  • This is a tool-assisted speedrun. For more information, see tasvideos.org/...
    TAS originally published on 2024-08-20
    Pokémon Gold and Silver form the second generation of Pokémon, after Pokémon Red and Blue. The main differences between the generations is that the game is now in full color, and that there are 251 Pokémon instead of 151.
    CasualPokePlayer ( tasvideos.org/... ) improves over the previous movie ( tasvideos.org/... ) by 01:08.89 by avoiding the use of Hidden Power.

    Wait is this a pokemon TAS that isn't haunted by the obnoxious red bar sound?

    • @its_cdn
      @its_cdn Před 23 dny +18

      There's no benefit to having a red bar for generation 2. In generation 1, it allowed text and jingles to be sped up. And in generation 3 and beyond, having less than a third of your health activated the starter Pokemon's ability, which often meant it was better to always be at low health. Generation 2 doesn't have Pokemon abilities, nor does it have any text/jingle skips, so there's no need to be in red bar.

      @@its_cdn That's pretty cool to know. I kind of guessed at the jingle cut-off but never even thought about the abilities of starter Pokemon.

      @shile9k Před 23 dny +9

      If something can happen by luck, or don't happen by luck (critical hit, miss if the attack isn't 100% accurate, DV's of wild pokemon, random encounters, the attak your opponent does, ...) TAS let you "choose" the "script". So there isn't RNG, everything is optimized

      @@shile9k thanks for the explanation

    • @andresraffler
      @andresraffler Před 23 dny +10

      rng is determined by your inputs, and because normally you aren't conscious of what buttons you're pressing at all times the game seems random to you. but in a tas where you can control exactly what buttons you press at all times, you can control the "randomess".

    • @BoltTheEmolga
      @BoltTheEmolga Před 20 dny

      Yeah looking it up, it somehow has a 255/256 chance of lowering accuracy. So of course this TAS manips that because it’s less text.

    • @deathblowringo4168
      @deathblowringo4168 Před 18 dny

      In Generation II, Mud-Slap has a 99.6% chance for the secondary effect to happen. This also happens with Icy Wind, Zap Cannon, Dynamic Punch. I don't know if that also happens in Pokemon Stadium 2. They all changed to be 100% (always) for the secondary effect in later generations.

    • @Landofwolves666
      @Landofwolves666 Před 18 dny

      I was mostly confused because there is an instance in that fight where he does get the accuracy drop.

    • @BoltTheEmolga
      @BoltTheEmolga Před 18 dny

      @@Landofwolves666 Maybe the RNG to get that 1/256 is so far away that waiting for it to line up is slower than just getting the drop? RNG progresses every single frame so it could just not be up for a while.

    .... It took me 3 years to get to Lance and that was half the game... This man just did it in 2 hours...
    Also I accidentally deleted my 3-years long save file because I didn't know you had only one... It's sad... And all because I saw youtubers do Nuzlockes and wanted to try one too... 0:38 It was this section that made me think that I could have multiple save files because the multiple names made it look like those names were different save files... But that's a fucking lie... I lost all my Pokémon, my 2 or 3 shinies, my Silver version exclusive traded Pokémon bc a different friend had Silver on his 3DS. After all, I played Pokémon Gold on 3DS because my EX-BFF gave it on my birthday... That day I was in school because there was a cowboy themed prom... My very first Pokémon Game... Hearing New Bark Town's music legit made me cry a little because bittersweet nostalgia... Why bitter?
    Well...
    A few years later covid happened so everyone was on edge, began feeling lonely and yearned physical socialization. I lost my BFF... no, not death but... arguments and me suffering of depression so I was a jerk but didn't mean to. How? Well I went through some horrible traumatic events that ruined my life and changed who I was... I once was fearless, cheerful, loving and energetic... Now I'm nihilistic, afraid of judgement, feel inferior, feel like a failure, I seek validation and praise so I can tell if I do something good or bad... I never feel good enough... I'm a husk of my former self... and the people who ruined me left me with social anxiety and framed me and backstabbed, causing my depression as mentioned earlier... Sometimes I even think of ending it all... but I'll have therapy next year... I'm now 22... So with that tragic double trauma tied to my Pokémon game, I just... I couldn't do it... So I never picked it up again...
