talk about a blast from the past, grew up in the 90's and during school dances we'd dance in the gym where it also had like a stage for school plays that was usually cut off with a large curtain, however there always was enough space to be like on the outside of that curtain on "stage". I was one of the few kids brave enough to lead everyone in this dance on top of that stage
I remember in 2nd grade when we danced to this during gym class. It was only the one time but looking back it's absolutely insane how popular this song was before the internet was anything like it is now

Everyone's talking about how they can't believe they danced to this at a wedding or whatever. I agree, but for me, I have this to add:
When I was a teenager, I went to a Christian camp called Camp Concordia (It's in Michigan). Before we ate, we would have a silly prayer and then a serious one.
One of the silly ones was called The Macarena Prayer. With the chorus motions, it went like this:
Come Lord Jesus, come to this a-table, so we may then become strong and able,
Come Lord Jesus, come to this a-table, THANK YOU dear Lord Jesus! (repeat.)
So on top of dancing at a wedding to a song about a cheating woman, I sang a prayer to God to the tune as a kid. :)
PS: Today is 4/2/23 (Palm Sunday), so I haven't been to Camp Concordia in about 7 years. I was too old after high school and didn't want to be a counselor.

I have a friend who's bilingual because she was born in spain, and her parents are spanish.
