STORYLINE:
Mourners in Jerusalem on Tuesday attended the funeral of Master Sergeant (res.) Nahman Natan Hertz, killed in a drone attack claimed by Hezbollah.
Hertz, 31, was one of two Israeli soldiers killed by the explosive drone that struck the town of Metula, an area in northern Israel on Monday.
Joanna Hertz, the wife of Sergeant Hertz, said the whole nation of Israel is proud of her husband.
The Lebanese militant group Hezbollah has exchanged near-daily strikes with Israeli forces in the border region - and sometimes beyond - for almost seven months against the backdrop of Israel’s war against Hezbollah ally Hamas in Gaza.
Strikes by Hezbollah have killed at least 10 civilians and 12 soldiers in Israel.
Israeli strikes have killed more than 350 people in Lebanon, most of them fighters with Hezbollah and allied groups but also including more than 50 civilians.
Western diplomats have scrambled to halt the hostilities. Hezbollah, an ally of the militant Palestinian group Hamas, has maintained that it would stop its attacks on northern Israel when the Hamas-Israel war ends.
Israel, which sees Hezbollah as its most direct threat, has not ruled out a war in southern Lebanon.
