    Good Morning Sir Matt, this Everything Fly is Awesome, I like the concept. I'm a little late on this video, we had our church Grand Opening yesterday after the Texas Flooding we had awhile back. Everything is brand new and we had a great turnout. Something Kool to note my Pastor's Pastor who is our Special Guest is a fly fisherman. His first church was in Farmington NM. And he use to fish The San Juan River. I have prepared him a fly box with alot of the flies you taught me how to tie and some. That would have never happened if not for you so thank you Sir. Enjoy the rest of your weekend and cheers 😊

    Another great pattern. I once fished a black deer hair Crowe Beetle. The hair became cut and flared at each end of the fly but the cutties didn't care. Ragged works!! Thanks Matt.

      Oh yeah JB! I've had woolly worms with the palmered hackle coming off, dragging through the water a complete mess and still catching fish. Not always, but sometimes a big messy fly drives them crazy. :-)

    Matt I like the idea on those legs!!! One change I’d make is start that thread behind the eye to give a thread base for that hair so it doesn’t spin or a little thin dubbing base.. Absolutely going to try that out..

    • @SavageFlies
      @SavageFlies  Před 10 měsíci

      Great tip Scott! I need to remember that for anything with deer or elk up front as it will have a tendency to spin if you're not careful. Appreciate the note my friend. Have a great weekend!

    Good morning Matt. ☕️time. Different way of doing the legs. I like the look of that one. Back home and now cleaning and putting stuff away. Going fishing tomorrow. Have a great weekend.

    Nice one Matt. Sanchez is a thoughtful tier, probably from tying some "One Fly" patterns that won that competition. I like using the deer hair for legs, like a Crowe beetle or some bee or wasp patterns I've seen. I think beat up patterns, at times, work better than pristine clones. Buggier the better. Thanks Matt, hey cool burly sweater that looks like a jacket with a shawl collar, or is it a jacket that looks like a sweater. 🤔hmm, nice!

    This looks like a pattern that Charles Meck mentioned in his book Matching Hatches Made Easy. He wrote about a pattern that he would take to the stream and, depending on the hatch, color with a marker.

    Hi Matt. I like that pattern. It’s gonna be in my box too. I’m enjoying my Bahamas trip right now and we had a nice day one on the flats and hoping the same for the week. If you haven’t tried it yet I highly recommend it. Take care and as always thanks for the video.

    What an interesting & creative way to create legs. I’m going to give this pattern a try.
    If you want to make the legs darker as a contrast, just use a magic marker. Crimp the legs with a fingernail or tweezers to bend them for a shaggier look.

    • @SavageFlies
      @SavageFlies  Před 10 měsíci

      Great tip with the marker! There's one other fly that comes to mind using legs done like this. If I recall, Andy Puyan's Black Beaver sort of does this. From Valla's "Tying the Founding Flies." It's a nymph and he uses some dark hair (moose maybe?) for a wing case, and he folds the tips back and crinkles them up for the legs. I'm going to have to look that one up again. Now I'm off to an amusement park for some Halloween festivities. Have a great weekend!

    Is that what they mean by bug ugly, but it's a good ugly. Personally I've never seen a cute bug living on the bottom of a stream. Keep the good stuff coming Matt.
