doesn't just add the intelligent trait: if you were already intelligent, you'll get a species variant that seems to be more warlike and robust, and the intelligent trait will be replaced to reflect that. If you have the strong trait, the opposite will happen. I remember the ethics having something similar going on, though I can't remember exactly how and whether it was tied into the ethics combo you had going on.
