- I love metal detecting, it's the hobby that just keeps on giving. I love sharing my finds & love competing with my Dad, the cameraman. Gordon introduced us to this hobby & the three of us enjoyed some great times with light hearted banter but always delighted for each other’s successes. We sadly lost Gordon in July 2022 & he leaves a huge hole in our detecting adventures BUT we continue, hoping he is watching over us. I’m now using his trusty digging tool hoping it brings me some luck!

Well done Paddy.
another good day Paddy!
Great find! Amazing such small items in relation to your fingers and thumb, and that big field. You are great!
Thanks a lot 😁
Good lot of finds there Paddy. Great that you can still find good stuff on a favorite field. Well done mate 🦘🦘😁👍

Thanks a lot for the lovely comment 😁
Your 'Rose farthing' looks to be a 17th Century Traders Token Paddy, same period of course, but you can just see the outline of the three initials on one side which is usual for the issue. And might the 'long bit' be a knife handle of some kind? Very interesting though and all power to your elbow for your next trip out, Doug.
Thanks a lot for watching Doug, I thought there was a possibility it was a traders token however wasn’t 100% sure as we’d had a few there before in other fields. Thanks for the kind comment 😁
If it were modern, I'd say that gadget you found was a tool for cleaning one's fingernails; but how far back do they go?
