    I married into a Greek family. I've made pastitsio and spanakopita a few times for our son who loves Greek food. I have ALS and want to leave him with the most traditional Greek recipes I can find on the Internet. I found your video baking with your mom. She's the real deal! (No disrespect to you.) I so appreciate watching you make these recipes and will pass on each to my son and granddaughter. Thank you!!!

Making some today, got my ingredients ready and today I’m trying Christine’s recipe because we never used semolina and we also put finely chopped walnuts in the dough. Thanks Christine❤️. Many years ago when my sister was a newlywed she made a batch of melomakorouna that were talked about ever since. It took her at least 2 decades to replicate her magic. After the first time they were never as good until maybe 5 years ago. She came over and helped me make a batch for Christmas and then I did a batch on my own. They were both phenomenal! She insisted on vegetable oil, but I have no problem with the olive oil. The magic is truly in the Greek honey!

    • @ChristineCushing
      @ChristineCushing  Před 2 lety +1

      Ahh there are not silly questions. My husband keeps the extra syrup in a little jar and then heats it up and drizzles it on each cookie he's about to inhale.. ( hilarious). You can keep the syrup and bring it back up to the boil by adding some more water to loosen it up., It might start to crystalize ( common ) . I hope this helps.

    • @ChristineCushing
      @ChristineCushing  Před rokem

      Yes, by dipping hot cookies into hot syrup they absorb more of the syrup and become almost cakey. Otherwise the syrup will mostly sit on the outer edge of cookie and be more crisp inside. I hope this helps. Thank you

    I have a question on the pastry flour measuring, 3 measured cups of my pastry flour is only 320 grams, I would need at least 4 cups to get to 450 grams as per your directions. Should I use3 cups or 450 grams?

    • @ChristineCushing
      @ChristineCushing  Před 9 měsíci

      It must be the protein level in your flour , so I would say to use 450 gm, that would be most accurate. Can I ask how you measured your ingredients? Did you weigh or use cups? The weight is always the most accurate measure. Also your flour might just have less protein than the one I am using. In future, you can add just a bit more flour to make the dough a bit firmer ( 10% more ) I hope this helps as they are really phenomenal. Thank you

    I do not recommend this recipe, to crumble completely fallen apart and I used exact amounts as given 👎🏻last year I used different ratios and was perfect what a waist of product

      I'm so sorry your cookies did not work. As I have just made them this week, I am wondering how you measured the ingredients , did you use semolina, soft flour etc. ? This is a really great recipe. Thank you
