- "This song was recorded for my friend Wayne Forman, the coolest, kindest friend anybody could ever have. When I used to play in arenas I would often mentally aim my playing at him. Wayne loved long guitar solos, and he was my favorite person in the audience to play for. As everyone who knew him is well aware, he was also the best chef ever. When I saw him two days ago, he was laying in front of a CD player, so when I came home I decided I'd make something for him. I recorded this solo for him to hear, but I finished it a day too late, so now it is a tribute to his memory. It is what he would have wanted me to play for him, and it is my offering to his family and friends all over the world, as well as anybody else. Wayno lives in our hearts forever, the greatest guy anybody could ever know. I'm so lucky to have been graced by his friendship. All the love in the world to him.

listening to jimi with my dad growing up he'd always say "you dont jst listen to jimi, u shut your eyes and feel him..never really understood what he was talking about till i first heard john. its no coincidence tht fans of john feel a spiritual connection through his sound, the guy projects emotion and provokes thoughts through 6 strings, well thts what does it for me: oh) and those almost medeival chord sequences maaaaaaaaaan

"So beautiful" seems trite...but it is...taking in the entire song (in the right environment) actually conveys a gorgeous feeling of peace to this listener, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels that...what an amazing tribute.

It's nice to know that John Frusciante is still at it, and creating such a sonic landscape while using so little.
He's one of the few players that I've heard that can take such a supersaturated tone, and be so expressive with it; couple that with the simple drums, bass, and simple guitar picking, you have a piece that will tear at you the rest of the night. Even though it's over, you still want more.
I was excited to listen to this song, I tried last night but it was bedtime and so after school today I rushed to listen to Wayne!
Havent been too fond of his new stuff recently, but this has restored my faith, Gotta love Frusciante on the guitar. Also, R.I.P Wayne, Im sure he was a beautiful man.

There are guitars in his new music, just obviously, not as many. It's very interesting, intricate & subtle. amazing as always. But I totally agree its so good to hear him play a solo again.
John always amazes me with his mastery of chord progressions and creativity in his use of chords, i personally think they are the secret to his solos, that and his unique timing of notes to the chord played under it =)

This song is amazing...I can also truely understand it, because somehow my best friend died, too...He was the drummer of our band (me the guitarist) and we had known each other for over 4 years. But because of a misunderstanding he now hates us, doesn't talk to us anymore and ended everything. I really wish I could do anything.

that's kind of a hard thing to say don' you think? i mean, changing, and moving constantly towards new music, new styles and new creative sources is amazing, and the way john does it makes it even better, but you can't say that staying in the same "style" is doing the same thing over and over again. yes, this is a long guitar solo, and yes we've all heard him play long guitar solos before but each one is different, and each one has a new special feeling and universe inside, and that's special
