Mad Dog doesn’t know what he’s talking about with Russ, either! He outplayed Mahomes h2h in both games in 2022, his first with the Broncos, and that was in the worst season of his career.
And is anyone forgetting how he lit up the Chargers in the first quarter of his first game against them and in 2022?
The 2022 season was the worst of Russ’s career, but that doesn’t mean he had no good games that year. To the contrary, he did…5 of them, tbh.
      Seahawks
      Chiefs
      Chiefs
      49ers
      Raiders game-1
Not only did he have a horrible coach and a squad decimated by injuries in 2022, he was injured himself that year and told no one until AFTER he scheduled offseason knee surgery. Mahomes would’ve made sure everybody knew it, sat out the season to protect his image, and let the Broncos lose.
Let Mahomes break a nail and he plays it up like he’s suffering from nerve damage in his throwing arm.
Mahomes is the type to get a thigh bruise or have a brief ankle pain and act like his leg is broken when he’s really in zero pain. Look at what he did during SB57! He was briefly hurt and played it up when things weren’t going his way, and he did it so he would have a ready-made excuse for losing. Once he saw that his team could win, he was fine. He stopped with the phony limping, etc.
Russ in 2016 sustained injuries in both knees, had broken ribs, and had a concussion, and he played the whole season without saying a word. He downplayed the injuries and dragged his team to the playoffs with no run game and half of a defense! Russ should’ve missed at least 8 games that year!
That’s why I respect Russ more than I do Mahomes, but sometimes Russ is too noble for his own good.
No one ever mentions Russ’s injuries. They talk about 2021 like the guy wasn’t seriously injured.
A throwing hand mallet-finger injury requiring immediate surgery is a serious injury for a QB. In fact, it is career-threatening!
He led the league in passing over the first 1/3 of the 2021 season.
Mahomes breaks a nail and the media turn it into a serious hand injury. MAHOMES turns it into a serious injury! Dude overplays it; he fakes it actually (see Eagles), so he can have a built-in excuse if he loses.
Russ gets knee injuries that should require him to miss half the season, and he not only plays but leads his team to the 2016 playoffs.
In 2021, he begins the season by leading the league in passing over the first 4.5 games, and sustains a hand injury that leaves him healthy for all of nine games.
He appears in 14 games because Geno goes 1-2 in his absence and clearly cannot win games, and tries to will his team to the playoffs, nearly succeeding. The media talks about him like he’s washed…garbage.
In 2022, he sustains a knee injury requiring surgery, says nothing, and plays on it. People find out about that but ignore it completely, saying he doesn’t have his legs anymore…that he isn’t mobile anymore!
      Like…what?!!!
Russ will be fully healthy, 100% focused, and removed from the stench of Xenver and the hate he has received over the past two seasons. He will also have a good supporting cast and competent cus hing for the first time since e 2020. Everyone will see the results.
I’ll bet money that he is a top-5 QB this year!

Success in the QB position relies heavily on protection and it's worth noting that Russ has been under siege for at least the last 5-6 seasons. This was one of the motivating factors for him leaving Seattle. As a Hawks fan, one of the most frustrating things was the subpar protection for Wilson and he still managed to be successful. I believe give him more time and the personnel to throw to and he will definitely make the Steeler offense better.

On Fields, you can't speed up if your O line can't block and your receivers can't break free. Come on Dan, as a former QB you should know better

Wilson is a deep ball QB. The Broncos wanted to run Shanahan stuff and it didn’t work. Shanahan basically took the west coast offense and added zone running. Issue is that’s not Russ style of football. He’s more a throw back QB chucking them deep.

  • @BigDaddyBeefPatty
    @BigDaddyBeefPatty Před 2 měsíci

They will reduce sacks by playing for a better team. The O line doesnt even need to be a massive upgrade. Youve got a great run game and an elite defense with a great game manager coach. Those things are going to keep you in it so your QB doesnt need to go get 200 yards and 2 TDs in the second half of every singke contest to have a snowball's chance of winning. When youre ALWAYS playing from behind if forces your QB into taking uncomfortabke chances to try and extend drives. Playing in closer contests will fix a lot of that.

It's not an upgrade. Wins are the only thing that matter. In the last 2 years, the combinations of Pickett/Rudolph/Trubisky and Wilson/Fields have had the exact same number of wins - 19. We will have to wait until the end of the 2024 season to see if this was an "upgrade".

Can you please do Justin Herbert's 4th quart stats. All of a sudden it becomes a team issue, coaching issue or defense issue. He has more interceptions than Fields does in the 4th quarter. Field's issue, I actually watched all his games instead of just looking at the stat sheet. Bears gain a lead in the 4th. The head coach would call a very conservative game plan. The lead was lost bc the defense couldn't protect the lead. Then they would ask Fields and the offense to turn it on again in the 4th. That's impossible, for a coach to completely kill the rhythm of the offense and then try to turn it back on. Watch the Denver, Browns and Lions game tell me I am wrong.

Pickett and Rudolph got to those 10 wins with a 10-3 record combined. Trubisky did nothing but turn the ball over and lose all 4 games he played (JAX, ARI, NE, IND) and almost cost the team the playoffs once again like he did the previous year. Trubisky made the most money of them and contributed zero for the team.

It's always funny watching Dan, who played in the league, spin words around. He pretty much said the same thing I thought when they signed them both. Shannon said it too. Russ is an older Fields (who knows where Fields will be by then), Fields is a younger Russ. If Russ doesn't work in this offense, Fields is gonna be forced to be a running QB. Which isn't gonna help his pocket game, his clock is either gonna stay slow, or be too sped up.
Both QBs problems are virtually the same. Which also comes with being on 2 bad teams. Dan even said it, but had to use all these extra words 😅😅

The Steelers just need a QB who isn't total garbage. All their money is on defense. The real question is does that approach work in the modern NFL?
