- In this video, we show you how to make this super easy and natural lemon balm salve. It can be used as a lip balm or for insect bites, cuts and scrapes. I also go over which oils to add depending on what benefits you want, including a great healer for cold sores. Ingredients below.

For this recipe you will need:
Dried lemon balm
Olive oil
Bees wax (or soy wax)
Jojoba oil
Other oils optional as described in the video - Jak na to + styl
I used 1/4 cup of my lemon balm infused olive oil combined with 7g of bees wax. It made exactly 6, 1/2oz little containers of the lip balm. Thank you!
(I also infused some calendula with the olive oil and lemon balm)
That's brilliant 💚
Thanks for sharing! There may be several steps in the process but I think the “juice is worth the squeeze.” That lip balm looked brilliant.
We’ve recently decided as a family to move from the city that we’ve called home for 30+ years. It’s a beautiful city in Washington state but it’s getting ever more crowded. As my husband and I get older we find we’re nostalgic about the smaller, rural setting we experienced as kids. And I’d really like to try my hand at veg, herb, and medicinal gardens. Your channel is informative and fun. And inspirational. I’m getting lots of ideas with every video!🙂 Thanks for sharing. Blessings and wishes for good health to the whole family!👍🙂
Ah what a lovely comment, thank you so much 🥰 I hope you find a really lovely home in the countryside and enjoy growing your own veg and herbs. There's really nothing like the taste of home grown 💚
The lip balm has been really lovely for both Rose and me. It's one we will definitely make it again and I'm so glad you like our videos, thank you for watching, it means a lot.
X Karen 🌼
Always interested in ways to use up all my lemons!🍋
This is for the herb lemon balm 😉x
Thank you🌱💗
Thank you for watching Stephanie 🥰
❤🎉😂thx so much.will do the same.
Cool video, quite relaxing actually 🙂🙂
Thank you Ashley 💚
I've got lemon balm drying as I write this. Once I've let it infuse, I am most definitely going to make this. Our winters are cold & this will be quite handy. Thank you!
That's great to hear. Lemon balm can get enthusiastic when it grows so it's good to have some recipes lined up! Do come back and let me know what you think of the lip balm 💚
And if you still have an excess of lemon balm, let me know if you'd like a recipe for ice cream which is heavenly 😁

I am in South Africa. I dried my home grown Lemon Balm and it has been infusing in Jojoba oil for 6 weeks. Tomorrow I am going to make a salve. I want to add Frankincense to it. How many drops of the essential oil would you add to half a cup of infused oil? I have some lovely beeswax from a local bee keeper. Thank you so much for this video!
Hi Kathy, lovely to hear from you. I would add 6 drops of frankincense as it can be quite strong. Stir in well see what you think. It's easy to add more if you want.
Congratulations on finding local beeswax too 💚
@@rosesallotmentadventures9365 I want to make my own lemon balm lip balm as I suffer badly from cold sores, I don't have lemon balm growing in my garden due to the time of year, although I will grow it come spring.. I see I can buy it of the internet already dried would this be ok and what sort of amount should I order weight to achieve the amount of oil you produced.. thank you for your time . Mark
I bet it smells great
Hi Helen, yes it smells lovely and it's done wonders for my lips which always suffer this time of year x
Fantastic !!! Ooooo you is giving me ideas now lol xox
Hey Pam thank you for watching 💚
I can almost smell that and as soon as my lemon balm increases I'll have a go at making some. X
Hi Cherie
It is a bit of an odd time for making a video on lemon balm salve but it was delayed from the autumn 🙈
I love the smell of lemon balm too 💚🥰
My friend sent me some she made, its amazing. Thank you for showing us Karen. Hope ye are all well..
Hi Lorraine, I'm so pleased you have a friend who sent you some, how lovely of her!
We are all well thank you. I hope you are too? 🥰
@@rosesallotmentadventures9365 good to hear, ya all good here too. Mild weather is great for getting outdoors thankfully.
@@LorraineG123 hopefully you'll be on your plot soon 💚
@@rosesallotmentadventures9365 won't be long before we get back, thanks Karen.
Thank you for this lovely recipe. I just love lemon balm. The scent is gorgeous. I am thinking that you could maybe blend two herbs together such as lemon balm and peppermint or rosemary. You would then get the benefit from two herbs. Anyway, well done on the video. You explained it very well and your voice is so soothing.
That is an excellent idea. I particularly like the idea of rosemary, a other great herb. Im a big fan of lemon balm myself and have a recipe for lemon balm ice cream on here too. It's divine 😋
@@rosesallotmentadventures9365 That sounds very yummy!

This sounds great. I grow a lot of Lemon balm at my garden for teas, and just this Christmas I made an organic Calendula skin balm as presents for my family. willl have to try this as soon as I can. what program do you use to print your labels? it would be good to do that as well.
Hi there
I think I used the Avery label software, otherwise just mocked something up on word, nothing fancy.
If you have lots of lemon balm, check out my other lemon balm recipes 💛💚
Beautiful! At 9:14 you mentioned an oil for cold sores, could u please tell me what that was? TY 💛 🌱 💚
Its L-lycene. You can get it from health food shops. You could also try tea tree oil if you can't find L-lycene
Thank you. One other Q. What size time did you use, 1 Oz or?
Could you take the dried leaves and put it in a double boiler with the olive oil for a few hours? I saw that method on another video for plantain salve, but I am not sure if it carries over to lemon balm?
Yes you can use the double boiler method. Keep the heat low and keep checking that your water hasn't evaporated.
Let me know how you get on 💚
@@rosesallotmentadventures9365 Thanks so much!
How do you get the bees to make those little pellets 😂😂😂. But really this is very nice I love lip balm 🥰 be safe
🤣🤣🤣
They're very well trained bees 😂
Special cure thanksgiving to #Doctorojie Channel for helping me cure my herpes
So i read drying out in the oven (Electric) just place on a tray and leave in the oven with just the light on for 24 hrs? Is that right?? And can you use johnsons baby oil?
You may find that the flower heads will go to the white puffy stage if you dry them out in the oven light. Have a practice with one and see how you go.
You will need a more neutral oil than Johnsons. Use olive oil or failing that, a sunflower oil if you can't get olive oil.
Hope that helps 😊

Thank you 😁
Is there anything different you need to do when you put it in tubes instead of tins?:
Do you tubes that you twist up, like a lip balm? I've not tried using those so you may need to adjust the butter and wax to the right consistency. You may need it a little stiffer
So not possible to make it with fresh herb?
Using dried ensures that there's no moisture left which can go mouldy.
You can easily hang the herb up to dry.
