    This video is incredibly helpful!! Thank you so much for going through each course and explaining what to expect. As I'm researching which RN-BSN program to choose, it's frustrating trying to compare programs when I don't know what to expect in terms of the courses or workload. I wish programs would explain this on their websites so students know! Your breakdown of each course's assignments and level of difficulty has inspired me to apply for Capella's program. I really appreciate your video!

      @veryvanessa  Před 4 lety +3

      There are step by step instructions on the website creation. The PowerPoints are pretty easy, write the paper first and then create a PowerPoint with bullet points. Add a title and reference page. The video is kind of intimidating but pretend you’re giving a presentation to a class or group of people. For the video presentations I’d create the paper first and then read the paper word for word on video.

      Why didn’t you use tuition reimbursement through your employer?

  • @Whitneyxadams
    @Whitneyxadams Před 2 lety +1

    Hey! I tried looking everywhere for this answer (maybe I missed it). Why was financial aid a mess for you at Capella? I currently get financial aid for my ADN program. I graduate in May 2022, and I’m looking apply to Capella. While Capella is affordable than most RN to BSN programs, I still want to look for aid.
    Another question I have is I heard at WGU they only have pass/fail and not a GPA scale (well they have one but it’s an automatically 3.0 when you pass). Is this the same for Capella? I don’t want to narrow my chances at advancing my education because of this.
    Hopefully, you’ll see this and reply. Thank you.

    • @veryvanessa
      @veryvanessa  Před 2 lety +2

      Hey! So I qualified for tuition reimbursement through my employer. I finished my degree in 2 terms and my degree was withheld for 6 months because my employer did not approve my reimbursement. So unfortunately…… I ended up making payment instalments until my degree was paid off. Thankfully I still received the discount but there were some things I did not know about regarding financial aid until the last minute. My advice is to ensure you’re following up with financial aid AND the billing department at the start of each term. They will let you continue taking your courses but if there’s a balance not paid you won’t be able to collect your degree.

    • @veryvanessa
      @veryvanessa  Před 2 lety +2

      And no the difference with Capella is your competencies transfer into letter grades when it’s time to advance further. There are many graduates who obtained a 4.0 and went onto further their education with no issues.

      @@veryvanessa Thanks alot! Because I'm wanting to get my PMHNP! Both schools Im looking at are competitive and want either a 3.0 or 3.2 minimum for my last 60 or so hours. Im a full-time PCC RN on inpatient rehab 6 of the 14 days I work, a father of an autistic son, have a grandson, and my wife is currently out of work d/t covid-19. I talked to the Georgia Southern program director and She said that since I went to the Best ADN school in the state even with my low undergrad gpa of 1.97, that they see I attempted to learn and not just pass the class. She said I would still need 3 recommendation letters from higher up health professionals and submit my personal written letter that would help my case to get in. She also stated that they can take WGU grades, that it would be better to get actual grades that show a trend upwards in grades after during undergrad school.

    I’m not scared of writing papers or completing some of these assessments. However, what I am scared of is choosing a professor that is very tedious when it comes to grading. I know this BSN program comes with putting in hard work, so I am not asking for a slap on the wrist. Perhaps you may suggest professors that are easy going? Or maybe even make us aware of professors not to choose for courses?

It’s so much reading to sort through to be able to compose a paper that would be graded appropriately.. it’s extremely time consuming & I really hate it. I’ve tried so many ways to avoid spending too much time on an assessment, and it’s like right when I try to be quick and to the point, I get such poor grades... you really have to put a lot of time into it.
