The engine sounds really nice. Good work.

Looking at that shiny black engine has made me jealous. Tomorrow I'm getting my 42mm socket out and I'm taking off the fan and going to do the same thing. Enjoy all your videos. Wishing I had the finances for a DS Safari but, I do have a GS ESTATE in a thousand pieces. It will be great when finished. Love the music selection. Au revoir pour le moment. Pierre

"I couldn't get this stupid engine to idle" This was my youth. back in the day, I had a Citroen GS special 1976. This car NEVER start or Idle properly but I loved it I miss it so mush.

That was an all time reliable source of inventing new advanced bad words around 30 years ago 😅

What you said about the ignition system on the GS is 100% my opinion too. The conventional ignition system in the GS is the most reliable!

You are the best GS mechanic! I bought a 1:1 identical carburettor for my GS 2 months ago and will be replacing the original carburettor seals in spring 2024... although my GS and carburetor work perfectly. Okay, at least I have the option...

Try the big file trick, I bet there's an slightly uneven surface on almost every used carburetor nowadays. 😊

@@citromec I have heard of that. Thanks for your tips and videos. I also have a replacement gearbox for my GS...but I only want to use it if there are real problems...I was mentally tense while you were working on the gearbox.

I've only recently discovered your channel but I'm enjoying watching these GS/A videos more and more,
they bring back memories of my life in the 80s & 90s when I was working on these models almost every day. I can share the little frustrations that occur (but I think you have more patience than me !) I still have plenty of NOS parts that I saved, could they be useful to you perhaps ?

Hi! During the nineties when I used those cars as daily drives there was always a bit of frustration when something had to be fixed often outside in bad weather 😅
NOS-parts are always interesting, but there's the shipping-issue, which parts do you have?

Hello. I am really enjoying your videos and I have learned loads.
A quick question. I am taking my engine out this weekend. In this video you had removed the bell housing and changed the gearbox input shaft seal. Would it be worth my time doing this while the engine is out? Also what is the exact name of the sealant you are using on the gearbox?

    • @citromec

      Hi!
I would definitely change all gaskets in the gearbox to prevent leaks or more likely stop them. The two outputshafts has got standard radial seals but this one, I'll call it seal for the input shaft, it's got a strange shaft diameter (17.5 millimeters) and just won't be ordered from any supplies store I've found. I think chevronics has got it, I bought mine from Französiche Klassiker.

      Thanks.
Is it possible to get the bell housing off the gearbox without removing the gearbox from the car?
I have watched your video on replacing the radial seals, but you done that with the gearbox in the car. Again can this be done with the gearbox still fitted?
Sorry for all the questions 👍

@@GSBX-fk7hhas long as you remove the driveshafts you can definitely change the radial seals. The bellhousing can be removed with gearbox still in situ, the nuts are reachable I think. 😊
