- During the peak of modernisation many engines and areas were getting cut down thanks to The Beeching Axe. This caused some steam engines to run away in fear of being scrapped next, in hopes they could find somewhere to safe and hide away from British Railways. But unfortunately, many were found out and got hunted down by the D.J.D (Diesel Justice Division) and were returned back to their scrapyards to be cut up.

This was one of the darkest Specials I have ever seen. The characters were good and what a villain Shaw was and Maria is like Harley Quinn to him. I loved Loughborough, Ryan, Meryl, Richard, Benjamin and Naval. They were my favourite in the Special. The voice cast were incredible and I am so proud of them. I want to say well done and congratulations to #MrAthehedgehog for his splendid job on the Special, and thank you for giving me the role of 65. It was a joy to voice him 😀 .

I gotta say as evil as D5701 is, trust me he is a terrible diesel, but I find him quite fascinating in the story. At the very least you can say that he’s loyal, believes in his cause, and values the lives of his fellow diesels. Now if only he spread that compassion to steam engines, then he could be a really useful diesel.
However even though it’s made clear that he hates steam engines or the very least doesn’t think of them very highly it is interesting to note that he doesn’t seem to relish the thought of hurting them. It comes across more like he’s just following his orders. Obviously that’s no excuse but at least that means he doesn’t like the idea of torturing engines.
Except that 04 shunter
He was a traitor to the diesel cause he was the one who started this little charade by allowing those 2 engines to run away and I tell you he paid with his life 30:13
He’s a 28, the only one that got painted br blue as he was the final of his class (or in ttte the last in service, as Boco/5702 is preserved on sodor) and he’s unreliable. Doing the dirty work may extend his service

Diesel Justice Division, I see what you did there, shouldn't have been a surprise considering this version of Rodrick is based on Tarn.
This put a possible theory in my head. With the introduction of the DJD, they may eventually hunt down diesel 10 as a reference to the IDW transformers comics

In Southern Wales, there was place known as the "Barry Scrapyard".
When the Diesels took over on the other railway, 297 Steam Engines were sent there to be cut up for scrap.
I'm pleased to say that 213 of these engines have been preserved and are running on Heritage Railways all around the United Kingdom.
I'm sorry to say that one of these engines wasn't in a good way when he arrived at the North-West Railway, but the Fat Controller and his engines soon saw to that!

This is amazing!, Rodrick and Goyle kinda remind me of Zorran and Zak, one of them think they can led the team better and thinks the other is too soft to lead. I also like the good dynamic between Levi and Rodrick too, they clearly trust each other alot.
I really enjoyed this. If I'm being honest, Shaw Savil deserves to be scrapped. He's such a nasty guy and abusive towards Marvin. Since this started I immediately thought: "Yep, this guy is gonna get his backside kicked." Interesting portrayal of Levi and Roderick. Particularly Roderick. Having him being a bit more mindful rather than just scrapping Steam engines on the spot.

This special is much more dark and gritty than the 1963/69/86, especially seeing Ryan and Duchess in this situation, to go along with the domaintator and mental villain, Shaw, his mischievous partner, Maria, in this escapable plan to go with Meryl, Richard, Sarpalius and 65.
It's also pretty bittersweet out of Roderick's orders and sentence from the BR to take the engines for scrap under their contracts.
at least, Naval saved Meyrl's life and returned her to reunite with Eliza.
I bet Ryan and Duchess will be saved by preservation, Lucas and Maria have got a safe hideout, and Benjamin wish that Sarpaliaus is out of the withdrawn from service.
we already don't know about what happens after these events, but they were different.
Now we can watch the previous specials back to back in case of unchrongoincal order.

After rewatching NWR1991’s NWR Tales Ryan episode, I can happily say that Ryan was saved, but was probably relocated to a smaller scrapyard where Sir Topham Hatt bought him.

Truly is the darkest special you have to date. In Shaw's world, it's like an HBO special with plenty of swearing and corruption. By contrast, the Diesel Justice Division are like the Inquisitorius, with Roderick acting as Grand Inquisitor.
At least we have some comic relief here.

The DJD (Diesel Justice Devision) kind of remind me of the FBI or the police, they do orders and aren't really that harsh when they don't need to be (at least, Rodrick (the leader) and Levi (the rookie) aren't harsh).
Their based off of a group decepticons from the transformers franchise.
MrA, i really like what you did with the DJD. From just random search diesels (as show in the books) to an official hunting crew popular among steamies and diesels alike.

Duchess actually did escape because Thomas meet her she is the Royal Engine. Shaw actually escape but he got what was coming to him since he has not been restored and i think he is in pieces
