You should watch him perform Serendipity live, the performance version is longer and there is choreography. And his other solos Lie and Filter are also incredible. Jimin is probably my favorite dancer in BTS. And that wasn't even a video it was a comeback trailer for their album at the time.

The song actually is not named Serenity which is a state of being peaceful and untroubled. It is called Serendipity which refers to when events almost by fate wind up occurring in a happy, positive manner.
The cactus making Jimin bleed actually is a metaphor wherein his bleeding represents his going beyond the small zone of predictability which is his normal day in and day out life. He is letting his emotions come out (the blood) which starts the process of him accepting that there is a bigger world full of wonders around him. This is not a song about a relationship with a lover but a song about him moving from his safe self-contained comfort zone to find bigger happiness by embracing the world around himself. It is fate (serendipity) that he will embrace this jump. He says let me love you.
So my take is I love you guys engaging BTS, but sometimes deciphering what is most often cryptic, not to mention in another language, won't come easily when one is in casual or goofing around mode. Not that this song was easy to understand. It isn't. But I think it got off on the wrong track when you called the song Serenity, when one of the guys referred to Jimin as a girl, and then when the meaning of the song was put in a relationship box mere seconds into the lyrics.
But I love you guys anyway so I guess I am just telling you one aspect of the appeal of BTS is that unlike most artists their lyrics often go deep.

❤️JIMIN, at age 11-12 started studying, performing, & competing (winning every competition), in hip hop, popping (excelled), & street dancing, while attending the renowned Just Dance Academy in Busan where he's from! He was so good that an instructor even had the high tuition fee waived at one point! This was while also attending middle school, where he loved sports, being quite athletic, joined the football team, excellent at track, great at basketball, & billiards! Jimin also, all throughout his schooling, was known as a top scholar, achieving perfect scores, especially in math & science which just always came easy to him! Jimin was even class president for 9 yrs in a row! Jimin, all throughout his schooling, was also quite good in art class, as well as calligraphy.
Jimin, then also took up contemporary dance. The media, after seeing a performance of Jimin's performing at a huge Busan Festival Event, called Jimin "The rising star of Busan"!! JIMIN also studied ballet & traditional Korean dance while attending Busan High School of the Arts. Jimin still went to Just Dance Academy to take hip hop classes whenever he could because his first love has always been hip hop, even though he was now majoring in contemporary! JIMIN even had an offer to dance overseas, but declined because he also wanted to become a singer since the 2nd grade, to the dismay of one of his dance instructors who said "The world of dance was going to lose a great artist"!!
So Jimin then went and auditioned for BigHit Entertainment, (company BTS is signed with), being the very last member to join, being a trainee for only a few months (which is unheard of for most Kpop idols), as opposed to the 2-3 yrs of being a trainee the other members had! But Jimin was so good that he was assigned the official title of one of the two Main Dancers, as well as Lead Vocalist. Jimin was even assigned most of the high notes since the very beginning, because even without all that training in the beginning, he was that good, a natural born singer who, just like his dancing makes you feel every emotion and feeling he's trying to convey!
JIMIN, also, for 8 yrs, since a quite young boy, trained in various forms (4), of martial arts: Taekwondo (Blackbelt), Hapkido, Kumdo (Korean form of Kendo), & Chinese martial arts. He even won a scholarship, the only student to do so, to study more extensively in China for awhile! All the martial arts training has given JIMIN his phenomenal inner core strength, as well as his amazing flexibility, which has enabled Jimin to achieve all those breathtakingly spectacular gravity defying dance moves! JIMIN has found a way to incorporate all his various dance disciplines, as well as his extensive training in martial arts into his unique, ever so special, outstandingly amazing dancing abilities!!
JIMIN, has been called 'Stage Commander', known for his amazing, so mesmerizing stage presence. Each dance move is executed flawlessly, his extensions all the way to the fingertips, his lines so clean, his fluidity, his poise & elegance, his ever so graceful moves, but yet, sharp, quick & deliberate when required! He focuses on every detail! Known for his work ethics and being a perfectionist to a fault, spending hours in the practice room, will study every move, even focusing on hands to fingertips. Even his facial expressions, or the look in his eyes! Every single detail he focuses on. "Serendipity" is about a love by chance. It's part of their album "Love Yourself: Her" which talks a lot about destiny.

The calico cat is a tri-coloured cat which only 0.1 percent is male breed. "I'm your Calico cat" a metaphor, implies that he's a special part of his lover's life.
Jimin’s live performance of Lie is really good as well. In the live performance of Serendipity ARMY goes apesh*t over him because of his choreography, same with Filter.

This information/explantation may be a little off but this is what I interpreted from the song.
Given that 'Serendipity' was part of the 'Love Yourself' era, I’m assuming it’s a song about learning to love himself, not loving someone else. It’s a song about self-love, not 'just another' love song.
A few lyrics that I just wanted to point out that made me think it was a self-love song.

The song is called “Serendipity,” which is a coincidental occurrence that turns out be beneficial. For the first two lines, perhaps it meant that the universe had mysterious ways and the person Jimin turned out to be, is just meant to be? Like fate? Afterwards, even though it sounds like he’s referring to someone else, the use of words like “you”, “me,” and “I”, are used interchangeably, suggesting that Jimin is referring to himself.

As a bio nerd, I learned in genetics that MALE calico cats are rare. The fur coat color is carried on the X-sex chromosome in cats. A calico fur coat is caused when an has genes for both black and orange fur colors. Females have XX chromosome pairing; hence, calico fur coat is common in female cats. Males have XY chromosome pairing, and since the X-chromosome can only carry one fur color, they usually tend to be black or orange. However, on the rare occasion that a mutation occurs, a male calico cat can be produced (If the cells don’t divide right during meiosis and the kitten ends up with an extra X chromosome (the pairing: XXY), in which one X-chromosome has genes for black fur and the other has genes for orange fur).
Anyhow, Jimin is a man, and he is referring to himself as a calico cat. Male calico cats are rare; hence, Jimin is saying that he is special; he is unique. There is only one Park Jimin. The second part, Love me now, touch me now, suggests that he should love himself for being the one and only, Park Jimin.
There’s also this line:

repeated several times. In my opinion, it suggests that even though Jimin realizes the importance of loving himself, he is still struggling to do so. I might be reading too in-depth here, but I think the use of the calico cat reference also reflects how Jimin sees himself as flawed. The reason why I think this is the case is because scientifically speaking, male calico cats are flawed as well (XXY is a mutation after all . . . ). Accepting one’s flaws is a challenge for anyone, and it is reflected through the metaphor between Jimin and the calico cat. Even though Jimin wants to love himself, these “flaws” that make him unique make it difficult for him to do so.
I guess all that is to say, Jimin’s talking about himself in the song - acting as the “character” in Serendipity trying to love himself, not someone else.

Just a little interpretation: Serendipity also has elements that are common with the 1943 french novella 'The Little Prince' by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
Penicillum is used in medicine... Male calico cats are unusual... He's saying "I can heal you, I am special to you", in a poetic way. It's a love song written like a poem. Fist album of this series is about infatuation and blind love, which is dangerous, I guess that's why there's a few "dangerous" tihngs in the video. It's also a reference to the Little Prince novel, and his story with the rose.
This might've been mentioned in other comments but alas. The whole calico cat idea is that male calico are very rare. So the meaning of that verse could be that their meeting/bond/relationship is rare and very special.

We had a mixture of different cats and majority of them were homeless except the two calleo cats, root beer and dusty were the only two oldest ones we had 😢 we sadly watched our dear root beer slowly dying from a stroke, four more had to be put to sleep over the years and the rest upsettingly died from being hit by cars. I still remember all of their names 😭
