Great! Be sure to join my vintage backpacking page on Facebook - Jim Thomsen himself is on there!

Oh, my, my. Why did I have to view this video of yours, Doug? The damage is done. I can't wait. You got me on "own a piece of the past". No such thing as accidents! ;)

Cool. On a similar note World Famous is still selling their classic backpacks and haversacks

OMG! I am still using my rust color Wilderness Experience Klettersack that I bought in 1977 or 1978 for rock climbing. I looked at newer day packs but couldn't find anything I liked better. I sewed on some exterior pockets, added some webbing loops to clip on gear and added a sleeve inside for a hydration bladder to update it. The waterproof coating from the inside of the fabric is long gone but the outside of the fabric shows zero wear after all these years.

They are bomb proof! Sounds like you've put a lot of love into yours. Awesome.

Doug, have you worn any of the packs out on trail? I would love to purchase one of their daypacks for actual use but wondering about the comfort levels of the pack. Obviously they were used effectively in the past by many, but packs are so nice now that I’m wondering if these are now obsolete?

I’m also a guitar player always looking for vintage or recreated vintage gear, I’m not sure my wallet can handle on the hiking side
