Band saw boxes are a great project William. The varieties and the design possibilities are pretty much endless. I hope that you will give them a try some time. Thanks for tuning in to the show.
I like that saying Sharon. Mistake are only a bad thing if you don't learn anything from it. Sometimes, they surprise us and provide us with new design elements that look fantastic. Thanks for tuning in to the show this week and for taking the time to leave the kind words.
It does Sherman. I really like that way this base came out. In fact, I am really pleased with the entire box. Thanks for the kind words and for tuning in to the show.
Excellent video Kenny - many thanks! Great to see that the experienced woodworker can find fresh inspiration that fires their imagination and results in a superb looking product.
I think that when you are passionate about something, there is always inspiration to be found. Thanks for tuning in to the show Mike. Glad that you liked it.
Kenny, I really like boxes of all types. This one came out great, I especially like the raised base even though it was unintentional it makes the box look like it is floating. Shellac is a great finish and about as natural as you can get. Awesome project my friend.
Glad that you liked the project Paul. Thanks once again for tuning in to the show and taking the time to leave the kind words. Your dedication to the channel is very much appreciated.
Glad that you liked it Bill. Good luck on your project and thanks for tuning in and taking the time to leave the kind words. It's very much appreciated.
This project is very doable on the scroll saw Mindy. The only thing that the scroll saw wouldn't be able to do here is cut the piece off the bottom for the base of the box. For that, you could just use a hand saw if you wished. A table saw would do the same thing but you might want to do it in two passes. I hope this helps. Thanks for tuning in to the show.
Glad that you liked it Joel. It's pretty nice stuff. Much easier than the traditional way of flocking a project and I hope you like it. Thanks for tuning in to the show.
I guess it doesn't matter how good you are, you still make mistakes when it comes to woodworking. It's all in how you handle it and how you fix it. Thanks for the kind words on the project and for tuning in to the show.
What a great looking box, I have nevered thought about cutting a box on a bandsaw, most of the time it's cut on my tablesaw unless it's a Whimsical bandsaw box, now I have ideas that can use the tablesaw, the deep red flocking looks great against the poplar, I guess Ken's wife told him no you can't use my Crikcut machine (sorry Ken lol) the box looks fantastic have a safe and wonderful weekend to you and the family
Glad that you liked the project Alan. The shape of this box really appeals to me and I hope that it will appeal to other viewers as well and that they will try it for themselves. As for the Cricut machine......I'm lucky that I have a wife that doesn't mind sharing her toys with me. She's pretty awesome. Thanks for tuning in this week sir. I hope you and your family have a great weekend as well.
Show me a person who never makes mistakes in woodworking, and I will show you a pathological liar. LOL. We all make mistakes. The important thing is to learn from it and move on. I was able to correct this one and it turned out great. Other than that, I would have just had a piece of designer firewood. LOL. Thanks for tuning in Karl.
There's a ton of variations that could be made with this box Robbi. I like your inlay idea. I might have to incorporate that on the next box I make. Thanks for tuning in to the show.
Great video, I like the box. Another use for scraps is tear of burning them or throwing them out. Thats size is kinda on the edge for some. I have a question. You said to scroll saw to cute the lid out? Why not use the band saw to cut it, as it would be the perfect tool, and you have been using it for the rest?
Variety is the spice of life Scott. If you wanted to use the bandsaw to cut the lid, there is no reason that you could. For me though, I prefer the scroll saw. The cut edge is much cleaner which reduces that amount of sanding needed and I am just more comfortable on the scroll saw. You are correct though, that the bandsaw would be just as capable for cutting the lid, making this (pretty much) a one tool project. I hope this helps. Thanks for tuning in to the show sir.
I have the General International 15-015 M1 belt sander and I have to say that I love it. I'm not sure if it is still available or not but a search online would be able to tell you that. Thanks for tuning in Buddy and for the kind words on the show.
This could definitely be done on a scroll saw. The only part that might give you trouble, is cutting the bottom slice off of the box. For this though, you could use a handsaw. It's a very doable project. I hope this helps. Thanks for tuning in Mark.
Nice project, now how to get a bandsaw past my wife made all the more difficult due to Sydney’s lockdown she’s sure to notice it being delivered and No asking is not an option, best to ask for forgiveness when it arrives
Dear sir, couldn’t the top have been placed with the rest of the wood when using the bandsaw and sanding? It just seems like the top might be off otherwise.
As with any woodworking process Gary, there is always more than one solution to achieve the same results. The methods that I show here on the channel are merely suggestions and you can feel free to change them up however you wish. You idea would work as well and if that is what you are comfortable with, then by all means, produce the lid using your method. Thanks for tuning in to the show and for chiming in with your question. It's a great one.
So I decided to buy the 40 pack flocking paper.. Applied the KEN30 code and after that got hit with a $27.00 shipping charge and that was the cheapest rate. All that was won was lost. I think I made a down payment on a mail truck..
I see that Rajesh has already commented and plans on resolving this issue. In case you weren't aware Tom, Rajesh is with Spectro Coatings so he would be the one to fix this. Thanks for speaking up and bringing the issue to our attention. It's appreciated. I also appreciate you tuning in to the show.
I like the idea of bandsaw boxes Kenny, this was an interesting video. Never done one myself but I will get to it one day I think. Thanks Kenny.

@@acutabove_woodworkings That is so true. You are welcome.
Pretty cool!!! With the base that way kind of gives it the appearance of it floating. 👍
It does Sherman. I really like that way this base came out. In fact, I am really pleased with the entire box. Thanks for the kind words and for tuning in to the show.

Glad that you liked it Chuck. Thanks for tuning in this week.
I’m loving these boxes. I have so many ideals on making some on my scroll saw. I don’t have a band saw yet.

another cool project, keep em coming....you could always put inlay in the space around the bottom, looks good.
There's a ton of variations that could be made with this box Robbi. I like your inlay idea. I might have to incorporate that on the next box I make. Thanks for tuning in to the show.
Thanks Kenny

It's has been an issue on Etsy. If you do put the order in the shipping will be refunded manually. Sorry about that, but we are trying to resolve it.
