Marmolada or Sellaronda loop? Why not the MARMORONDA from Alta Badia · Dolomites?

- Honestly, if it wasn't for those amazing snow storms at the beginning of April we would have never done this loop. But see, mother nature has gifted us with fresh snow so that we could enjoy this last winter season week at its best.
Because of the only few people around and no lines at the lifts, we could manage to easily do the MARMORONDA loop that is the Marmolada and the orange Sellaronda in one day. We could also go up twice with the Marmolada gondola and enjoy also some detours (that we usually never do) on the Sellaronda loop.
It was one of those days to remember and we are happy to be able to share it with you and inspire you to visit the Dolomites next winter.

Marmolada and Sellaronda make such an amazing combination. We did this 5 years ago. Definitely the most spectacular landscape one can ski in.
Yes ... Sellaronda alone is some kind of boring ... but together with Marmolada is worth it 👍👍

Nice to see that the Padon 1 from 1982 is still there. I remember the very cold and windy times in the 2-seater. Thanks for the great videos.

Oh yes with the chairlift where on cold days you could stick and freeze on those chairs and the t-bar lift 😂

Last week we also went to Marmoronda, only in the opposite direction, which turned out to be a rookie mistake. In the afternoon the slopes on Marmolada were not so well groomed, but we had all the more fun 🙂 In the last slope just before Arraba my running surface on one of my skis got broken and then the real fun started. Going from Arraba to Corvara. I was skiing like a complete beginner on the broken skis and people passing by couldn't stop wondering what kind of a clumsy fool was messing around on the slope 😀
For sure you remember more this adventure than if it was running smooth 😂😂

Trovare la neve giusta è come fare un ambo al lotto. Però per i gnocchi ci sono sempre garanzie di “vincita” 👍😉

It's pretty simple, you ski down just the first part of the Marmolada and then you keep right so that you reach again the valley (if you can "say" valley) station of the 3rd and last section of the cable car towards Marmolada. So it's great to do some up's and downs just there 😉👍

La sciata dei ragazzi si è evoluta a vista d'occhio, bravissimi. Come mai quest'anno hanno tirato la stagione così avanti? Per via di Pasqua? Comunque gran bei racconti per questo winter 21/22, (anche se mi sono mancati i giri di skialp) attendo next year, sperando, magari, di venirvi a salutare. Un abbraccio e buona Pasqua!!!
Quest'anno lo sci alpinismo non era proprio possibile farlo. Ogni qualvolta che nevicava ci sono state giornate di vento che in quota ha spazzato via tutto. Infatti da dicembre a marzo c'era piú neve nelle valli che sulle cime. Ma va anche bene cosí ... lo scorso anno abbiamo fatto oltre il dovuto 😂
La stagione invernale é sempre pianificata con apertura fino al 10 aprile circa (dipende come cadono i weekend).

Hi Edgar thanks for following and watching. No I'm not a ski instructor ... didn't have any chance in the young years to take part at the selections because I was always into the cycling season in early spring.

Secondo te partendo alla 8:30 da Piz Laila, andando a Punta Rocca e quindi facendo esattamente il tuo giro a che ora arriverei al Sasso Levante e quindi a scendere fino a Plan De Gralba? ci sto alle 14 qui senza mai fermarci?

Not much choice from Malga Ciapela, or you do Marmolada or get through Padon to Arabba. Probably you have more fun taking a bus and go skiing at the Civetta (Alleghe) with the snowboard.

It's eight or steep or flat, not much in between. Of course it depends also from your skills, it's hard to tell. Maybe you will love it or hate it 😂 Anyway you are on holiday in the Dolomites so you should love it 😉😉

Sto ancora cercando un nome per la Sella Ronda in entrambe le direzioni con l'alta badia a sinistra e a destra con San Cassiano più mezza sella ronda. avete qualche idea?
Il nome esiste giá: Sellaronda Double Trouble

which ski resort of dolomites do you recommend for snowboarders ???. we are going every year to tyrol-austria and this year we are looking for italy. i can see a lot of flat pistes . Do you think with the snowboards will have a problem ?
Probably as on-piste snowboarder you have more piste options at the Plan de Corones. Meanwhile the area around the Sella is "just for the eyes".
So it depends what you prefer.

Gentilmente potresti indicarmi il percorso da seguire partendo da piz Sorega per arrivare alla marmolada e ritorno ( impianti e/o piste da seguire)? saremo in alta badia dal 30 dicembre al 6 gennaio. Dal Piz Sorega hai piú opzioni ma quella che preferisco é:
- Seggiovia Biok
- Discesa verso Corvara e il primo impianto che trovi é il Pralongiá e prendi quello
- Dal Pralongiá scendi dall'impianto e prendi la Pista del Sole: czcams.com/video/Zt_IA84ds_Y/video.html e scendi verso Incisa
- Prendi la seggiovia Cherz
- Scendi al Passo Campolongo e poi Seggiovia Bec de Roces (e segui poi quello che abbiamo fatto in questo video)

Attenzione che non é una giacca imbottita, é veramente solo uno strato di Gore-Tex alla fine. Io preferisco cosí perché a seconda della temperatura mi vesto a "strati" o a .... cipolla 🧅

Igor forse dico una sciocchezza... Ma dalla punta della Marmolada si può scendere direttamente al Fedaia senza andare a Malga Ciapela?
Per scendere sí ... si arriva prima al Passo Fedaia. Ma poi se si vuole risalire alla Marmolada si deve scendere fino a Malga Ciapela. E si vuole ritornare ad Arabba bisogna scendere a circa metá del rettilineo di Capanna Bill per prendere la seggiovia che riporta al Padon.

Si é piú veloci se si prende la funivia fino al Portavescovo e poi si scende mantenendo la destra per prendere gli impianti verso il Padon. 😉

Hy Igor. Andersrum würde ich das nicht fahren! Denn der Knackpunkt ist immer der erste Marmolada Sektor. Bin dort mal fast 1,5 Stunden gestanden und dann kann man den Rest vergessen....
Also immer zuerst Marmolada und dann die Ronda!!!!!!
Wenn man es an einem Samstag macht (Hin-Abreise von 80% der Touristen in den Ladinischen Täler) dann klappt es ohne Probleme 😉😉😁😁

Ein Traum...wir wollten im März vom Camping colfosco durchs val di mesdi auf den piz boe..leider hatte es bis dahin zu wenig Schnee...eure Tour letztes Jahr im April war unglaublich...na ja vl. nächstes Jahr..die Berge laufen nicht davon...eure Jungs fahren unglaublich gut 👍 ..und jetzt geht's dann wieder aufs Rad
Questo video fa incavolare. Mi sono mangiato le mani fini ad arrivare ai gomiti. Avrei dovuto salire per l’ultimo weekend di sci, ma sabato era previsto bruttissimo e domenica vento indiavolato. Che effettivamente c’era a a Milano. Invece li 🥲🥲🥲🥲
Entrambi i giorni era il TOP sulle Dolomiti. Infatti vento da Nord per la nostra zona significa che le nuvole vengono spazzate via e che è freddo. Sulla cresta di confine è peró diverso e significa tempesta. Infatti in quelle valli ha ancora nevicato
🤣 che potrebbe anche diventare “Sella Ronda + Marmolada”, quindi… “SELLADA” o “SELLARONDADA” o “SELLAMOLADA” 🤪🤪🤪
