I'm a 44 yrs old lesbian, and *I* teakettled (what I call squealing) and cried and replayed that scene several times, for all the reasons you listed. Also, that "Crikey!" stagger was just beautiful and adorable.
It now makes sense over why did Luz exclaim “Crikey!” after getting the first kiss. The one who made the animation for that scene being so fluid is a local from Australia. Brilliant!

You know what I love about that kiss (apart from all of the obvious)? It wasn't played as a token moment just to get a kiss on screen between any two girls - it came at a totally sincere, emotional moment for two amazing characters whom we've gotten to know individually and as a couple over a long time. It was the perfect moment for them. I love that the writers and animators and voice actors respect their characters and their story this much. It amplifies how beautiful the representation is.

Luz 100% saved Hunter's life with this swap. She, herself, almost got petrified by Belos but he only listened to her because she was human. Belos does not see witches or Hunter as people, so any plea they would make to him would have been ignored. Hunter would have been 100% petrified by the time anyone got to him.

Honestly your little speech after the lumity kiss made me emotional. I've been spoiled for the lumity kiss because of my stupid google discovery page so when I watched it I didn't get that genuine shock moment, so seeing it happen is just as heartwarming.
I can't appreciate the importance of the lumity kiss on its own but I am so happy that we have Elijah et al to demonstrate what kt means to them.

I've noticed an interesting trend with the Lumity relationship, specifically that Luz and Amity both seem to flip their internal script when attempting romance - Luz is normally spontaneous and instinctive, while Amity is an obsessive planner, but they swap when they're pursuing romance.

Can we talk about how desperate Willow was to get to Hunter after being captured by Kikimora? Obviously, after she found out Luz and Hunter switched she still wanted to go rescue her friend. But she booked it to the blimp after Hunter(Luz) was taken. Just a little something I found kinda interesting. All in all, this episode was👌chef's kiss!

The fluid animation style for the kiss was to make it look “more Disney,” if you will. I think it all relates to the producers, writers and animators knowing what a historic moment this is.
I personally didn't like it, nothing wrong with the kiss but the animation shift just felt jarring to me lol. Tho I understand why many would like it for such a important moment!!

for me, it is a historic moment, we finally get some good representation out there
Well, it does make it look "more Disney" but that's actually not the reason. It's an age-old animation technique called Sakuga. See, good looking scenes require highly skilled key animators, and highly skilled animators are EXPENSIVE. So any kind of show/movie/large production has to pick a happy medium between bad animation and good so they don't go bankrupt making their projects. And upon decades of finding that medium, "Important scenes REALLY GOOD, every other scene okay-looking" has been consistently the best choice, so they focus very large portions of budget into the most impactful scenes, such as an important fight scene, or a first kiss between two main characters, or an important dancing scene, you get the idea.
Now, this does inadvertently make it look more like a Disney movie, but that's actually only because Disney uses the exact same technique, and one of the animators they typically use for Sakuga scenes is James Baxter, who's probably the best animator alive. The animator for this scene is Tom Barkel, a relatively newer animator who's also worked on Amphibia, Rise of the TMNT, and some other shows, and it's clear here that he was VERY inspired by James Baxter in this shot since this is the same overall style of animation Baxter would use (hence why it has such a strong Disney feel)

When I saw this show a few weeks ago for the first time, it was an amazing journey I wish I could get to experience over and over again for the first time now.
I loved seeing Knock Knock Knockin' on Hooty's Door for the first time as well. The raw emotion, the blushing, the realism, it was so incredible.
I hope we get to see more incredible shows like this in the future.

I’m autistic, and for me part of that is having a limited range of emotional expression, but even though I didn’t cry I felt just as strongly about that scene as you did! I’ve already lost count of how many times I’ve rewatched it, from Luz’s blushing before the romantic balcony scene (and her fixing her hair!), to the kiss and the “Crikey” (which I have facepalmed at every time from because I also can’t believe Luz says that!), all the way to the cute little smile when she shows Amity that their friends came to help!
So yeah, your emotions and your expressions of them are valid, and I appreciate you putting yourself out there with them for us every week!

Luz's expressions as Amity comes in for the kiss really make it for me. That brief moment of surprise and almost panic like "wait, what's she doing what's she doing OH GOD ARE WE DOING THIS WE'RE REALLY GONNA-" and then conscious thought shuts down and... whoa, crikey~

i'm 14 and i grew up in an accepting household so when i see lumity moments i'm obviously happy but i just feel like it's normal and not really a big deal (the "not a big deal" mostly refers to the moments where they call each other girlfriends) bc THAT'S HOW IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE. but then i realize that the generation(s) before me would have never dreamt of having something like this in a kids' show and see it so normalized and i feel so lucky that i grew up the way i did (even though i still sometimes struggle with internalized homophobia, not bc of my parents, but mostly bc when i was a child i didn't really see anything queer so i just assumed it was wrong/impossible even though i was told that wasn't the case). and i also feel so happy that kids right now and in the next generation(s) are gonna see this and just think it's normal like it's supposed to be.

Despite her literally rolling on the floor, I still managed to have the crazier reaction where I straight up launched chair and all into the air, landed sideways rolling away from the chair and scrambling onto my bed and getting tangled in my blanket and falling off the bed. This scene truly is too much to physically contain.
I went outside in my pjs to the road besides my house and screamed at the top of my lungs, then i just floped on the ground for a minute and returned to my room, danced for at least 20 minutes to air, then conposed myself and tried to watch the entire scene, failed and repeated 2 times till i could continue watching the episode without crying
