It depends on the situation. For me stationary rv living is cheaper.

I have a trailer stationary at my campground. Site fees are cheap, water is included. Way cheaper than living in a house and paying mortgage and property taxes.

Plus RVs are a depreciating asset, whereas owning a home increasing in value and thus your net worth over time.

So glad to see you posting again! I have to ask, how is the Grey Wolf holding up? We have the same trailer, so I was curious.

What do we need to full time, we have the trailer, and truck. Currently we travel for one week to 10 days several times per year.

Hey John. You need a way to support yourselves on the road - working, savings, etc. If you have a home, you need to decide whether you want to sell it or rent it out. And...downsizing. And...budgeting. That's just the tip of the ice burg. You can start out small by taking a month long trip and maybe increasing it every year.

@@WalkAndPaddle Financially we will be in retirement. What insurance should we have on the RV?

    • @WalkAndPaddle
      @WalkAndPaddle  Před 3 lety

That's a great question. Honestly I don't even know what insurance we have. I know that it included towing and I'm guessing dull replacement. We signed up for the insurance the same day we purchased our RV and we were so excited nervous we just went with whatever they recommended. 😬😬 Probably not the best solution. It get us towed a few times and helped us get our awning replaced. Outside of that we haven't used it. Sorry, I wish I had more advice on this one.

    We love the earrings...so cute.
From the some of the research we've done it can actually get more expensive when you rv.
Once we hit the road we are considering a Thousand Trails membership to cut down on cost.
What do you think of Thousand Trails?

Hi ladies!! Thanks!! My friend got me those earrings. 💗
We liked Thousand Trails. It was very affordable and it was nice to be at a park with electricity and water. Not all have sewer hookups... Every park is a little bit different - some have more amenities than others and some are maintained better than others. We only had a 2 zone membership for a year. It saved us so much money. It got us up and down the east coast for bargain rates - $550 is all we paid for the entire year. We had 21 days and then had to be out of the Thousand Trails system for 7 days. We didn't renew it because where we were camping after that didn't have any parks. So, it totally depends on how and where you are RV camping.
      I hope that helped!!
      Jessica
PS - If you are in a reading mood we have a blog post dedicated to campsite savings and we talk a bit about Thousand Trails. You can check it out here: www.exploringthelocallife.com/save-rv-parks-campgrounds/

@@WalkAndPaddle Thank you Jessica. It's seems like a no-brainer to travel & save money. It's just that sometimes when things seem too good they can prompt suspicion.

Camper RVs and trucks lose value where as a house/condo will go up in value...The largest Thousand trails membership with all the extras can be used full time with a high $$$ up front fee with minimal yearly fees. If you plan on living this life style for a few years, these camp site membership save money over years of living in your RV... There is the cost of a camper, vehicle to tow (in not an all in one RV) vehicle Insurance $, maintenance $$ and gas $$$ and food as you can not even grow your own food if you're living a life on the road... Depending on your finances you will need steady income/employment with the freedom to travel, Plus good medical insurance. I personally would not want to live in a rundown RV that needs constant repairs or trying to find a place to squat for the night for free.... Its going to take money to have the RV life with less stress and comfort... However the experience of seeing America is worth the cost... and you can always go back to the regular life.
