    Just an update for your viewers : Nyoma has a new petrol pump now. Could be a relief for those who travels Keylong-TsoMoriri-Hanle. From Moriri to Hanle there are 2 routes. One: is via Salsal La-Punguk-Khuldo, dist 140km. Other: is via Sumdo-Mahe-Nyoma-Rhongo-Anley, distance 159km. Take the 2nd route, top up your bike & jerrican with fuel at Nyoma. You can manage your further route till Leh via Umlingla, Pangong.
    Have a happy & safe ride. Be careful of rash drivers and also, be mindful of other vehicles, while riding on mountains.
    Note: forgot to add, from Sumdo take a small diversion to visit beautiful Puga valley, beautiful landscape of sulphur lake, completely different.

      Thanks for sharing these tips and details brother.. these have been updated in the recent updates on these routes and I did that Salsal la route last year in September and it was still raw.. now that has also been tarred and paved. so if there are multiple vehicles then you can take that route too as shortcut to Hanle and purely offbeat.. I do not recommend solo vehicles as less people travel up there..
      Again thanks for sharing them here..

    I was down with AMS in Hanle. Infact out of 4 people, 3 of us were down with AMS - only headache though. No other symptoms so we were lucky. But I couldn't go out at night to see the milky way galaxy. Np, will see it next time. I travelled to Leh from Delhi via Srinagar. We did 2 days acclimatization in Leh but Hanle still gave us AMS. Nothing wrong with Hanle. It's a must place to visit. But travellers should be careful.

    Dear Dheeraj, Namaste and Jule!
    My friend and I, both from Europe, are traveling to Leh next week. We plan to rent a motorbike to explore Ladakh.
    Your posts have been immensely helpful in planning our trip. However, we are still uncertain about the access to Umling La Pass for foreigners. I have read that it is restricted for non-Indian residents. Could you please clarify if this is true, or if there is any way for us to visit?
    Thank you very much for all the information you have provided so far. We greatly appreciate your help and look forward to your continued insights.

    Hi, isn't there a petrol pump at Nyoma. I would appreciate if u could clear my doubt.

    • @discoverwithdheeraj
      @discoverwithdheeraj  Před 3 měsíci

      Now as of May 2024, you will find petrol pumps ar following places in Ladakh
      Leh, Karu near Leh,
      Diskit in Nubra ,
      Tangtse near Pangong Lake,
      Nyoma near Hanle and Tso Moriri (Newly operational in 2024)
      Then if you exit on Manali Leh highway from Tso Moriri then next petrol pump will be Keylong.
      So if you are doing Ladakh circuits as above, you will need to manage about 290 km without petrol pump in case returning to Leh or Karu otherwise if you exit from Tso Moriri to Keylong/Manali then you need to manage about 420 km

    Dheeraj - thank you so much for all the detailed information. This video is very helpful. Quick question - Are these roads open in Winter? I am planning this route in Feb-Mar 2024 in a fully equipped 4x4 overlander - should we expect the roads to be closed or is it open all seasons. Any information will be greatly helpful. Thanks much.

    • @discoverwithdheeraj
      @discoverwithdheeraj  Před 9 měsíci

      By road you will only be able to make the trip to Ladakh in season time now.. depending on amount of snow the roads to Ladakh gets open, stable and to an extent safe for travel by end of May or early June.. it may be early too but all depends how winter will be

    • @user-xf9iq5lt9d
      @user-xf9iq5lt9d Před 9 měsíci +1

      thanks Dheeraj, I plan to drive from Chandigarh to Kaza and Kibber in Feb end 2024. After Kibber, if the roads are open, I will try to get to Umling La on the option 2 route you suggested. Hopefully the winter is not too harsh. What is confirmed now is that there is indeed a road to cross over into the Ladakh region. Now it will be a question of weather, not the fact that there are no roads. I will update further if I was able to complete the journey in Feb / Mar. More later.
      Thanks Dheeraj for the prompt reply, appreciate your help to the community!

    @Dheeraj Sharma, I really find your content amazing and very informative. Can you please help me decide my itinerary? I am traveling on July 20, 2024. I will fly to Leh and acclimatize there for 2 days. I plan to do a bike ride from Leh to Ladakh with my wife as a pillion rider. Can you suggest the best route from Pangong to Hanle? Also, can I cover Nubra, Turtuk, Pangong, Hanle, and Tso Moriri if I have 5 days apart from the 2 days of acclimatization? I have moderate bike riding skills. I am asking from both a safety perspective and for a doable route with a pillion.

    • @discoverwithdheeraj
      @discoverwithdheeraj  Před 2 měsíci

      You can follow this itinerary
      Day 1 | Leh Rest day and acclimatize
      Day 2 | Leh local sightseeing and acclimatize
      Day 3 | Leh to Diskit/Hunder in Nubra
      Day 4 | Turtuk Day Trip
      Day 5 | Diskit/Hunder to Pangong Lake
      Day 6 | Pangong Lake to Hanle
      Day 7 | Umling La Day trip from Hanle
      Day 8 | Hanle to Tso Moriri
      Day 9 | Tso Moriri to Leh
      Day 10 | Rest in Leh/Buffer day
      Day 11 | Fly out
      The worst road will be between Nubra to Pangong on this route as construction work is going on. So you will need to manage that one

      Well, it will be too much of a risk with AMS at play without any acclimatization in Leh, without going to Nubra first or staying at tangtse...
      a less risky and better but still hectic plan if you do not want to go to Nubra, will be like below:
      Chandigarh to jispa
      Jispa to leh
      Leh acclimatization
      Leh to Tangtse
      Tangtse to Pangong to Hanle

    Manali to Leh highway is death trap. Never go beyond Jispa.
    It’s highly highly risky .
    Choose Jammu Srinagar Kargil route.

      @@discoverwithdheeraj Yes special the glacier route, and I encountered people who don't have sense how to drive on such roads. No Patience at all.

      Unfortunately, that is the sad state.. the lack of basic common driving sense in some folks!!
