There is SO much inspiration to be had from watching videos by Julia. It’s amazing how she uses common ordinary things that we all have in our stashes to make beautiful functional items. She is my favorite crafter and I’ve learned so much about using your imagination by following her. I’m thankful she shares her secrets and talents with us. TU Julia!
Julia👏👏👏 that is fantastic!

What a fun tote…bravo Julia for sharing this fun project! I have a couple of similar tote bags that I never use because of the advertising on them. I never would have thought to use them as a base layer for more attractive fabrics. I’ll be looking for the cacti at dollar tree too, because I live in the southwest, and I know my Mom would love a bag like this to take to her trips to the doctor. I always love to see how your creativity inspires my own, so thanks again for sharing how you did this project.
Thank you so much for watching and commenting!
How fun! 🌵 You did a beautiful job, Julia! 😊👍🏻💯

That turned out great!!!
Thank you!
You took the tote to a whole new level. Whoever receives it will love it. Have you ever gone to a furniture store and asked them if they had any old swatch books? I am a teacher and have used these furniture fabric swatches for art/craft projects. Just a thought. Thanks for sharing your expertise!
Hi, Someone sent me a box of upholstery swatches and they're the best! I will be asking furniture stores for more when my stock depletes. I love using reclaimed fabrics!
The bags are gorgeous! You have such a good eye for putting fabrics and embellishments together🥰
Thank you so much!
Fabulous make 🥰
Thank you so much!
Beautiful, it came together so nicely. Love the warm colors. I really need to get some inktense pencils.
Inktense pencils are an investment but so much fun! Thanks so much for watching, Julia
Thanks Julia! I just finished one of these totes. I used all repurposed fabric including denim for the outside which had to be pieced. Looking forward to making my next one. Thanks again.
I'm so glad you are making some totes. I am really enjoying using a purchased tote for the base. It's so much fun adding the repurposed fabrics etc. Have fun!
I love the look you created here. And who doesn’t love cactus?!
Thank you so much for watching. I love cactus!
Thank you for sharing your talent. The bag is awesome.

Thats NICE Julia! I have some smaller bags I bought secondhand and now I can really make them custom thanks to your imagination and this great video!
Thanks again! I cant wait to try this! 🎉
Those metal cactus thingies are cool! I'm in Az too, so I hope my local Dollar Tree has those. ☺️
Brenda 🌵
HI Brenda! Thanks so much for watching. Using an existing tote really saves time. I'll have to be on the lookout for them at the thrift stores and yard sales.
That tote is terrific! My quilt guild has broken up for the summer. We were given a challenge of a black non woven tote to decorate over the summer. I thought of opening mine up like that and now that I have seen you do it, I definitely will. Great minds think alike!!
If you have a chance, could you respond with other challenges your quilt club has done in the past. I'm part of the education committee and need an idea for next year. Thanks so much! Julia
@@stitchesbyjulia Last summer was the first challenge. We were given a cute paper bag with 2 coloured markers in it. We had to do whatever we wanted with those 2 colours in it. Mine were blue and orange. I did a lake that I needle felted and had an orange canoe tied up to the dock. Then in Sept we showed them. There were all kinds of projects, aprons , mini quilts, art pieces etc. I belong to a small group of friends and we also did a challenge. Each month one woman gave a topic and we made a little piece . We had water, music, houses, metal etc. I was making mine into a book but haven’t finished yet. Also at the guild, someone teaches a block, gives out the pattern and the size of the block. There may be a piece of fabric for background or just a colour choice. The blocks are turned in and at the June meeting the names of the participants are in a “hat” and whose ever name is drawn wins them.
Hope this gives you some ideas.
Totes are all great, I love your cactus plants and pots. Thanks for sharing.❤️❤️
