    Most hit batsmen in baseball are not intentional, but sometimes they are. If they are, they'll be aimed for the back or some other non-vital area not likely to cause serious harm. For example, they would not intentionally throw a fastball at the head. To add to this, sometimes pitchers pitch inside just to get a batter to back off the plate without the intent to hit them, but hit them anyway. Even for accurate pitchers, sometimes your release point gets off and you throw a very wild pitch by accident.

  • @user-rf1ty3gs8p
    @user-rf1ty3gs8p Před 11 měsíci +8

    You are correct Daz. These pitchers are so accurate these days that getting hit by a pitch is rare. If it happens more than once and its the same player getting hit by the pitch, its intentional.

    The most impressive thing about Ben Watson's chasedown tackle at 11:53 is that he was on the opposite side of the field from the interception. So he was a big bulky Tight End running 120 to 130 yards to chase a speedy defensive back and STILL managed to do it. The Patriots still lost that game so it doesn't get talked about as much as it should but it's an all-time great play imo
    EDIT: Same with Don Beebe's play in the very next clip. That was a Super Bowl that the Bills lost 52-17 but it's still a classic hustle play

    7:36 the chin guard you see a lot of batters wear on their helmets was made famous when Giancarlo Stanton got hit in the face by a pitch and has worn that guard ever since. In the video, years later, it’s the same pitcher that hit Stanton that threw up and in again so Stanton was upset because the trauma is still probably very relevant for him.

  • @ericwilliams8420
    @ericwilliams8420 Před 11 měsíci +2

    Daz is pretty much spot on. It's all in the situation and intent when guys get hit by baseballs. Like Daz said there are situations where guys get hit by balls standing too close to the plate (They call standing too close "Crowding the Plate"). Remember these guys have thrown baseballs around for their entire lives and have supreme control of where they're throwing that ball. When they miss very badly like that it was intentional and there's probably some background drama behind why they're throwing the ball at the other team.

  • @g3ntry107
    @g3ntry107 Před 11 měsíci +1

    The baseball incident at around 8 minutes has a little history behind it. The batter Gincarlo Stanton was hit in the face several years prior by the same pitcher (it wasn't intentional but it ended Stanton's season - I believe it knocked out a substantial amount of his teeth actually). The pitch that hit him in this clip was not intentional either but probably brought back some bad memories and mixed emotions for Stanton. That is why he got upset and started saying stuff. Stanton then took Fliers deep the next at bat.
    Also, the first baseball clip was of the batter Alex Rodriguez being intentionally hit by the rival Boston Redsox. Alex was suspended the previous season for steroid reasons and most of the league didn't take too kindly to that fact. So, they tried to hit him, missed, and then hit on the next pitch.

    If you get hit by a pitch you get first... it's called HBP (Hit By Pitch).... but in that Bautista clip he wasn't hit... the ball went behind him so he doesn't get the base. But throwing behind a batter is usually always on purpose.

  • @hifijohn
    @hifijohn Před 11 měsíci +1

    Yes if you get hit by the pitch you go to first base, also scores usually single digits,if it goes double digits it stays low 15 would be a very high score ties are not allowed, and theyre called runs not points.

  • @AceManning18
    @AceManning18 Před 10 měsíci +1

    And btw Aidan when a pitcher hits a batter with a fastball it is almost certainly on purpose. If they throw a curve or something sometimes it gets away from them yes. But these guys have been throwing a ball into a 2x1 foot box for decades they don't miss that badly. Especially when the ball has no movement on it at all.. just a straight fastball . That clip of A rod getting hit was definitely on purpose.
    It isn't like a random guy like you or me throwing a pitch.. they can locate their pitches within centimeters of where they want it 90% of the time.
    Normal baseball score is about 4-5 runs per team. But because there is no clock or anything it could end up being 10 or 20 just depends on the game and the teams playing.

  • @AceManning18
    @AceManning18 Před 10 měsíci

    The Ben Watson chase down was an incredible play (broncos vs Patriots clip) but I don't agree with it being in this video. It isn't karma or revenge really .. it isn't like Champ Bailey wasn't hustling or had done anything to show up the Pats. He just didn't see Watson and Watson ran his absolute hardest and made an incredible stop. Just a good hustle play from an underrated player. Idk just doesn't fit with the rest of the video. If Bailey had showboated like Watkins in the first clip it would make more sense. He just genuinely thought he was home free and didn't realize he needed to run his absolute hardest STILL.
    And no it wouldn't have been a touchdown. Your entire body can be in the end zone if the ball itself doesn't cross the line you haven't scored. And when it goes out the endzone like that its called a touchback (same as when they kick off and it goes out of bounds or the returner takes a knee) and New England retains possession albeit back at their own 20.
