I don’t why it’s so unbelievable that some people don’t recognize these stars. What’s unbelievable is that you're oblivious to the fact that some people simply aren’t interested in certain types of music, sports, etc..
It's not because they're not recognizable, but rather they're not drawing so much attention to themselves. Bodyguards, an entourage, paparazzi - all of these things draw attention and without them, they could easily hide in plain sight even without anything to cover their face.
True. You could put the world's most famous footballer in front of me, and I wouldn't know. Same with baseball, snooker, basketball etc. etc.
I wouldn't know or recognise lots of famous actors or musicians too.
I reckon many famous people go around with bodyguards and an entourage not for protection, but because it marks them out as 'special'. Strip away their limo, expensive clothes and image, and miost celebs could probably blend into a crowd quite easily.

Honestly, the older (I am not old, I am only 33) I get the less I recognise celebrities, you don't care as you age and you tend to get more excited meeting has been celebrities of your childhood.
I don't know why people go crazy when they see celebrities, I always give them their space whenever I encounter them, they're people just like us.

I admit I don’t know 8 out of 10 these people.
These people not being recognized makes sense to me , the only one I recognized was Paul McCartney on this video.
But I don't watch sports or much tv.
I've never even heard of half these people. And half of the half that I _have_ heard of, I don't know what they look like. I feel as though there are two groups in society, one that works so much that it consumes very little media, one that spends so much time consuming media that it barely works. And except for vacation time at Christmas, I am part of the former group.
Everybody knows a celebrity when they see one. Most of that list are minor celebrities in a given field that enthusaists might recognise but they are not true cultural celebrities.

Not everyone watches television, or movies or follows entertainment. So of course some people don't recognize them and some just don't care. The surprising thing is the assumption that a celebrity feels they should be recognized and given special treatment and are shocked when that doesn't happen yet all they do is complain about how they are people like everybody else well then deal with not be recognized, like everybody else.

As a new yorker, I get why they like to come here. Yea, it's very busy, sometimes we're in a rush and we just don't notice much of our surroundings, but even if it's our day off and we wanna drink a coffee (in Manhattan mainly because that's where like to hang the most) and even if we actually see who the celebrity is, someone as famous as Tom cruise or The Rock, we just don't care lol. We got our own lives to worry about. If I see, let's say, the Arctic Monkeys or any Metallica member (2 of my favorite bands), I might stare at them for a few seconds, take a picture maybe but I wouldn't wanna go up to them because I think it's rude and they should be able to enjoy their peace and day off as well. I'm originally from south brooklyn, and one of my co -workers used to live on the same block as Maggie Gyllenhaal (Jake Gyllenhaal's sis) and when Jake used to date Taylor Swift, they would apparently walk around park slope or cobble hill and my co-worker would spot them. She also passed Maggie many times and both have said good morning to each other 😂

The part people forget about famous people is the "people" part. Out of the usual context (apart from maybe music artists, who usually look super distinct), celebrities will just look like your regular Joe Shmoe Doe or whatever, going to the supermarket.

I live in NYC. See celebrities all the time and everywhere. I just don't care. I've had some nice exchanges with some when they engaged with me. I don't worship people like that. Sometimes they are unrecognizable when all the hair, clothes and makeup are gone Totally different people when the smoke and mirrors aren't used.
I once stopped a very tall big black gentleman to ask if i could use his phone to call my friend at the mall he very kindly gave me his phone to make the call right after i made the call my friend told me he's a professional basket player he told me who he was but now i don't even recall his face but he was very kind👌

I can't blame some people sometimes they are star struck. I come from where a lot of Hollywood movies have been made ever since I was a kid in the 80s.
I'll just be casual . Although sometimes Id like to just say hello, I still keep to myself. They seem to be insecure they will be rushed by people. I'd never rush a celebrity. If they want to blend let them blend. If they want communication let them communicate first. They have the right to walk freely and enjoy the world.

I wouldn't have known any of them. Have you ever heard of the acapella band Home Free? They have millions of world-wide fans. Along with (literally) hundreds of music videos they have a series called "Home Away From Home". They simply wander about whatsoever city they're playing in - no security, no body guards - and no-one notices them nor do they expect anyone to do so.
I went to college with one of them. People like hearing that story, and I’m like…so? 🤷♀️😆

The main reason why I wouldn’t talk to a celeb in public, because I am being careful not to greet someone that happens to look like them. Remember there’s plenty of look-a-likes around the world. Great plastic surgeons. Talented impersonators. Not to mention, hugely talented makeup artist that can make themselves look like their fav celebs.
