Where do I begin? 4 days in with owing my 2022 Autobahn GTI in Reflex Silver with only 44 miles, I bought it with only 13 miles on it putting only 31 miles of my own driving in it. I brought it in to the service center at my VW dealership where I purchased the car. I’ve had nothing but electrical problems. I took photos of them because my VW service dept can’t duplicate the issues. Error in Drive System showed up on my dashboard to please service the vehicle then disappears. Travel Assist Not Available showed up then goes away. They had to replace the turbo system. Before I left the service center parking lot I set my dashboard display to a compass dial display that kept disappearing while in their parking lot. They took it back & my voice command wasn’t working they had it about 3 more weeks due to supply chain issues. Claimed it needed a new gateway module. Thankfully I was given a loaner for the weeks & months it’s been in the service center. Fast forward having it back after being serviced twice! My clock kept automatically setting my time zone to Alaska! I’m in California. The stereo played only out of the center speaker like yours. My compass dashboard display keeps disappearing & reappearing. They took it back & changed out the entire radio 5F Module. That’s the 3rd time it’s been in the service center! As I’m tying this now 7/13/2022 my VW has been back in the VW service center since 6/14/2022 AGAIN! Error message on dashboard rear traffic alert not available displayed on my dashboard, all my parking sensors worked intermittently. The Emergency Control Module needed to be replaced & is on order. I have photos of EVERYTHING. I’m thankful to have been given a loaner during all these electrical issues. All these newer model loaner VW’s I’ve been driving 2021, 2022 Jetta, Passat, Taos, nothing compares to the Autobahn GTI! I’m getting my paperwork together to either get a buy back as it’s obviously a Lemon Law problem with all these electrical issues or I would like another compensation as I didn’t buy these loaners I’ve been given! They did give me 2 months of my payments back previously but now they’ve had my car in service longer than I’ve owned it. I’m trying to get further compensation. I love my GTI! She drives amazing compared to all these new loaners I’ve been given! Thought I would share my experience with you & your viewers. No problem. Wow what. A. Story. Ive experienced some if the issues that you experienced. When i took it in multiple times to VW they couldn’t recreate anything which is very disappointing. i should have taken photos like you have. But you seem to have worse. Good for you for making them buy it back thats the right thing to do at that point. Are you buying another one?
@@ShepsGarage I would love another Autobanh! Such a fun car to drive. But I’m afraid if I order the same model other issues may come up. I found out today the part is delayed at Customs in Germany. Curious what would you do if you were in my position. At least they’re taking care of problems. Not sure..,I’m gathering all the paperwork. Lots involved in a buy back lemon law issue. With supply chain issues, I may end up with a car I’m not as happy driving. The Autobahn is so fun!! 🚙💨
I would buy another one, it seems like you really enjoyed that car. It probably was just a one off car in your situation. It doesn’t have to be an autobahn to. You could get the SE with the autobahn seats like what I have.
Great video. I love the MK8 but I didn't like how sensitive the car is to someone pulling into a driveway ahead of me, and would brake as I drove upon him about to pass. Luckily, that automatic braking feature can be turned off. Mine definitely is. Plus I also had the sound come out of that one front middle speaker, but it fixed itself. And like you, the issue hasn't returned in months. The only thing weird anymore is, about once a month, the car will start with a different speedometer view than the one I use. But no biggie there.
Hey man, with your issue of the radio only coming out of the middle speaker; rather than power off the car, touch and hold the power button beside the climate and volume controls for like 10 seconds. It will reboot your entire infotainment system and fixes the radio too. Works everytime for me
One of my the quirks that’s really is distracting for me is that the blind spot monitor, would often flash and the steering correct it’s left when I’m changing lanes but there’s a car 2 lanes over. Despite having checked that the lane next to me is clear, it’s making me second guess every time.
The front assist problem happened on my mk7.5 too. Flashed up when cars ahead were turning away from me. My friend has one and his went off when a balloon went infront of his car
I recently just purchased my gti and have owned it for a month now. The only issue I’ve encountered has been the lane assist where it’s not working by at all. I’m actually taking it to VW today, but I believe it’s probably something to do with that front camera…
I have all the same problems. Sometimes the sensors go dark. Music doesnt work occasionally. I drive home in silence and the next day it is back to normal. Overall I love the car, but I wish they would fix these bugs. I won't give it back though, my Pomelo Yellow is just too hot!!!
Awesome, glad you like them. Congrats on the gti. It’s a fantastic car. I got mine in November of 21 That makes sense. Hopefully they bring back the HK sound system. I’ve heard it’s a big difference.

@@ShepsGarage I am going to get the clubsport muffler at some point, and maybe do a tune and some other mods down the road. I’m getting xpel ppf and ceramic coating as well. Going to ride out the warranty!
So I went to test drive one that I’m suppose to be getting tomorrow and I didn’t see the Harmon Kardon badge on the speaker but it’s still showing in the package on that big sticker on the window. Not sure if there’s a charge for it but if there is I definitely need to say something tomorrow when I go back
Glad I didn't move forward on one keeping my mercedes c43 amg. I would look at a mk7 I've had one lucky no issues tuned and all that. Mk8 seems like problem child plus no tuning in the USA who knows how long that would. Seems like a huge hassle. Keep up the videos
I would say it’s really depends on the car. Yes there are alot of problems. If I knew that would i buy one? No. But.. I have a feeling as time goes on the car will even out. I would say that you probably made teh right decision however this car drives like nothing else!
Thanks for posting. I finally gave up on the Mk 8 R I had on order. Even though I put down a deposit on the car the dealer could not pin down a delivery date.... likely not their fault with all the issues in the car world. So I switched to the BMW M240i x drive which still showing in production 2 moths in...In a complete 180 move I switched to a BMW i4 which got to the port of Baltimore on July 9, but can't be released for sale until they fix a software issue having to do with valet parking mode. The fixes expected at the end of July.... To be continued.
On occasion radio function does not work when turning car on and simply disappears, information in the middle of the gauge cluster simply disappears, steering wheel heater coming on randomly (not engaged by accident, no indicator that it was even on), difficulty locking the car to enage the alarm whether by fob or with hand tap on handle (totally inconsistent), experienced a popping sound from the dash when starting car (sounded like a mini-transformer blowing and originally thought a speaker had blown), random messages that some driving systems are not engaged, inconsistent front parking sensor
Purchase my gti in may and had a issue with the transmission only 300 miles it was garage kept and it’s been gone for 2 months just got a new motor and transmission and still had issues and I don’t have the car
Luis, go on the FB group and gauge it. My 22R has been 100% problem free and most owners experience no issues at all. You’re never going to hear from the thousands of owners with no issues, you’ll hear from the 5 who do. Take it with a grain of salt.

That’s awesome! Very good to know, I was wondering if there was a hard reset button but I gave up finding it. I’ll try this if I have another issue.
My car is 1 month old and I just had this issue last night on my way home. I hope this work, otherwise it’s going to the dealership.

Yeah probably I have actionally have seen that to. Unfortunately vw can’t do a lot with the software but issues,
Car with 5k miles on the odometer should have 0 problems.

Wow, exact same issues. Sometimes i want to give it back but there is no other car that drives as well as the new GTI. I just love it to much.

Love these videos! I have a reflex silver SE 6-speed on the way! Due to the chip shortage, VW is deleting Harmon Kardon on the SE trims right now

It is very startling when that crash alert comes on! Also when the auto brake comes on for seemingly no reason and you think you hit something! Lol!
Very startling. sometimes it comes on when i know im not going to hit the object and there is plenty of room to avoid it.

Wow. That’s insane. You should see if can do a lemon law on that. Definitely doesn’t sound normal. Mine as 5600 mi on it and running great
Maybe that’s why there’s a Harmon Kardon delete on almost all GTI with the SE and Autobahn trim.
Could be also of supply chain issues.
