- As part of the Qatar India 2019 year of culture, Naveen Kumar performed Music of Bollywood with Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra sponsered by the Embassy of India in the 8 Feb , 2019 in Qatar National Convention Center - Almayasa theatre.
This is a performance of the famous song by the grammy winning music director A.R.Rahman, called the Cry of Rose from the movie Roja(1992) I feel privileged to have played for this wonderful movie then and feel thrilled every time I perform it.

Roja was my first bought album...I was around 3-4 years old bengali kid...didn't understand the lyrics...but listened to it everyday...bdw it was the first hindi song album in our home...and suprisingly, my father who wasn't fond of hindi music, loved it to the core.

I was five when my parents took me to watch Roja....didn't understand much...but the music stuck...and it was years later,that I finally found A.R.Rahman and his music...no one can replace his music as my favourite!!!...I was sooo angry when the terrible 'Humma Humma' remix came out...one reason I am relieved with A.R.Rahman's music is that his music is so unique that even though one can cover it...it's real hard to remix...said so,whenever I miss the glorious 90's...I turn to Rahman and his music magic!!!

My Ex Tamilian colleague tortures me with Tamil songs ( Ileyraja, A.R.Rehman and some others). First when we worked together and now when he comes for an overnight stay at my place. This has been going on for 4 years but when I am back in Goa, I start singing those Tamil songs. A beautiful language and I grew up singing songs in over 6 different languages right from age of 4 or 5 and Tamil was one of them.
This is one the most beautiful music ever composed and still fresh.

This was Rahman's best. I think he couldn't outdo the bar he had set for himself later in his career. I remember listening to Roja music 10 years back when I got to know Rahman's music via Slumdog millionaire. The sounds and the instrumentation of Roja were magical and unlike anything I had ever heard.
