    Reviews like this one are very important because they force manufacturers to constantly raise the bar in terms of quality and refinement. Trucks used to be basic and simple, workhorses designed for professionals. Today, however, half of the people buying a pickup do so as a viable alternative to a family SUV. That’s a good thing. Those of us who really do need the robust capabilities that these vehicles have to offer use a different set of criteria in our evaluation of pickup trucks -but that doesn’t mean we don’t welcome or appreciate the advancements in technology and refinement. No, of course not; in fact, they make our life easier. So before you macho guys get all worked up about how women evaluate your toys, just remember that now your toys are even better thanks to them!

      you want it to be tought and robust but you want it to be refined and fill with advance technologies ?
      it's a basic simple workhorse and those are the reasons for it's success all over the world and probably the reason why people like you buy it in the first place but now you want it to become just another suv ?
      have you thought that if they make the vehicule you just discribe it will cost more, will not be as simple, basic, the workhorse that people need it to be ?
      if you look closely to all models of toyota, i'm pretty sure that you will find your perfect suv, why do you want this last of his specie to become just another SUV, another one, really ? aren't there enough already of suv out there for you and your family ?
      it's not about being a macho or not, and no our toys aren't better thanks to them instead they are not fill with tons of gadgets no one need, which break all the time, and cost a fortune to buy and repair.
      with all due respect i am capable of...please women, keep yourselves away from our toys...we like them basic, simple, easy to use and repair, with no advance technology and refinement and cheap to buy.

      There are multiple types of pickups, some are cheap good workhorses, some are truck looking cars with extreme pricetags, if you want a car with a bed buy a car with a bed, if you want a pickup buy a pickup, what you are describing is a suv with a bed. All those "fancy" "luxurious" addons just pumps up the price. These days you can't get a decent cheap pickup without the "extras" that push the price up. I don't think they add to the value of the truck, i don't need apple car play or gps or soft linings, fancy enterior. I want High torq, good durability, preferably decent fuel economy and a bed to hold construction materials or my motorcycle. Finally i want it cheap, able to tear trough the heavy snow, and stay on the road.

    None of these are available in the US. We are supposed to get the Ford Ranger in 2019, we have the Toyota but it's called the Tacoma and very different from the other parts of the world. And the Mitsubishi does not sell in the United States any pick up trucks. Toyota isn't not offered with diesel engines yet, because we prefer gasoline engines. However I believe the Ranger will have a diesel option

      The reality of the rest of the world is not lived in the USA, high taxes, fuel 2 to 3 times more expensive, high insurance prices, among a couple of etc. having an American model pick-up is completely unfeasible for the reality of many, here in Uruguay you can buy any model of the American market, but it only comes by order and for a value not less than 100 thousand US dollars ... you can imagine the costs to keep a vehicle like that, or do you work to maintain your life or your car !!!

I think the Dallas style split screen works quite well and it was interesting to have each intro before the drive rather than all together at the start. I missed the rotating rodeo this week though as it gave room for three different takes on each area of the car (it didn’t matter to me you scripted for each other it made it easy for you to each add your own comment/flair on the different aspects of the car and if you wanted to in the future politely disagree or express personal preferences etc in a humorous way) Keep up the great work 👍

    If you want a smooth, comfortable, SUV-like pick-up, the RAM 1500 is the only way to go... It's now the most popular pick-up in Western Europe, but too bad the U.K. doesn't get them because RAM doesn't want to make right-hand drive vehicles (only the 2500 for Australia, but you can't drive those on a regular car license in Europe.
    The RAM has a very smooth gasoline V8, which always feels more refined, and a good, ZF 8 speed torque converter. Plenty of room, and there's still the workhorse-side (which no one uses), in case you need it, as well as a V6 diesel for companies/commercial use. Extremely low on taxes because it's a pick-up (it's still a 2,6 ton vehicle with a V8, only €150/year in Belgium) and probably cheaper to run than these in the video if you get the autogas (LPG) BiFuel option.
    If you want a more practical, work-oriented vehicle that's gonna get dirty every now and then, those in the video are very good. I don't really like the Mistusbishi (they always looked strange), especially now that Fiat sells the exact same vehicle... I'd go for the Hilux, kinda looks like a traditional Land Cruiser

    • @tounovtwin
      @tounovtwin Před 5 lety +2

      No body would by them here in the UK due to the engine size. The fuel prices in the UK are horrendous, due to our greedy, untrustworthy fat, old people in government. TAX TAX TAX Everything, everyone to breaking point.

    • @arnemaeschaelck5012
      @arnemaeschaelck5012 Před 5 lety

      @@tounovtwin Same in Belgium. The 5.7 V8 comes in a bunch of different cars: Jeeps (Grand Cherokee etc), Dodges, Chryslers, ... but no one would get them in a passenger car, they'd be like €4.000 a year just in road taxes. Even the 3.6 V6 would still be like €2.000. That's a ridiculous amount of money, or at least it is to me.
      However, since it's a pickup, you can avoid all of that. I believe the UK has some sort of flat rate for pick-ups as well, but not sure.
      Run it on lpg (which is also quite a bit more expensive in the UK), and it's way more affordable.
      Gasoline 95, 10% ethanol is currently €1,200/l where I live (107£p), 98 is €1,305/l (117p), autogas is around €0,420/l (38p).

    Mitsubishi rather effeminate, lightly built, historically prone to head gasket issues. On the plus side it is the only one with 'super-select' 4wd system that gives the useful option of full-time 4wd on paved roads and grippy surfaces.
    Ford, great to drive, roomy, tows 3.5 tons without the three axle restriction of the the L200. Very thirsty engines and the 6 speed automatic, while better than the five speed of the L200, is not the best and most predictable box.
    Toyota. Very black inside which shows dust and dirt terribly. Rather uninspiring engines and transmissions and rough suspension.
    All of the above are trucks and don't compare favourably with even SUV's. They all have live rear axles on leaf springs like the old Morris Marina, only much harder to carry a ton in the bed. The Ford, and maybe the Toyota [I haven't checked, but the Ford certainly] is over weight when unladen and is therefore restricted to 10mph less than many other pickups, such as the L200, on many minor and dual carriageway roads. So 50 on A roads and 60 on dual carriageways, which is a pain in the posterior when it is by far the best to drive.

      Ranger despite how good it looks and well equipped it can be, has a multitude of very high risk issues. Hilux may or maynot be as bomb proof as yesteryear models but time will tell, it also only has like 160bhp and the laggy UI on that touch panel looked awful. The L200 is the only pickup in the group that can be used in 4wd on the road which is a god send in the rain.

    No, don't do it, rest of the world. Don't crowd your roads with these the way we have in America! Trucks in the US are popular because most of the country is still somewhat rural and people see them as the default choice - but they don't need them or make use of them as trucks. And it's hilarious to constantly see people with over a foot of suspension height inching slowing over a 5-inch speed hump. Btw, Erin's jacket is cool.

    • @perkin2000
      @perkin2000 Před 5 lety

      Sadly it's far too late for that.
      These vehicles appear to have become the default choice for many over here.
      I won't go into why I think they're a poor choice for the majority who own them, or the reasons why they have become so popular, but to say I dislike them is an understatement.

    • @TheJackman19091
      @TheJackman19091 Před 5 lety +1

      Actually most of the US is urban. But I agree, most people dont even use them for utility purposes. I rarely even drive mine. But tons of people use them for things you cant do in a car or suv and just because it has a bed doesn't mean that it's only purpose is to haul stuff. By your logic, why are people buying more SUVs than cars when they're slightly less efficient, arent used for off-road sport, and have more space in the back than most people need. Maybe just like suvs owners, truck owners like to sit up high when driving. That's a personal preference man and you cant fault anybody for that.

The majority of people who 'buy' new vehicles do so on lease/finance, keep them for less than 5 years and then 'buy' another. Therefore what do Toyota care if their product falls apart after 8 years, the guy with the rusted out 8+ yr old vehicle probably wasn't going to buy new next time in any case so they haven't lost a customer.

    Toyota is not super reliable, i had one for 10 weeks and at 12,000 miles had play in steering, amazing truck for motorways, but felt uncomposed in off road, un-even lumpy conditions.
    Never driven ford, but if you want hair in your new paint and blemishes plus oil coolers blowing up and destroying engines then go for it.
    The only truck you can drive full time 4x4 is mitsubishi, it has puddle lights etc in barbarian spec too.
    Anyway, bit light on actual ownership facts this review....wouldnt base a descision on it....
