To me saying that polygamy was good then but culturally irrelevant today is the same as saying all the commands in Torah taught by the prophets are culturally irrelevant.
The best book I've read on the topic of Biblical patriarchy and polygyny is "Man and Woman in Biblical Law" by Tom Shipley. William Luck's books are also good. But I believe Shipley's book is unmatched, and to the best of my knowledge no one has attempted to write a rebuttal or refute his argumentation. I disagree with a few minor points that he makes in the book, but overall it's outstanding. It's sold in paperback form on Amazon.
Thanks for the recommendation 🔌! I never read Tom Shipley but will have to do so. Now as far as William Luck, I concur, he is good. However, I will certainly add to the list. I’ve read Dr. Spears, Dr. Murray, Hondo Solomon, Curtis Rogers and, of course, I’ve followed Dr. Luck’s work. And certainly, I’ve read countless articles, but now, “Man and Woman in Biblical Law” will be added to my list. Thanks again Brother!
Another thing I think about is will any of us ever be able to find a Jesus following or Godly girl who will be okay with polygyny that isn't just lukewarn
Unfortunately fem in ism has polluted the minds of men and women. It would be difficult to find a Godly woman accepting of this in America. We are brainwashed.

Yes it still so ironic to me that the so called church father, revered by many that has seeded many Catholic and Protestant dogmas for that past 1,700 years actually held such views concerning polygyny. For although he was not a full fledged proponent of it, his perspective on it has certainly been over shadowed and ignored.
