Yes we went to excellence el Carmen in Punta Cana for our honeymoon in August as well. There is a lot of similarities between the locations but this one is newer and therefore nicer! Thanks for sharing!

Yes the room service was amazing!! I loved how they let you order from the restaurant menus during the hours they are open. So you get way more than a standard “room service” menu. My birthday is also in Aug !! 😬

Looks amazing! My husband and I are going there in four weeks. I noticed you booked a Gardenview room but you still had a view of the ocean to your right. That is such a great perk. We booked an oceanfront room. Do you know if that means we will be having a street view of the sea from our room?
That’s a good question- it depends. They have an ocean view on both sides of the resort, so we faced the ocean but also the main pool (where all the action happens). The other wise faces the ocean but it has trees and no resort action. In short I’m not sure which view you’ll have.

You will LOVE it! It’s almost as if they designed this resort specifically for couples. The service was extremely slow and I didn’t care for my food at all- granted I might have just ordered the wrong thing.
The day before I heard someone else saying it wasn’t good service when they went either BUT definitely check it out for yourself. They may have just been off those 2 days.

Yes, you have brought some answer to some of my question. One last thing is thing do they have a daily organised schedule with activities. And do they sell excursions to see montegobay and around. Thank you
They have organized activities daily from early morning to mid afternoon. They also have a kiosk in the lobby for excursions outside of the resort, including Montego Bay.
Really great vlog so helpful! We are going end of the month. For room service do you order on the phone or from the tv? And did you find there was enough to do at the resort that excursions weren’t really necessary?
Hi. Thanks so much! Room service was ordered on the phone. Ordering on the TV wasn’t an option.
As far as activities at the resort it really depends on how active you’re trying to get. They definitely have a loaded schedule from pool games, rum tasting, bike riding, etc. and there’s an area for non motor water sports at the end of the beach.
If you’re staying for more than 4 days you may want to step off the resort at least one day for an excursion. I hope this helps!

Hi! This looks beautiful. We’re planning a trip here for our anniversary and I’m wondering if you see any noticeable diff between the Junior suite ocean view/partial ocean view and the Junior suite garden view? We plan to do excellence club as well. Thanks!
So the garden view is facing the body of water (where boats etc travel on - no sand/beach) and homes. So not much of a “view” and you don’t see the action happening at the main pool area or anyone walking by on the resort. Then again the garden view is secluded and relaxing so if you wanted privacy it may be a nice option. The audio from the pool activities could be heard from the ocean view junior suite. The layout of the rooms are exactly the same though. I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

We did leave one day for excursions- majority of the popular excursions (ie dunns river, rafting, etc.) are 1-1.5 hrs from the resort so we did a rafting experience that was 30 min away and also a green cenote cave tour which was nice. They have shuttles that will take you to any excursions though if you want to go to Dunn’s river etc in Montego Bay

@@cynthiab5617 we personally did not travel to Montego Bay so I am not sure about that, sorry! They do have a travel concierge desk in the lobby that helps you book all excursions though and are very attentive.
My fiancé and I are booked in April for our honeymoon and this video was so helpful! But just wondering, with the plexy glass at the buffet… how do you get to the food? I noticed some had small openings at the bottom but how do you pick the ones that are closed off?

They actually serve all of the food for the breakfast buffet, which I appreciated to keep everything as clean as possible. None of the stations were self serve. Thanks for watching!
Hi. Loved your video. We are headed there in January. We have been to 2 other Excellence resorts. My question is about the room service sushi. How did you get them to do that? I haven't seen those items on the room service menu.
Hi! I hope y’all enjoy it just as much as I did. So during restaurant hours you can order from their menu too (not restricted to the room service menu) so I took advantage of that. They have so many restaurants to choose from 😋

No problem- OMG how could I forget to mention the mosquitoes 😩. I would HIGHLY suggest packing mosquito repellent…both of you pack some! Lol. The mosquitoes were pretty bad at night.

1. yes we went mid August and it wasn’t extremely busy. Do you mean more so like waiting in lines, pool area being full, no reservations at restaurants available, etc? If so, no it wasn’t packed.
2) It depends on the service or where we were. For my spa appointment I tipped but for restaurants I did not tip and they did not expect tips. You can do USD or Jamaican dollars.
3) we did an excursion in the “green grotto caves” I believe it was called and the Martha river excursion on the raft (both within 30 min from the resort). The majority of the popular excursions you will see people talk about are ~2 hr ish from this resort since it’s in the opposite direction of Montego Bay

Hey! The jerk hut is included so you don’t have to buy the food. It’s Free.
Is the pool private that you showed? I’ve seen some rooms where pool was outside the patio.
The one I showed was “private” but on the 1st floor behind the bushes of the main walkway so guests passing by could technically see you.
They have some on the opposite side of the building (no main pool view) with actual private pools/bath tubs out of the patio. Those weren’t pictured in this video (sorry!) but they are definitely more of a private feel.
We are going in Feb 2022 from the US. My biggest question is the covid protocols and testing. How is all of thah working?
Upon arrival you need a negative COVID 19 test done 3 days before departure. If you’re flying American they have an app called VeriFLY- download that app and it will give you the steps to complete everything you need.
The resort provides testing free of charge 3 days prior to departure. While on the resort (at least during August when I went) you do not have to wear your mask and they provide hand sanitizer at every restaurant and main area.
If you test positive at the resort you are in isolation for 14 days. They have a separate building where they house everyone who is isolated.

Hello, What’s a Season Transfer? Is it that expensive to travel from Sanger International to the resort? Do you know if there is a least expensive transfer available?
Hi. Season Transfer is the name of company that provides transportation. It was $195 USD round trip for 2 people and we had a private transport (only us in the car). They have options for cheaper where you travel as a group. I’m not sure of the price but if you give the resort a call they can give you the prices.

What would you rate the food + room service out of 10?
Room service is 11+ the no contact option is everything. They slide it in the cabinet and you’re good to go. You can order from the restaurants (during restaurant hours) and the actual room service menu too so it’s everything!!! The food overall was good a solid 8.5 - there were some meals I didn’t care for but those were also the ones I never eat at home no way lol so I was taking a chance. Hope this helps!

All of the ones listed are included in the all inclusive. You should not expect to spend any extra money while dining on the resort.
That’s a good question (vegan options), from what I remember there was a vegan section at most if not all restaurants. I’m not vegan myself so I can’t vouch for whether the options available were tasty. Sorry!
