Regarding the range improvement by replacing the VTX antenna: I tried it, it maybe helped. What really fixed the range issue (specifically frsky with multiprotocol) was resetting the Frsky_spi_offset value to 0 and follow up with a frequency fine-tune on the TX.
Also, I found the board I purchased back in March doesn't suffer the sub-3.0volt issue of resetting the eprom
ALSO, I had good results splicing a betafpv C01 camera onto the plug for the camera. Works just fine!

Now I need to check it with another VTX I guess just to be sure it's dead... Oh and I'm an old guy that doesn't use Discord, but if it helps people I'm all for it. Thank you sir...

Your wiring for the nano 3 cam is wrong. At the connector it should be Yellow, Red, Black instead of Yellow, Black, Red. That's why the Happymodel replacement is working fine.

Well done thanks Nick, I am focusing on the micros and your channel is my favorite way to learn something and see whats coming down the micro FPV community highway. My youngest child is is 22 and i am blessed to be flying these little birds and learning and flying has brought a lot of joy to me when the shackles of pharoah constantly need your attention. FPV flying is as close as you can get to the front seat of a heli/plane. I am also blessed to be learning to fly while building a real plane with my local EAA chapter and have been talking to other members about using FPV flying and racing as a part of our Young Eagles program. Teaching young people to think with a mission focus similar to every time you fly a real plane and incorporating pre-flight inspections for aircraft worthiness, operating your mission in a safe way and debriefing are assets in young peoples lives that will take them farther with these disciplines of building and operating these little birds as well as life in general. I am not personally against Paetreon and i realize being able to share and give away what you are not using or just want to bless your community with, is grossly over reaching by the PC culture of CZcams Algorithms and totally understand why you need to do something different. It’s whoopin time ;)

Great stuff as always! Discord could be a good way to bring in a conversation, feedback, or place to host info that would be readily accessible. Another older way would be a forum, but i don't know of any popular drone specific forums. With some of the keyboard forums (geekhack, deskthority) they use a wiki for the readily accessible/easy to find info.

As with the Tinyhawk S, I also had an absolute total failure with the Mobula 6 (25000kv) :|
The frame is bent, 3 of 4 motors rattle / vibrate or wiggle the motor bells, VTX range indoor 5-6m / outdoor 20-30m, SPI Flysky range indoor under 7m !!!
The extra receiver you mentioned was also in my package.
Unfortunately the Flysky versions weighs 1g more + receiver then 2.2g more, of the 19.8g promised 22g will end up on the scales !!!
To avoid discussions with Banggood, I unpacked the Mobula 6 live in front of the camera.
Would you like to watch my last video how bad my engines sound even without a propeller?
In principle, I only have 2 options, either cannibalize or completely rebuild with almost everything. !?!
    What I can use are at least 1 motor + 1 canopy + 1 Runcam Nano 3 :) :) :)

    • @NickBurnsFPV

I have now completely changed my whoops to BT2.0 and I am thrilled.
The voltage under load has shifted upwards by 0.2V, e.g. from 3.7V to 3.9V.

  • @mece66
    @mece66 Před 4 lety

Smart audio is in the VTX. So switching receivers does not affect it. As for the flysky, we've had no VTX issues that look like yours. But it does come with a longer antenna than the frsky ones. The built-in flysky receiver is absolute garbage but they kindly included a small full-range receiver that added ~1g but had great range.
As for the runcam nano 3, I managed to crash full throttle into a 2x4 and it broke. No visible damage but there is just no picture anymore. Checked all wiring and tested with different vtxs but nothing, so they can break in hard crashes. Unfortunately they are hard to come by these days so I'm still waiting for a replacement.

My first moderate crash with my Mobula6 damaged the Nano 3 cam in which it lost it’s focus. I replaced the camera and my next moderate crash damaged the second one also. I hope Runcam fixes this issue because the Mobula6 really needs the Nano 3 to keep it’s performance.

I wonder if it's the difference of an added regulator. Maybe the mob6 part is 3.3-36v and the runcam one is strictly 5-36v. Haven't had that experience yet . Maybe they underclock the mob 6 one so it draws less current. I'd say throw a meter in series with the power and check the current.

Maybe this will help someone. I was quite satisfied with my stock Mobula 7 flying indoors on 1S. I upgraded it to 4.1.2 and thought it flew slightly better (I had been noticing some twitchy movement). I then put on JazzMav 16.77 24Khz (per Albert) and I got very bad circular oscillations and motors not arming consistently on 1S. The arming issue disappeared on 2S and it ran very smooth. I took another of Albert's suggestions and turned on Vbat Pid Compensation (BF-Config) and it made the 1S oscillation much better, but reduced flight time. I'm now running only 2S with 50% throttle cut and it's better than 1S before I made all the changes. I went through exactly the same issues with a second Mob7, and looking back I think my 1S bats were getting weak - maybe part of the problem...

On the FlySky version, check what the VTX power is set to. I just received a Mobula 6 with FlySky receiver (should have been FrSky btw, something went wrong there) and with VTX set to 25mW, the actual output power was about 1mW, according to the RF Power Checker V2. Only when selecting the 500mW power setting in the OSD Smart Audio settings, did the measured power get somewhere close to 20mW. So it seems something's messed up with the FlySky version of this board.

@@NickBurnsFPV 3.5.7 so it can't be a VTX tables issue. Also came with Flit14 receiver included in the box, with extra piece of paper on how to set it up. It also came set with Smart Audio power level at 500mW, which I changed to 25mW, because I thought that setting was wrong. Then I went flying, and had poor VTX range, like you. I changed back to 500mW setting, and the range was much improved. Then checked with RC Power Checker, and found that with VTX set to 25mW, and quad armed, the power was around 1mW only. With power set to 500mW, the reading was close to 20mW, so much more like you would expect from a 25mW VTX. Some HappyModel voodoo, it seems.
