- as soon as we grouted our bathroom floor tile, we got the grout so dirty because we failed to cover and protect the grout from our boots while we continue to remodel the rest of the bathroom. It's been 1 year since it got caked and stained, leaving it the perfect opportunity to use the new Versa power cleaner from DREMEL. The Dremel Versa is a battery powered rotary tool that uses brush and scotch-brite pads to clean your work area. In this video we will be doing a comprehensive review of the Dremel Versa power cleaner.

Thumbs up for the honest review!!!!
Thanks for the review Alex. Looks pretty useful for that application.
Hey, thanks. i really like the idea. especially the splash guard
I bought one of these not long ago. On the plus side, with the heaviest, most abrasive Brown scrubber pad that came with it I quickly removed a toilet bowl ring that had defied all other hand scrubbing and chemical treatments. ( My wife's comment was that if this was the one and only thing that the tool does well, she's OK with that!). I also found that it works moderately well for removing heavy mineral laden soap scum and scale from a fiberglass shower stall, but ran out of battery juice after about 10 or 12 minutes which is a definite check mark in the minus column. ( A Quick maintenance cleaning every 2 or 3 weeks would probably make more sense than letting the grime and grunge build-up for months before attempting to clean it with this tool, Of course we have to be careful to use a scrub pad with low abrasive action or risk damaging the fiberglass surface). I did discover that some garden variety scrub pads will stick pretty well to the Velcro like plastic Flange, and so you can probably make your own scrub pads by cutting them from ordinary scrubbers rather than buying the special more expensive ones that Dremel makes. Next I will probably try it on the glass ceramic stove cook top, but I will have to try the softest and most delicate scrubber or sponge accessory pad 1st to make sure it doesn't scratch or scuff. The real test of its usefulness will be if it can sit in a drawer for several months and still have a full charge on the batteries when we pull it back out to use it again. Anyway, I would say that this is a good tool for quick clean up jobs around the house, but if you need to do pro longed cleaning with a lot of hand pressure, you might want to try some other kind of tool such as a oscillating multi tool that has been adapted to work with a scrubber or brush, likely a strictly do-it-yourself kind of modification, or perhaps a modified cordless plm sander that has been similarly modified to accept a scrubbing disc or brush attachment.
Did he ever finally utilize the tool? I couldn't watch any longer My God... went on and on and on...
Timothy Belden he use it for about 30 seconds. Waste of time review
We'll never know
I find it to be an awesome idea, but that battery life would make it a no go for me. Nobody wants to have to stop mid clean and charge a battery
I agree. Brilliant concept, especially the splash guard.
Buy 2. One working as the other charges
Love that you have the USA flag in the video.... and all the crazy funny antics too. LOL
Too much inane chatter
Awesome channel, just discovered you! #subscribed
save my money, I almost bought it. Battery life is an issue for sure. Subscribed! Liked!
Milwauke just came our with an M12 angle die grinder. Just bought it, and its amazing. Its a better alternative if youre still looking !
@@MitchRichard65 thanks for sharing and advice
They should've made this tool with rechargable with extra batteries
Dyin' for a lightweight rotary cleaning tool! I've got a bad back...tubs n tiles are rough these days. Got so excited when I saw that Dremel came out with this...but the 10-15 minute battery life won't fly. Thanks for the honest review.
I know Im asking randomly but does anyone know of a way to get back into an instagram account??
I somehow forgot the password. I love any tricks you can offer me!
@Alberto Rogelio instablaster =)
@Alvin Clay I really appreciate your reply. I found the site on google and im in the hacking process atm.
Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Alvin Clay it worked and I actually got access to my account again. I am so happy:D
Thank you so much, you saved my account !
@Alberto Rogelio No problem xD
10-15 is nothing. I almost bought it so thanks for this review! They should design it to have an external battery that is easy to switch. On two batteries you could run this puppy for at least 0.5hr at once. It would be way better!
well, many electric devices run out of battery very fast. Shaving electric machines, electric scooters, etc.....
that was the first thought that popped into my head.
Milwakee let's goo!!! That tool would be great in the m12 lineup
I clean houses for a living. I am hoping the Dremel versa will make my job easier!
yes . That would make an incredible tool for the job.
How do you price your homes for cleaning I'm in VA
You could have used your dremel oscillating tool with a metal brush to clean your grout faster. Back and forth motion is the standard for cleaning grout lines instead of circular motion. Circular motion is used for large areas with tiles.
metal scratches porcelain tile
@@MrBuildit That is why you get a tooth brush with metal bristles. The width of a tooth brush will fit standard grout lines.
I have been reading reviews on this and some are saying it will just intermittently shut off, having to click the power switch several times to get it to turn back on. Is this an inherent problem or maybe is the user putting to much pressure? Is anyone else having this problem?
i think the tool does that once it gets closer to low battery, it seems like a design to indicated low charge. you can still get a few minutes of run time after.
Can it be used while charging, because if it can’t they’ve missed a beat.
I'm so sad, I really wanted this to work! I absolutely hate cleaning my stove and grime has been piling up! Lol. I also have to clean our bathroom grout and scrub off the tile sealer on our newly remodeled restroom and regrout and reveal. I hope they revise the tool soon😁. What was the company's response to your review? Or who asked you to review it? I didn't catch that
Shaney Salcido im sure it will work for small jobs. But anything else, battery will be an issue.
I just watched someone else's Dremel review and I found out more in yours in the first 3 minutes than I did in the whole of the other review (which still left me with questions). You answered everything I wanted to know before buying or, in this case, not.
10 to 15 minutes battery per charge? Man, the average BBQ will take much longer than that.
Great review, thanks.
Stephen Wallace thanks so much for the encouragement, Stephen. Glad to hear it helped.
He doesn’t use the machine until 4:46 in the video. You don’t learn anything.
it's not a race. And if you're in an hurry, you're more than welcome to fast forward.
Fein multimaster for the pros. Dremel for the hobbyists
Thanks for the review. The battery life is a bummer but honestly it didn't seem to do that great a job on the grout. Think I"ll stick to hydrogen peroxide and a grout brush.
yeah. perhaps there smaller applications that this might work better on.
add a little water to a small amount of oxi clean to make a paste and apply to grout. let is set about 5 min and scrub lightly with a stiff brush and it will remove all discoloration from your grout. the oxiclean commercial was dead on. I want to try it with the versa instead of a stiff brush. would probably work awesome.
@@annafountain9863 oxy clean Is indeed fantastic stuff and I have found that it works very well for cleaning things that I never imagined it would work on. Such as cigarette tar and nicotine! You'd think you would need something oil based to remove that kind of tar but fresh oxy clean crystals in warm water are amazingly good at removing cigarette smoke.
Towards the end of the battery life does it lose its oomf? I was gonna use it to buff out paint chips on my car.
50hellkat2 no. It just turns off.
You cant just buff out a paint chip
Does rigid have a brush head for the multi tool
No. Not yet
I Already have a Milwaukee oscillating multi tool, cordless type. I bought one of the rubber bottomed triangular heads for it that they use to attach a sanding pad to, I'm gonna glue some Velcro to it and see if I can make a scrub pad stick to it.
Hey man, great honest review there. 👍
Bummer about the limited battery life, 10 to 15 minutes about 10 to 15 years ago may have been acceptable, not in today's age with all the you bute awesome battery powered tools that last for ages....
As you said, neat concept, fantastic idea, though flawed by inferior cordless quality. Nope, wouldn't buy.
How goes the arm, mate? Looks to be doing rather well....
bill, its doing so much better. excited to get a bigger weight limit on it. 1.5 more and i should be at 90%
Mr. Build It sweet, good to hear that, man.
Bill Carroll I
Subbed
Us it good for carpet?
I ordered two for Christmas gifts but wondering now if I should cancel the order. If you only get 10-15 minutes use, then this should have been made with a swappable battery, so you could have a couple spares charged up and on hand. Looks like in the current form you would need an extension cord to plug the charger into so you could leave it on charge while using it, if it will even work that way.
👍🏻
Can you use while it's charging? Like a corded drill? If so that'd be cool.
That's the bummer deal, you cant. i tried. Would be such a good idea
@@MrBuildit version 2 NEEDS that attachment of wireless or wired
100% true
Just bought mine
So this was two years ago
Let’s see if they(Dremel) heard you
As a guy who spent years as a lead instructor who spent many hours reviewing and grading other instructors in action - you’ve got a lot to talk about and you’re very engaging; that’s great. However, in this type of setting the audience wants answers quickly. I think you can get on stage and get off fairly quickly with the same good results.
Focusing on the Dremel, my biggest worry was the battery life. If this product came corded, I’d buy it in the blink of an eye. I think I’ll pass this time.
thanks?!
yeah. even though dislikes are removed, you can tell what the ratio is with the views and likes. easy skip.
lol you are so hyper, how many energy drinks do you have before filming? I'm curious, are you always so energetic or is it just for the camera?
im always, though i scale back a bit in person
Way too much jabbering before you get to the demo.
bcfbasil your time is important to me. Bahahha
Thanks. @@MrBuildit
I don't know what's more HILARIOUS the fact that he overtly explains every little step or his SARCASTIC response to bcf basil
@@MrBuildit 😂😂
you can skip, just move your mouse, some of us like the way the video is.
I'm new to Dremels, but this thing has been great. czcams.com/users/postUgkxfPgcZ5_Cl0HDUKkMJAKde11YKQZVgMoR The variable speed is awesome and the cordless aspect makes it so easy to work with. I am constantly finding uses for it that make tasks easier. Recently I put in a new deadbolt on one of our doors. I knew I had to enlarge the hold where the deadbolt goes into the door frame. At first I thought I would have to get a big router and figure out how to use it for that, but then I rermembered we have the dremel. I was able to enlarge the hole almost as easy as if I was drawing with a pen. It's also great for grinding our dog's nails done and so many other household tasks.
Great video. I almost bought it but the battery life makes it almost useless. 15min cleaning 2h charging doesn’t work. I might buy it if it would do 20min work and have interchangeable battery. 3 batteries would give enough time and 2 would charge.
How has this held up? Can’t seem to find someone who has had it for 1-2 years. Maybe no one is using it anymore lol
It's 2018, everything should have USB type C adapters!
does USB type C allow for you to use the tool in AC power mode?
Kyle, I Strongly disagree! Especially for this type of device, USB connectors are way too fragile and finnicky, and the upward facing location of the charge port means that water or cleaning solution or some kind of moisture will almost certainly get into the charging jack and cause corrosion and intermittent operation. Have you ever tried to change one of those connectors on any device when they go bad? I have, and it's often nearly impossible. At the very least, Dremel should have designed the tool in such a way that the charge port and power jack could be sealed off completely and protected from moisture.
would this tool help removing urine that has been for years on tiles? anyone tested?
partnered with a nice cleaning solution, yes.
thanks. Also another question, because I've seen some suggestions of using oscillating tools also..is it maybe better than rotary motion for scrubbing something off?
not sure with the science between oscillating and orbital. I know my sander has both modes and rotary definitely is the toughest.
Battery life is a dealbreaker
My wife is Filipino and there is no shoes on in the house lol
Auto detailers everywhere rejoice... no more scrapped knuckles & carpet burns
u make me nervous....... r u on anything? maga till i die
Cool review bro. Now... how to use it to get rust stains off a bathtub?
It's horrible I bought it and keeps turning off due to overheating after only 2-3 minutes of use
It needs a power cord haha
I was thinking of getting one but now🤔 I don’t think so just because of the battery I don’t think it’s a good 50$ investment
I was really wanting one also until I saw the battery life 😕
At 4:46, you finally fired up the machine and I turned off the video. Get to the meat quick. Your videos are LONNNGGGGG, and don’t need to be.
Thanks for the CZcams consultation. appreciate your expertise.
@@MrBuildit turn sown the volume on the music some because I keep having to constantly turn down or turn it up
😂😂😂
@@MrBuildit I love the sarcasm 😂
Rich Schnippel agreed. 7 minute video with 1 minute of actual using the tool. I thought only the British muck about so much in their videos.
Good video overall but too back story to everything.
It's a toy! Get rid of the battery and use a wall plug. A $25 plastic toy that Dremel sells for $50! Nope! I'll pass. 15 minute battery? Ill just use a brush to clean stuff
I was all for it until you said battery life is approx 10 min. and needs more rpm. That's a deal breaker! let me know when they or someone else has one that is powered by a power cord. 🇱🇷🇮🇱🐍⚓👎
yeah, i hear ya. longer life would help
If it's not makita, dewalt, festool, or milwaukee it's just not worth it
You're like up here ''''"'''' but this video would get much fewer dislikes if you brought it down to here ___.
Good review but your video editing for stability makes your walls wobbly and gives me a little headache lol
why this video is not 30 seconds...
Calm down

whats out of sync?
Ur face emotion looks like u r going to cry, or constipation ...
why not both? it was a long day
Show the product more and stop talking so much. Why would they ask you for a product review?
This thing is worthless. Ran out of batteries after 15 minutes
