Fantastic tips video. I love the Pro mode on this camera. Same with Note8. The 9 is definitely a bit better. It's such a pity reviewers generally don't have any knowledge about using these cameras so stick to auto mode, missing out on the good stuff. That gimbal looks great. Will definitely check it out. Congrats on an excellent video. 👍👍
Just sad that with the pro mode you cant use the second lens..
@@Mike-op5us There's not much point to pro mode with the f2.4 lens. Pro is most effective for low light conditions, and for that only the f1.5 is useful. Even on my Nikon, the zoom lens is only really useful for daylight shots. If you want to manipulate the photo, just shoot in raw and do anything you want. Simple.
@@brianmsahin yeah thats my point :D you can shoot RAW only in pro mode..i bought that phone 3 days ago and I am playing around all the time with it
@@Mike-op5us Yes, it's very flexible, and with a tripod you can get some stunning night shots with it. For a mobile phone camera it's one of the best. 👍 I just got a fantastic time lapse of boats on the Bosphorous a few days ago and it was just as good as any pro camera I've owned. Definitely worth playing around with. Hoping to do a transition day to night this weekend.

What I do hate is that they removed the Dual Camera shooting mode!
Love my phone and the camera is great. I been using it a lot to send pictures to my son medical team, the quality is outstanding
I love the pro mode on the Note 9. Especially if you have a tripod, the long exposure photos are gorgeous 👌🏾

These tips are fantastic!! But, some of these options are greyed out in the camera settings and I cant select..like the tracking af for example. Any ideas ?
Try switching the camera mode (i.e. slow mo to auto). If a setting is grayed out, it means it's not available for that mode.

Hey bud, really helpful video, thank you! Quick question, how do you turn the shutter sound off on the camera on the Note 9? There is no 'Shutter sound' option in the settings. Cheers for your help

Every time I tried to push my camera button (white circle) up for zooming, it changed my picture to a video. I, too, like the gimbal you showed us as wiggly videos are so irritating. I especially liked the tip about a sunny day photo & how to darken it. Thank you so much.

you can also hold down any camera mode as a shortcut to edit camera modes and add slow motion and/or change the order of the camera modes

What screen protector are you using for that Note 9?? What are your thoughts on it and, where can I buy??
The best ones ice tried are tech 21 bullet shield. It's better than glass because the material doesnt scratch, break, or come off like the glass screen protectors I've tried.

I just purchased this phone. I'm a new youtuber and wondering how I can film on my tripod on the front facing camera with out words on products coming out backwards which doesn't look professional obviously. And if I use the rear facing camera, I cannot see myself to see if I'm in frame etc...what's the solution please?? Help! 🤔😘

the very first tip you give is what I need, but my phone won't do it. I had it on the Galaxy 6 but the Note 9 is not showing that feature of adjusting brightness for exposure!!

Thank you! I have so much to learn and have to publish a CZcams video by Halloween. I already recorded several segments of video, not realizing I could change the video setting to Pro, now I'm trying to upload them to my computer to I can put the individual segments together, do a voice over, add text, music... I could use a five hour course on this. I'm surprised there aren't courses offered for Gaxaxy phones like they do with the Iphones.

I'm never on Twitter, lol. I paint furniture for a living and I'm trying to get set up so I can do year round tutorials for painting furniture techniques. I'm in Michigan and the weather is getting too cold to work with the overheads open so I purchased some lighting and I'm going to make a make-shift studio in one stall of the garage so I have a go-to place to shoot. Getting the space set up tonight and tomorrow and hopefully, I'll have sufficient lighting. I definitely prefer to use natural lighting but when it gets too cold to paint, I have no other option ~ unles I move south :D I may just contact you once I get to that point. My next Live on Facebook happens Sunday.

I just got a Pixel Pro for the "camera upgrade" supposedly...but I cannot find all of the features my Note 9 had..like Pro mode especially. I am looking to see if i can get those features my note had for my pixel..but so far I like my note camera better....

i have the moment lens attached to my note 9. Does anyone know when does the phone decide to switch between the main lens and the side lens? (b/c i have to move the lens and i just can figure out when that happens) and if i have to keep moving it id rather a another camera (g7x ii)

Hi Jonathan. Love the video, very helpful. I want to ask 2 things.
1.- Reduce flickering...I guess that it's because I have an european version, because simply doesn't exist, unless I have to check/uncheck something (for example, image stabilization is incompatible with FE)
2.- Regarding the gimbal Moza mini mi...looks awesome, but...in super slomo in the camera, there is a button to take the slomos in manual mode, which I find very helpful. Can I shoot this feature from the gimbal?
3- Talking about the gimbal...I guess is risky to use the note 9 on a gimbal "naked" ...If I buy a rugged cover, is gonna be possible to use it with the gimbal (I know probably I will loose the charge feature)

I’m assuming that flicker reduction is only on the Snapdragon models which I did not know at the time of this video but based on the other comments this seems to be the case. From my use and what I can see unless using the Moza app you cannot remap the buttons so assigning the slomo button is not able to be done. Also, using the phone in the gimbal with a case isn’t really recommended but using it with a skin is perfectly fine.

I just think of getting a dji osmo pocket but I already own a galaxy note 9. Now I reconsider my plan since I think note 9 is advanced enough for cinematography etc , but I'm not so sure about it. So I'm really glad if you can give me some advice. Thankyou in advance
But it doesn't have a built in gimbal...I just talked about this on my channel

One UI update took away a lot features.
The worst one is removing the ability to record video in manual mode. It's total disaster.

OK, first tip - I get the square but no light bulb to adjust it and if I hold down longer I get a circle with AE AF lock??
I had it before the update, now it seems to be gone. So it's a downgrade for me.

Hey Jonathan thanks for this video. Got a question for you. I’m considering this phone and am aware that the beauty mode is in effect while in selfie mode even after you select « none ». Can you go around this by using a third party camera app rather than the native app? Alternatively, does shooting selfie in pro mode in the native app get rid of the beauty mode effect? I really don’t Iike it!
Yes to both of your questions. Shooting in pro mode definitely helps and you can disable beauty mode by dialing it down to zero. Also third party camera apps help but the issue is finding a reliable one.

No, it wouldn't have any impact on audio unfortunately.
Jonathan, I have tried adjusting the AF/AE in auto mode, but I don’t get the lightbulb when I touch the screen. Is there a setting I need to change?
No, it should pop up when you touch to focus either on the bottom area of the display when holding your phone in portrait or to the right if your holding it in landscape
Jonathan Casey thank you, so nice of you to respond to me! What I actually found was that I had to turn off the Tracking AF, then I was able to adjust it.
