My brother is going through similar with one of his kids. He told him in no uncertain terms “I’ll love you always, but if you choose to walk down this path, and away from God, I cannot condone you. If you find the lord you may come back.” That’s the best way to handle it.

Let’s not act like Magic is solely coming from the perspective as a parent. Personally, I think being a parent is the last perspective and way that he approached this.
Nobody knows what his real feelings are. What we do know is that if he had any negative public feelings and comments, his businesses would have been affected… Maybe not suffering or collapsing. But it would have been negatively affected. And this played a major part in how he approached this.
Let’s be real… His son went above and beyond with his conduct initially because of his fathers celebrity and his access to Magic’s money for his public shenanigans.
While stated so authoritatively, your summary is still an opinion as is mine that follows. Magic can be upset with EJ's shenanigans and not voice them publicly. Sure money/business could be a factor, but love for his son could restrict any chastisement to a private setting.

Without dad, no one is paying any attention to EJ. But even though EJ was out creating all of the headlines with his actions, the headlines really weren’t about EJ. They had everything to do with Magic as a legend and a brand. That there should always be respected and considered while out in public. There are stories every year of businessmen and celebrities losing their careers over what their family has said or done.
