Have you ever wondered what it is like to own a old Toyota Campervan? in this video I talk about what it is like to live in and drive one of these old RVs, the pros and cons and some tips I have on how to keep it running well.
I personally love our motorhome and even when we buy a homesteading property I have no plan on selling it, in fact I would love to keep it for a long time and eventually gift it to my kids.

Just purchased a 1991 Toyota Itasca TODAY!
I bought a 1989 Toyota dolphin RV, six-cylinder, last weekend. They look pretty much the same.
@@burly636 funny, I too bought a 1989 Dolphin v6 last weekend. And what a pile it is!! Rot rot and more ROT lol.
Your words were like a beautiful story to me. I really got the feeling you have about your home. You described it so well. To have everything with you at all times felt so satisfying and secure. I really got that and it felt amazing. I've never had the desire to be on the road like you, but I can see it can be extremely satisfying and rewarding. Thank you, Forrest Stevens! You seem in love with your life.
They’re dreamy vehicles. Ive got a 88 Sunrader which I adore.
Wow, this was awesome to watch! Such a raw perspective on RV life. 🙌🏽
Waiting on good news. Living different lifestyles will help you appreciate more what each one can offer. I'm sure you will share those when the time is right.
Absolutely!
Epic brother! here with ya, love it!
Thanks man!!
I realize Im quite off topic but do anybody know of a good website to stream newly released movies online ?
Wow! We love this! Just started on the road with our ‘87 Toyota Escaper recently this is super inspiring 😍.
Thanks but still don't know what it's like to drive or live in a Toyota motorhome. How does it pull the hills? Does it sway? How many miles per gallon? What's the small shower like? So much that could have been covered but was not.
2 years later...It gets up any hill albeit slowly. VERY slowly lol. 8% grade not too bad. More than 8% grade and you're in 2nd gear at 35-40mph tops! Sway? Nah depends on how much you are traveling with so pack light. 12mpg for me with the 3.slow v6 keeping it around 60mph. 65+ it drinks fuel. The shower? Well, I'm only 5'6" and its tight. Love this little rv!
@@derekbizoddy6210 Thanks.
The prophecy came true

Yes my brother, I'm right there with you! Blessings
AWESOME MAN! I wish you both a ton of luck in your next adventure! Keeps us posted! PEACE!
Thank you!
Damn started watching this video just because I’m thinking of living in one at an Airbnb for a few months while I do an internship for the Forest Service. But you talking about permaculture at the end made me subscribe. Good luck brother
Hey Forrest my name is Forrest also and I just bought an 87’ Toyota Dolphin. I stumbled on your videos, when trying to convince my wife that this thing was a good idea to buy lol. We have enjoyed watching. I’d love to talk shop sometimes about the motorhome. Trying to decided on solar setup/ generator etc.
I like your dance moves :)
I usually use overdrive when I'm on the freeway, above 45MPH. For around town driving, I have it in regular drive.
Loved your video! Blessings 🙏
Can't wait !
Me too!
Love love love this channel bro I can't get enough so interesting positive incredibly beautiful people bro you both have the most beautiful and amazing life.
Thank you! We are blessed with our ability!
I never knew the 22R's had that much power to move something like this around. Shout out to those engines
they are pretty impressive thats for sure!
Awesome ride! This is my idea of what a class c motorhome should be.
Very cool video
Thank you
Awesome motorhome .
That steering wheel cover though eh?! Thanks I appreciate the video, I'm moving into my dolphin tomorrow
Golden voice!
Over drive is for anything over 45😂.going downhills cut off it acts like a break anything over 50.22re engines are like marines they just dont die just keep going and getting better with time.i hade same but mine was 5 speed aftermarket.70 all day 2500rpm fully loaded 16 mpg.of coarse i used a k&n and royal purple oils.503,875.5 last i seen it sold to a friend. Still going strong
I would love it if you went step by step on the hook-ups and how all that works. Also about off grid. I just bought a 1987 Toyota Dolphin that is virtually in original shape, barring the recent hail damge to vent covers and two windows that got allowed me to buy is for such a good price. I have many questions about using the propane heater, fridge, and stove for the first time. Do you only get things going when you are parked on level ground, for instance? I heard this on another channel. Your down-to-earth approach to the subject would be very welcome on this subject and a help to many.
Just spent $2000.00 having my Toyota Mini Cruiser RV engine overhauled and rear airbags installed to lift the rear bumper and make it more aerodynamic. Guess I'd better start using it, instead of parking it in the driveway. LOL
I need an updated review with the soaring gas prices
Just like our #matildaitasca we had a few years ago in MT.. NOW back in #roundaustraliawithspelio
Sooo right
We just got ours in Calgary where we live. We still have to wait to test this beauty. It's like yours, a Toyota Warrior Winnebago 1993. Thanks for the tips for applying the overdrive. Wonder how much rpm will resist the engine ? (6 cylinders, 3 lts.). Also it might be slower than newer cars up on the hills ?
I own a 1985 Toyota RV with a 4 cyl engine. Going up a grade most anything can pass me. A 3 speed Auto trans with O/D and it has extra radiator coolers for A/C, transmission and of course engine. I use the 3 speed Auto just as I would a standard transmission. 0 to 35 first gear, up to 55 second gear, 3rd gear up to "zero to 60mph" eventually! I only push it to those speeds in those gears on hills or if necessary. Most of the time it's a slow old ride that I love and hope it lasts until I can't drive anymore. I'm 43 yrs older than my Toyota RV truck.
The running gear has proved to be in great shape, no problems in all the years I've owned it. The house is also in good shape. It's 43 years old so of course you have to spend money to maintain it.
I had a choice, buy new and make monthly payments for some years or buy older used and do upkeep as needed or scheduled. I choose older/used and am very happy with my very dependable 1985, 4 cyl, 21 Ft., home on wheels. Kitchen works, bathroom works, dinette/full size bed works, loft works, it could use a larger closet but the rest of storage is okay.
Overall, out of 100% I'll give it a 93.5% of perfect for me "as is." MPG is 9 to about 14, it's pushing a lot of wind and pulling a lot of pounds with four little mice!
Can you re gear the rear axle?
so when did you Paint everything inside...white/
Ain't interested in this but was talking about a toy camper as my bro lives in one just prof there listening
Maybe Google was listening or maybe it was fate!!
Hey i have basically this same motor home and i can’t figure out how to get the water to work. i’m hooked up to a city water supply but the sink still won’t turn in. Do you know why? This motor home is so rare that i can’t find like any info on it.
hmm interesting, best to follow the plumbing all the way while its connected, maybe you are loosing water pressure at some point along the lines, that can happen if the pipes froze and broke or something like that
Your red cat looks just like my alpha male Leonardo. I'd like to do what you do. God willing it won't just end up another broken dream I conjure up.
I need one where do I get one
We found ours on Facebook market place. They are old so look in areas of your country that still has old cars, west coast of Canada for us as they don't salt the roads as much.
I'm thinking about selling my 2016 Rv to get a Toyota rv because I literally get like 9 miles per gallon average. Only 10 on the highway really
Yes, it is really bad now in Canada with high gas prices. Making me think again about owning one of these.
This is super inspiring! I hope to get a Toyota campervan at some point. 🙏♥️🏔
ps. my best friend’s name is Emily and her husband’s name is Forrest!
