Believe it or not, this video actually changed my life. About 7 months ago in October I was a senior in high school. I was playing a sport (which I am not naming) that had practices for 6 days a week year round. I was almost good enough to play on a college team but, I still needed to improve a bit. My decision was to either try extra hard in the sport and make a college team or just do the sport for fun. Then, I ended up watching this video. After seeing how chaotic the athletes day was and how much free time the student had I think I knew what to do next. 2 weeks later I quit the sport for good. I thought that I would regret it but, I am glad that I did it. I got a normal gym membership and worked on my individual goals instead. 6 months later my bmi went from 18-22 (which is good for an 18 year old guy). I am so much happier and I have a lot more self-confidence. I also got to do many fun things that I never got to do before.
I also wanted to say that there is nothing wrong with being a college athlete. College athletes are probably the most determined people in the world. The athlete in this video is always trying his hardest and he never gives up despite having an extremely low amount of down time. The student on the other hand may not be as determined as the athlete but she is at least trying to make her college experience enjoyable.

Man the biggest thing I hated about college was having to work my part time job. Literally ruined any opportunity for extracurriculars. Join a club, an extra class, research, etc would always be met with: “cant, gotta work”. Im not blaming them but I would always think how nice it would be to actually focus entirely on my studies and/or enjoy college life without having to make money.
I work full time and taking 15 credits this semester. I have literally no time to socialize, attend events, or participate in any clubs. I'm grateful I can afford college, but sometimes I also wish I could have a normal university experience.
But in reality, just remember most students are in huge debt and their going to face that burden once they graduate.

The American system for sports is not good. They force you to go college before you can make it pro. In Europe, you can make it pro at any level depending how good you are. Anus Fati made his pro debut for Barcelona at 16 years old. Jamie Vardy made it to the premier league at 25 years old.
