omg dude you forgot to do the most important thing, building up the roads, they give you more money faster replenishment and batter movement range. Also convert some of them den things to schools by using the button below the torch
+HeirofCarthage Austria had been in a difficult situations back in those times hair especially from Russia over Balkans and Prussia over domination of most German states! But for now most of Europe will have to balance the power and stand against Napoleon!
yaaaaaaaaaaasssssssssssss Heir I just purchased Napoleon and I haven't begun to play it yet (still a budding son of Total War..) so this will be a damn hoot to watch. Your previous campaigns throughout all the games are just fantastic and your commentary is eggscellent.
CA needs to make a Napoleon 2 or some game title close to this time period after they polish and finish Warhammer. I also support CA's decision on not to make trilogy's, for example Med 3... yet. The more games CA produces, the more experience they'll have about what game mechanics the community did and did not enjoy. That experience will make trilogy's (Shogun 3, Rome 3, Med 3, etc.) truly awesome titles. Cool campaign, Heir! Good luck with it, I hope Patchy's lust for land and money will be satisfied.
+HeirofCarthage I hope you enjoy playing it! Keep a few line and cav in border towns so I can mount a decent defense. The auto resolve in this game is skewed to favor the ai so fight most fights and you will do better
+CatnamedMittens “Michael Bialas” I'm thinking they add the entire world in a Empire 2 with more regions like RTW2 / Attila. It would be a great game in my opinion. Basically Napoleon's AI and graphics with Empire's size. Maybe improve the AI as well. But CA never does this.
Heir proves he has his own version of the Rosevelt doctrine while negotiaing with Portugal "Scream loudly and carry a Sap full of Austrian Schillings" :-p
BBC is doing War and Peace, which is set in Napoleon's era. It's not really centered around the war, but it's a classic and tremendously well done. Highly recommended.
Sweet, Heir! I guess you must have seen my comment the other day that asked for some throwback Total War... I appreciate it man! I'm excited for what's to come!
If you want to refer to the money as something else than "money" Austria, Saxony and Bavaria adopted same monetary system in 1748 (which lasted till 1855) which was based on silver standard. The basis was "Gulden of Saxony" or just "Gulden" (often also referred as Florint) which was worth 233,8 grams of silver. One Gulden was divided into 60 "Kreuzer" (from. lat. word cross). So to make it easy for you, I think you should refer to the money as Florints.
I like the idea of being able to threaten as part of diplomacy and would like to see something like that in Warhammer 3... especially if you could also do a greater version of that as a “war ultimatum”, where for example you could demand that a faction break an alliance with another faction and if you added the war ultimatum to that then you would automatically declare war if they refused and they would know that when deciding how to respond.
The French didn't backstab Bavaria, you just missed the confederation of the Rhine event that happens on turn 2. It makes France annex both Bavaria and Württemberg in the coalition campaigns.
HeirofCarthage too bad Empire causes you so much problems with the DMC claims I know you have tried these campaigns many times too. But it is good to see NTW again I loved the old school MP battles too.
One day they'll make empire total war 2 and it will hopefully bring all the new mechanics from attila and rome 2 into it. I really find it hard to go back a title in total war because they've improved a lot of details in handling and UI that makes it so much easier to control your empire. Looking forward to the campaign nonetheless. :)
I really like Empire lol I know so many hate it but I love that I can achieve world domination and with darthmod its great. Tbh I liked it vanilla too.
Napoleon Total War was my first Total War game. Must have played 10+ campaigns in this. 20 pounder unicorns are my favourite artillery. Hilarious when you have 2+ in a single army
+HeirofCarthage There is one thing of epic badassery that Empire lacked though... Napoleon :) But if we were to simply compare both vanilla releases? Empire was probably the most broken game CA ever released and Napoleon was smooth sailing. Regardless of either, both titles had something the new games all lack; unique 'flavor' units. Compare the 18th infantry or the 88th foot to the 8 units per faction in Charlemagne and it's completely depressing the direction the company has gone :(
+HeirofCarthage I just watched the first battle you do and saw the part where the enemy cavalry charges you. If no one's told you, having your men in square formation would have really made the charge turn out more in your favor.
Heir dude your volume levels are all over the place man. Some videos I nearly have to turn my laptop's sound up completely to hear you normally, others on that volume sound way too loud!
Nice! Austria is an amazing empire in NTW. Personally I prefer the Prussians, due to the fact that my Landwehr and Fusiliers end up winning most of my battles.
“There was a barricade I didn’t see and my horses hit it and routed”... in real life horses don’t just commit suicide like that lol, they simply stop and refuse to charge or go around. This would happen a lot in situations with spear walls that did not get intimidated and break and run when getting charged even by knights... the horses stop the charge or run parallel to the enemy formation. I’m not saying they should do that in this game but it does seem like stationary barricades should make them stop or go around instead of stupidly crashing into them.
+Chrisdk23 Although I get your point regarding military units in real life, the AI in TW is so bad that forcing a general and capping army size actually forces them to use a proper army rather than non stop raiding by 2 units in 60 different places.
Heir would you consider doing an overhaul mod for Empire Total War? Maybe after this campaign (next month), there are some really good overhaul mods in ETW with different music so there's less of a chance of you getting copyright claim notices. Let us know, will you?
Heir, since you're returning to Patchy's Austrian roots, could you accompany this campaign with a video or two tracing the story of Patchy, for those of us who never quite caught all the details? Codify the legend. Haha
+Swedz Not in real life that I am aware of. Just the fictional character Patchy does :) Americans should appreciate the fact that certain Austrian economist and other skilled craftsman influenced our country a great deal. Would like to see Austria one day. One of the many places I would like to visit.
There is no music in the background? All I can hear is your computer fan. Not a big deal, though I wonder if you can mod in music or something if the main soundtrack is copyrighted.
Grenades? Grenades??!! Grenadiers in this period were elite infantry, but they did not use grenades. There were no hand grenades in battles. I was thinking of getting this game, but I guess I won't. Sheesh.
I always play as Russia, at this point I control all Russia, all Sweden, all Greece (Ottoman Empire), 2 cities in Austria which I took from France And three Islands in the Mediterranean! (I also hate when the woman constantly reminds you of free farmland)
i never understood why the map for napoleon was so ridiculously small... it gets on my nerves we can't have a magnified map of Europe, North Africa, Scandinavia, Russia, Anatolia and the Middle East.
I am playing this campaign Austria and found it harder to play with the British Empire, Prussia and Russia.... Cities make little money even improving roads, industry and farms .. What should I do?
Hey Heir! Sorry I haven't been watching your videos as much lately...I found your East Rome Campaign really boring and haven't been able to finish it. Nice to see you doing a new NTW campaign for the first time in ages!
I was a bit sick while recording so sorry if I seem easily annoyed. :) I turn the battle difficulty up on episode 2 as well.
I've been waiting for heir to play this game for years and finnaly its here !!!
+HeirofCarthage These sci-fi games are getting boring. Please play some historical games like Hearts of Iron 3 or XCOM.
+Crouchy232323 napoleon is historical, people sure are getting dumber these days.
M0vi3Rat3r
lol. It's based on the book, silly.
omg dude you forgot to do the most important thing, building up the roads, they give you more money faster replenishment and batter movement range. Also convert some of them den things to schools by using the button below the torch
Oh yes, very nice. Very cool campaign incoming, I'll be following it! :)
Hopefully I don't suck to hard
+HeirofCarthage Haha, I bet you'll do just fine!
+HeirofCarthage Austria had been in a difficult situations back in those times hair especially from Russia over Balkans and Prussia over domination of most German states! But for now most of Europe will have to balance the power and stand against Napoleon!
I really miss the upgradeable resources in the provinces concept. Made the maps feel more alive, for sure.
+HitchensImmortal Some of the things on the maps in this game are fun.
I really love how patient you are. I am new to the game and I usually just charge in. Learning a lot from this.
yaaaaaaaaaaasssssssssssss
Heir I just purchased Napoleon and I haven't begun to play it yet (still a budding son of Total War..) so this will be a damn hoot to watch. Your previous campaigns throughout all the games are just fantastic and your commentary is eggscellent.

Cool campaign, Heir! Good luck with it, I hope Patchy's lust for land and money will be satisfied.
+THE-SOLID-BUSH We will need a Medieval 3 and Empire 2 for sure
Oh wow, a Napoleon Campaign! I'll definitely tune in from now on.
+CatnamedMittens “Michael Bialas” Thanks, hope you enjoy it
Thank u so much!! I've been waiting for this for so long! Ur the man dude!
+green mushroom Thanks, hope you enjoy it
+HeirofCarthage I hope you enjoy playing it! Keep a few line and cav in border towns so I can mount a decent defense. The auto resolve in this game is skewed to favor the ai so fight most fights and you will do better
Napoleon Total War. So excited for this and the Rise of the Patchburgs
+Cyan Crab lol thanks. Hope you enjoy it.
Looking forward to where this goes, I've always loved Napoleonic-y stuff since it's pretty rare in fiction to go there.
They need to make a new Napoleon game. :/
well right now CA is running out of ideas. napoleon total war is already a great game, what could they add to make the interesting for player
TheFrencky More units and factions would be a start. This game underrepresented the time period heavily in my eyes.
+CatnamedMittens “Michael Bialas” Wouldn't bother me.
Sun Shower
I'll one up you and say Empire 2 during the Victorian Era. Ggwp.
Heir proves he has his own version of the Rosevelt doctrine while negotiaing with Portugal
"Scream loudly and carry a Sap full of Austrian Schillings" :-p
BBC is doing War and Peace, which is set in Napoleon's era. It's not really centered around the war, but it's a classic and tremendously well done. Highly recommended.
Thanks!
I may check it out.
Everyone should, really. It's the most beautiful piece of film I have ever seen. Every frame or still could stand on itself as an award winning image.
+Erald Ylli damn, you've sold me, i'll check it out as well. thanks pirrbro :P
Yo, it's the BroMaster!
Napoleon campaign!!?? Really good idea :D! great video as always!
***** I have some things to teach you about reincarnation my child
Yesssss!!!! Been waiting a long time for this!!!
+Sagar Deshpande Hope you enjoy it!
Sweet, Heir! I guess you must have seen my comment the other day that asked for some throwback Total War... I appreciate it man! I'm excited for what's to come!
+CoDWikiTMOI Lots of folks were asking, wanted to get this in before Warhammer :)
Nice campaign Hier, love you're vids!!!!!!!
If you want to refer to the money as something else than "money" Austria, Saxony and Bavaria adopted same monetary system in 1748 (which lasted till 1855) which was based on silver standard. So to make it easy for you, I think you should refer to the money as Florints.
Austria? Leiwand! Für den Kaiser und das Reich!
Glad to see Napoleon Total war isn't off the map.
ROT WEIß ROT BISS ZUM TOD
I like the idea of being able to threaten as part of diplomacy and would like to see something like that in Warhammer 3... especially if you could also do a greater version of that as a “war ultimatum”, where for example you could demand that a faction break an alliance with another faction and if you added the war ultimatum to that then you would automatically declare war if they refused and they would know that when deciding how to respond.
Woohoo Napoleon campaign!! Thanks
+BanditoPlays Hope you enjoy!
The French didn't backstab Bavaria, you just missed the confederation of the Rhine event that happens on turn 2. It makes France annex both Bavaria and Württemberg in the coalition campaigns.
+ForgottenHarbour Got it. Thanks!
The armed citizeny push on front-line made sense, and plus your men were between the cannons and the threat!
Nice! Looking forward to this campaign
+Drift wood Thanks, hope you enjoy it!
so the reign of the patchburgs begins?
yes xD
+Alex Sitaras Yes indeed
HeirofCarthage this is a very good game I like learning about him in class I am French British Russian and American
am looking forward to this lp :)
+Vin100z Thanks, hope you enjoy it!
back in Napoleon total war what what? nice
Thanks!
HeirofCarthage too bad Empire causes you so much problems with the DMC claims I know you have tried these campaigns many times too. But it is good to see NTW again I loved the old school MP battles too.
HAhaha "Fire please!" Annoyed but still polite Heir is the best Heir.
I'm french and hearing you pronounce some unit names is hilarious ;)
This new campaign looks awessome tho ^^
+Pwatypus I am sure I sound pretty moronic trying to pronounce French. Glad I can provide the entertainment for you ;)
Actually it's pretty good but the way you say chasseurs a cheval is awesome ;)
Well this is a nice change, eager to watch :)
+Vulcan Joe Yea, should be a fun throw back.
I am hyped for this series!
+noetics Thanks, hope you enjoy!
Thanks for responding.
It's weird to see Mack as something other than a complete incompetent
+DefinitelyNotYakra This is the most true statement on this video.
Average foot artillery weighed near a full tonne on the light side and two tonnes on the heavy side...so...yeah, they're gonna be slow.
It has been a while but, Heir's Kill Count: 3,350
+Max Tomson Thanks! Need to get that higher.
No problem, I finally have started to get more free time and I wanted to get back to the kill count, and I look forward to getting it higher
Yaaaay, Napoleon campaign!
+clepto475 Thanks hope you enjoy it
this will be fun to watch
+antitroller101 Hope you enjoy it!
HeirofCarthage Can, always and will continue to partner
I've never played or watched napoleon tw videos so this should be pretty fun, cant wait for you to beat the shit out of the evil ottoman empire
very cool campaign ,man
If you hit the > button in Empire while looking at a building you can roll through all the small buildings to check for upgrades.
+Canucklug Thanks
I've gotten on a Napoleon kick recently and realized I'm terrible at the land battles. Hopefully this helps me improve.
You know Heir you should probably try XCOM2 when it comes out (Feb 5th). It is turn based squad strategy, and I think you might really like it.
+hanky poop Haven't ever played XCOM
One day they'll make empire total war 2 and it will hopefully bring all the new mechanics from attila and rome 2 into it. I really find it hard to go back a title in total war because they've improved a lot of details in handling and UI that makes it so much easier to control your empire. Looking forward to the campaign nonetheless. :)
+Jonto088 I hope the make empire 2
I still maintain that Napoleon is the best TW simply because line infantry and cannons are AWESOME.
+HitchensImmortal From a singleplayer standpoint it was outstanding.
+HitchensImmortal I like the mechanics or ETW better as well as the map, but this game gets the effects and music right.
+HeirofCarthage There is one thing of epic badassery that Empire lacked though... Napoleon :)

It was interesting listening to Heir in his official Grouch mode on this video... lol
+HeirofCarthage I just watched the first battle you do and saw the part where the enemy cavalry charges you. If no one's told you, having your men in square formation would have really made the charge turn out more in your favor.
P.S. love your vids :3
Did you turn the music off? all the in game sounds seemed very quiet too :/
Convert secret society to universities to get tech done.
+Wong Christian True
I swear the Holy Roman Empire disbanded by this point.
I'd be stoked to see you play the Ottomans some more. Gotta love the Beast from the East.
Heir you should do a lets play of the brothers vs brothers civil war empire total war mod. It's an awesome mod!
Austria? Tough one. Hope you can finish it!
+Philippe Yea it will challenge me because I never really learned the best way to play campaign on this game.
Thanks hair!
Heir dude your volume levels are all over the place man. Some videos I nearly have to turn my laptop's sound up completely to hear you normally, others on that volume sound way too loud!
They need to make a Napoleon total war 2 to make good all the weaknesses of the 1st one
so much friendly fire!
Nice! Austria is an amazing empire in NTW. Personally I prefer the Prussians, due to the fact that my Landwehr and Fusiliers end up winning most of my battles.
+MrSeekerOfPeace Prussia has some good units
Patchy the austrian peasant is back huzzah !
+Dalakh Sarothal Yep :)
All those light infantry deaths to artillery friendly fire... :P
Yea... :)
Austria’s campaign is the hardest by far in napoleon
Yeah it makes great sense, that military units can't move anywhere without a general present.......
+Chrisdk23 Although I get your point regarding military units in real life, the AI in TW is so bad that forcing a general and capping army size actually forces them to use a proper army rather than non stop raiding by 2 units in 60 different places.
great choice. historical austria is underrepresented in the www
+Aranubis Thanks hope you enjoy it!
No Prussia? :( Still nice video!
YES!!!!!
+neymar Big :)
Heir would you consider doing an overhaul mod for Empire Total War? Maybe after this campaign (next month), there are some really good overhaul mods in ETW with different music so there's less of a chance of you getting copyright claim notices. Let us know, will you?
+John “Destroyer of Worlds” Rambo Possibly I will look at some
HeirofCarthage thanks
Yes my Country :D Hope you enjoy Mozart and Wiener Schnitzel :P
U should have ran this in darthmod, but still a cool throwback!
+Suey Seidl Haven't tried Darth mod
Yes! A Total War campaign about my heritage done by Heir. Do my Austrian blood right Heir. I'm sure you will.
Heir, since you're returning to Patchy's Austrian roots, could you accompany this campaign with a video or two tracing the story of Patchy, for those of us who never quite caught all the details? Codify the legend. Haha
Not a bad I idea.
Oh yes, the patchburgs return
+Charles Wimer lol
when i did a lot of trades with allies they wanted my capital and they kept saying it and if you say no you become unfriendly
that lead to the end of empires
imagine those cavalary who died on the thing in real life
well that explaigns why i get destroyed in 1805 every time
Do you really have roots in Austria? Cool series by the way!
+Swedz Not in real life that I am aware of. Just the fictional character Patchy does :) Americans should appreciate the fact that certain Austrian economist and other skilled craftsman influenced our country a great deal. Would like to see Austria one day. One of the many places I would like to visit.
Yay!!!!!!!
+joezetank :)
+HeirofCarthage I don't know why but I have such a soft spot for this time period, maybe it's the cute little outfits the soldiers have.
Austria? Hopefully I can see the air guns in action in the future.
Windbusche Jaegers :)
+HeirofCarthage Ja, das ist der Name. May we see the day that you snipe down old Nappy with those bad boys.
omg yes never stop austria
+Ryan Robbins Hope you enjoy!
Hey HeirofCarthage, will you be playing the Total War: Warhammer once it's out?
+Grayfox0123 Sure will
Empire Total War must be Ottoman next time lol, Heir!
Hi Heir, is this a vanilla campaign? Cause I'm planning to buy my second total war game. :)
buy Napoleon tw it is the best of the serie :)
+Glen Chen Yes. This is the original game.
HeirofCarthage Thanks Heir!
I'll be keeping up with them :)
How many of these austrian campaign videos will come out every week?
7:30 Brice Molyneux! xD (Wonder if he's related to Stef)
also good video
She was pretty silent, that adviser lady at the beginning. Don't really matter of course.
I always wondered why one couldn't reorganize unit cards in the older games...
+kalamaron i Yea so many derpy controls have improved, wish they would patch them backwards.
Patchy is a Polish-Lithuanian nation ,war hero and patriot....................and time travellar
There is no music in the background? All I can hear is your computer fan. Not a big deal, though I wonder if you can mod in music or something if the main soundtrack is copyrighted.
+hanky poop Not sure why it didn't show up. Think it was a game glitch. I will check.
I don't think the fire at will/cease fire button works...at least I've never gotten it to work :P
+ceasarromane777 It may not
Grenades? Grenades??!! Grenadiers in this period were elite infantry, but they did not use grenades. There were no hand grenades in battles. I was thinking of getting this game, but I guess I won't. Sheesh.
Hey Heir have you played the Medieval Kingdoms 1212 AD Mod for Attila?
+John Mousley Nope I will check it out.
just wondered, a couple of other youtubers recently starting posting stuff about it
Were you actually born in Austria? Or just your elder relatives?
I always play as Russia, at this point I control all Russia, all Sweden, all Greece (Ottoman Empire), 2 cities in Austria which I took from France And three Islands in the Mediterranean! (I also hate when the woman constantly reminds you of free farmland)
I didn't really like empire because of the lack of unit diversity, but i will watch the shit out of your campaign :D
+Márton Sinte Darth Mod
i never understood why the map for napoleon was so ridiculously small... it gets on my nerves we can't have a magnified map of Europe, North Africa, Scandinavia, Russia, Anatolia and the Middle East.
+Side Tracker Yea I don't know. Could have been some cool alternate history scenarios if they included the Americas, Africa, Middle East and so on.
+Side Tracker They should have included a campaign for the Latin American Wars of Independence, but sadly they didn't :(
Uhhh you missed mecklenberg right off the bat for trade agreements. Come on man lol
Always do
+Ian Fyfe :)
I am playing this campaign Austria and found it harder to play with the British Empire, Prussia and Russia....
Cities make little money even improving roads, industry and farms ..
What should I do?
Which one do you prefer between empire and Napoleon?
+Anthony Tam ETW for the most part. NTW has way better effects.
Hey Heir! Sorry I haven't been watching your videos as much lately...I found your East Rome Campaign really boring and haven't been able to finish it. Nice to see you doing a new NTW campaign for the first time in ages!
Got erhalte den Kaiser!
+Jan Ledvinka :)
