    This 1981 Datsun 280ZX Turbo is Serial No. 0001 and is presented in unrestored, highly original condition with just 31 miles on the odometer. Delivered new to St. Yves Sales in Berkley, Massachusetts, it was placed in the St. Yves Collection after undergoing a predelivery inspection. It’s finished in Code 879 Thunder Black, and the tan leather interior complements the gold trim well. Fitted with the original turbocharged 2.8L inline 6-cylinder engine and turbo-only automatic transmission, the ZX treats drivers to cruise control, headlight washers, power steering, 4-wheel power disc brakes and a 4-wheel independent suspension system. Passengers are coddled with an AM/FM/Cassette stereo with equalizer, power windows, tinted glass and air conditioning with automatic temperature control. Riding on original Bridgestone Potenza tires and gold alloy wheels, this car is accompanied by the Monroney window sticker and Turbo-model exterior badging.
    As Datsun continued to take the ZX upscale, a boost in performance wasn’t going to hurt; in fact, it stood to further the company’s technologically advanced image. So, for 1981, Datsun introduced the 280ZX Turbo and wowed the world. Typical of the ZX formula, it was exceedingly well equipped and featured a beautifully sporty look with blackout detailing, specialized wheels and unique graphics. But it was more than just sporty looking-it delivered very well. Period magazines tested the ZX Turbo, finding 0-60 MPH times in the mid 6-second range and top speeds in the 130 MPH zone, which was on par with the Chevrolet Corvette, Porsche 911 and even the Ferrari 308. On top of that, of course, it was infinitely less expensive than premium brands and required more palatable service intervals. Wearing Serial No. 0001, this 1981 Datsun 280ZX Tubro showing just over 30 miles on the odometer is a truly unique opportunity.

    Well kept low mile unrestored 280ZX Turbos have been rapidly climbing in value in recent years and this 150k price is only the beginning.
    I recall an 80 10th anniversary with about the same miles bringing over 200k last year?
    The 81 Datsun 280ZX Turbo was just above the fastest car available at the time and all you had to do was turn up the boost, open the exhaust and the car turned into a rocketship.

    I still have mine, to maintain it, its highly you maintain the steel which requires antirust and weekly check. The Turbos are in good shape, no single engine problem . With 111,111 miles, its flying

    Milestone Z. The first year 81 Turbo basically restarted the horsepower war compition. Available only with the 3 speed automatic in 81, this was by far, the fastest automatic transmission machine in the world in the early 80s. Everyone wanted to be seen in one. Untouchable. I still have my 81 Turbo, completely original except for tires and fluids, just turned 21k miles. It's part of the family, will never sell it. Too many wonderful memories.

      Apparently many disagree with you or they would not be paying 6 figures today right? 😊 Yep.. Name one automatic transmission car in 81 that could outrun it. Yep..

      it was the fastest to 60 ; no need for the auto tranny comment (as I remember from car and driver...)

      @@daniloreyes2 Why no need for the auto tranny comment? Most people are probably unaware that you could only get this car with an automatic for 81 plus the automatic still out ran the 5 speed when it was introduced in 82. You might remember the Car and Driver reports but others might not so it was a big deal.

      I had gotten my 81zxt from the original owners nephew and have every document from new. It’s got about 70k miles and mice ate the engine harness so now it has a new harness and a standalone ecu

    I bought one of these brand new. Looked EXACTLY like this one! (I had a black & silver one too. ) Wish I still had them.
    Only problem is the Turbo Chargers go out around 40,000 miles.

    Automatic?

    • @user-ku1hc7zo9b
      @user-ku1hc7zo9b Před 7 měsíci +4

      Yes an automatic only. The factory 5 speed was not strong enough to handle the power. A Borg Warner 5 speed was available in 82 but the automatic still outran the manual with ease.

    • @daniloreyes2
      @daniloreyes2 Před 6 měsíci

      well, maybe that was the excuse in the beginning. inside tip from race teams, the non-turbo 5 speed was the same used for racing. The 82 borg warner gears were too far apart, . @u1hc7zo9b

      Junk? This car was world class and untouchable when introduced. You had to be put on a waiting list to even test drive one.
