      @@tysontyson1244 Subaru's biggest mistake was removing the 5 or 6 Speed manual transmission from some of it's popular models Outback, Forester, Legacy and most recently the Crosstrek. They were fun, and not only solid as a tank but also the most reliable cars money could buy, by a country mile. I am still driving my 2010 5 speed manual in town and on long journeys, never ever had a major or minor issues other than the regular expected maintenance. • @PlywoodFraternity
      @PlywoodFraternity Před 5 měsíci +1

      Unfortunately, there simply aren’t enough customers interested in a manual transmission. It would cost Subaru, millions to develop and implement a manual transmission for the Baja and the brat, and they likely would not recoup the money they spent on sales. The WRX has already proven that considering they sold more models with the CVT than they did with the manual and the WRX is literally a rally car. It’s sad but I think the market has killed the manual.

      Subaru will never go back to a geared transmission except for a possible new WRX sports car. They are making too much profit on "one size fits all" concept. A Subaru truck will not be anymore capable than a Wilderness Outback. When they adapt Toyota's proven hybrid system(2025), it will price them out of their normal market. Toyota never sold that many Hybrid Rav4 because they were too expensive. Except, even with a CVT, a new Brat will still put everything in its class to shame.

    They really should add a turbocharged or supercharged engines as options to the Forester, and Crosstrek CUVs. A smaller forced induction engine that brings on the torque at low rpm would not only improve performance, but also overall fuel economy. Or introduce hybrid models that have electric motors to improve low end torque on both the Forester, and Crosstrek. Low end torque is something that is needed on off-road vehicles.

      Yeah, I think the "shocking" part is that Subaru is still rolling with the wheezy 2.5L engine as the cars get heavier. That engine was available in 2013 when I bought my 2014 Forester XT. I could go for a hybrid if it gave the 2.5 a bit more punch in a useful range of driving. I'm also curious as to what markets this video is talking about. Are the Baja and Brat coming to the US market? And when? The dude lost me when he talked about 0-60 in 8 seconds as "fast". DId I just get teleported to 1990?

    ....A WRX Brat or a WRX Baja with a turbo boxer engine/6 speed would get me out of the Ridgeline I'm currently driving. As soon as they're released I'm at my local dealer checking them out. LMAO any Suburu in the dealership can haul your mountain bikes to the mountains just fine. You must never have owned a Subaru to make that statement lol. My 22 Outback Onyx XT can haul 4 people, thier camping gear AND their 4 bikes up any mountain road a new Brat will. You do know that one doesn't need a rally car to go into the mountains, right?

    • @SM-McKraken
      @SM-McKraken Před 4 měsíci +1

      In fact, my 22 Outback Onyx XT is far, far more capable off road than my 2004 WRX was. My manual WRX had 237hp, standard sedan clearance and a stiff, road-tuned suspension. And ZERO X-Mode. My current 260hp OBOXT with almost 9 inches clearance and softer suspension, would smoke that li'l WRX over ruts and washboard dirt roads. And do it with way, way more comfort and ease. And again, it's hilarious you think you need a rally car w/stick to get into the moutains with your bikes 🤣.

    Cannot agree more with you and the other comments here the CVT is the weakest part of the Subaru drive train and has been for years. It's shameful they don't let their engineers work on a better transmission. I also did not agree on getting rid of the 3.6 engine. If they would have put a turbo on that it would have been so much better than the lame and tame 4 cylinder motors they have now (non WRX). I for one will never own a non turbo Subaru as they are so under powered.
    Please Subaru keep the 6 speed manual and start working on a double clutch or 8 gear auto and dump the old tech CVT.

    What's really shocking is that ALL these new Subarus (and some recent ones) *monitor you 24/7.* They record video of you, and your family. They record audio of you, and your family. They use GPS mapping to see where you go, and how long you're in various places. They monitor and log how you drive, so be on your best behavior constantly. The new Subarus even 24/7-monitor areas *around* your car, wherever you're parked, picking up people's conversations, logging wifi info, cellular info, taking people's pictures without permission. And you can't delete any of this information. Subaru might provide you with some thin notice of this in the manual, but it should be written in big letters on a sign before you buy the car. "WARNING: This Big Brother car monitors you and your life, and the lives of all those around you. If Subaru records anything, it is instantly the property of Subaru, and Subaru refuses to delete the info." I just want a reliable CAR, not a constant invasion of my privacy. I used to really like Subarus. Sadly, many new cars also have this "feature." Big Brother govt. and corporations are one thing, but what happens when hackers steal this info and use it... for whatever it is they use it for? What happens when someone discovers that your 14YO daughter is cute, and they know everything about her patterns and your patterns? They can take anyone they want, whenever they want. Is this the kind of world you want? If so, then SHOP SUBARU.

There is nothing in the range (in the UK) that is tempting me back now. I might see snow once a year and purchase prices are very high here for what you get. I love my Legacy, but it does have a CVT, which is fine, for the most part, except for the fact that it tries to emulate a regular automatic. I typically bypass that by engaging the cruise control at 20 mph and continuing to accelerate to the desired speed. I've never understood why they'd go with a CVT and then try to emulate a regular automatic.

    Hi folks. My humble 07 Forester 2.5ltr fuel injected (no turbo). A 5-speed dual manual ’10 forward gears and two reverse and LSD on the rear axel’ I love it, it did 160k before first break pads. (My trusted mechanic said green brake pads they look like the originals, hum Yes!) I know how to click all the high/low cogs on approaching any challenging situation. ‘That’s including speed humps and roundabouts” I don’t feel that SUBARU has improved it’s ground clearance or on the dual speed '10speed' gear box. I also recall in the 80’s the Leone rally version had adjustable height. So the 'dark horse' would be more impressive with some good features from the past!!!

    I've got an Outback with the rare, and getting more rare every day, 3.6, flat six, normally aspirated engine. The geniuses have decided the six is out--on other brands too, and turbos are in. Maybe they are right, after all if you deisgn in enough strength to take the turbo power, maybe those engines will last, I just know I like my six and get up to and over 30mpg's on the highway. And it is more than enough power for a non racer like me.

    I would totally buy the brat if it can fit my 2023 canam 700 quad in the box and it doesn't have subaru cvt transmissions which i hate with a passion. I do hope the brat comes with the flat 6 engine instead of the 4 cylender would rather have the extra power and torque especially if your going to be pulling trailers. Currently drive a 05 forester xt 5apeed. 3:56

    They need to bring back the turbo charged version of the forester touring model. I know 5 people that own them and they won't buy a new Subaru because they don't have anything new that even compares to the old 2014 turbo charged Foresters.

    • @SM-McKraken
      @SM-McKraken Před 4 měsíci

      Yeah maybe in the Forester lineup... but no stock 2014 Forester XT is going to pull away from a stock 22 Outback Onyx XT in any situation. And a recent year OBOXT will do it all with more refinement and grace. Don't get me wrong, those Forester XTs were awesome for what they were, but to say that NONE of today's Subaru models can compare to them is simply fanboy chatter.

    We did own a Baja for quite a few years and then we traded it in for a Forester. Big mistake. We now have an Outback and a Santa Cruz. The Santa Cruz does not come close to the quality and handling of the Outback. I would definitely trade in the SC for a new Baja.

    7:20 all Subaru models, except maybe the WRX have a CVT now. Stop going on about this.. nothing anyone can do about it. you want a regular geared auto transmission, buy a truck. Stick shifts are mostly gone. And the CVT that Subaru uses will last, as long as you ignore Subaru America’s advice and change the fluid every 60k miles, or 30k if you tow a lot.
