Pokemon cards at a hardware store aren't entirely unusual but definitely glad that you got a chance to check it out.
Those mystery boxes are really hit or miss and I find it easier if you stick with one set like with ETBs to be consistent.

Dude, I got a completely BUSTED stack of C22 mini tins at Walmart the other day! Found 9 of 'em mixed in with the C23s. Out of those 9 tins, I pulled 10 hits, three being ES alts!!! Insanity, bro! I got the Medicham, Leafeon V and Umbreon V alts!!! Another notable was a FA Glaceon. The FS packs weren't sleeping, either. From that I got that Cilan, Cress and whatever his name is FA as well as the hyper/rainbow version and a Greedent FA. Some regular Vs and Vmaxs brought it all to 10 hits total. Bro, my Walmart is almost always stripped. Nothing like walking in on a fresh restock. Once in a blue moon experience.
Bro, not sure if you heard but the Mimikyu showcase boxes with 2 ST and 1 ES are popping up at Target now. I saw some that I had to pass up at Walmart on Tuesday as well. I think they got a reprint and Target got them first and now Walmart is having a second wave of them.
