The series is great! I pulled the death yesterday (big changes ahead, something old must go, for something new to come) and wasn't afraid at all 😊

🦋I searched for death and it said: 'No emoji found' then, searched and found a 🦋 -- My favorite death card is from 'The Good Tarot' by Colette Baron-Reid and in this deck, it's called: 'Transformation' and the card is a young girl watching a phoenix rise in her hands, and she looks like and is about the same age as my grand-daughter. The message is: 'Nothing remains the same, and I need to accept that life evolves through the cycles of birth, death and rebirth... I am called to let go the old so I can welcome the new.'
That is such a lovely message! I do believe Death is just a liminal space that leads to what is next.
I love that she used the word called. Yes we are called to let go!
Really enjoy this series! I find it so helpful to hear your thoughts (and others comments) on the cards. It is also fantastic that you compare the card across different decks - especially as you have a lot I don’t and the art can really give a different perspective. 🦋💀

🥀 💀 I love this series. My favorite Death cards are the Star Tarot, Tarot of Mystical Moments, Forhaxa Tarot, and Tarot of the Abyss. I loved hearing your thoughts. Definitely a challenging card but one that is often needed. Transitions are hard. Letting go is hard. Finality and not knowing what's next is hard. But without change we would remain stagnant. Symbolic "death" experiences throughout our lives create growth. ❤

Yes, that anxious feeling whenever that death card pops up is visceral... I pulled it in my reading last night.
I'm learning to associate the death card on a symbolic level and tying some phrases to it, such as:
"Something ends, something begins"
"When one door closes, another opens"
"It's the end of an era"
"It's the ending of a chapter so the next chapter can be written"
I like to think of the allegory of the caterpillar transforming into the butterfly.
I see the death card as transition and transformation, trudging through the murkiness of uncertainty to emerge on the other side of a rough situation. Loss will happen but it's a not just a physical loss, it can be an emotional loss, the dying of a belief system or philosophy, or the "way it used to be." CHANGE is the driving factor here.
Edited to add that I love how you showed us the death card from multiple decks so we can see how different artists interpret this archetypal event in all of life.
I think all of those mantras are excellent.
We NEED CHANGE. It isn't always easy, but necessary!

My favorite is Tarot of the Witch's Garden. The mother grieving in the background and the child offering a pumpkin to Death. It's moving and beautiful. Endings are inevitable. And hard. But endings for your greater good, while still hard, are important
I agree! That rendition of death captures all the elements in it beautifully
I couldn't find a grim reaper emoji. My favorite Death card is from the Santa Muerte Tarot by Fabio Listrani. It just radiates hope and light. And it has the cutest little danger noodle in the lower right corner.

I've never seen this deck! I can imaging that it really celebrates death...
As a single child my mum is my everything and I know im gonna miss her so terribly when she will pass by and my heart will be reduced to ashes. But I think i've found a way to help me deal with that, unless a lil bit: my mum loves to knit and crocheting so I bought a knitting theme tarot deck (the yarn tarot) thinking about a proper way to keep and honour our connection, mutual support and unconditional love. And, believe me, it's not easy to talk about it even now or here.
Favourite Death card?? Actually there are two: a butterfly person emerging from its cocoon from the Tarot for all Ages and this stunning semi bare-chested lady exposing her bones and flesh like a sanctuary with lilies growing inside from the Mystical Moments Tarot. They evoke to me all those images/ideas about fragility, an ending, ephemeral, loss, (emotional/ physical) pain and grief but also power, greatness, serenity, peace of mind, dignity and some kind of blessed release.

The death card came up for my sweet kitty a little over two weeks ago. He passed on 1/31/2024. 💔 🧈🐈

Thank you so much for making a right claim to this card even if that is an unpopular opinion. It has been whitewashed for too long. It can and it will stand for actual physical death if that’s what we need to hear. Favorite Death card: The Wise Fox from The Mystical Dream Tarot 🪦
