The fact that she nearly joined a super dodgy underground idol group because her brother blocked her audition to a reputable, well-known agency is so predictable. Kids are gonna chase after their dreams with no regards to anything else, provide them with proper guidance and the best environment for that, not do stuff behind their back to stop them from going after what they want.
even the big agencies will treat their idols like tools to make money nothing more than that even Ai herself was in a good agency but had a bad ending, so yeah i can relate with his decision and i think whatever the agency is the idol career is just messed up in all ways from the workers to the sick fans.
@@6msx Ai is an extreme case. The fact is being manipulative behind her back made her situation more dangerous.
If Ruby found out what Aqua was doing behind her back, she won’t have told him the next time she got scouted and would have very likely joined an underground idol group and he wouldn’t even have known. It’s like how the girl from that black mirror episode ran away from home and got into a stranger’s truck (standard formula to getting raped and murdered) because her mom was overprotective and freak out over her doing normal teenage stuff like getting a boyfriend.
No matter his intention what he did was wrong and could have made Ruby more at risk.

In regard to how Aqua is trying to protect Ruby, you're right in that his fear was absolutely a driving factor. But it kinda reminds me of an aphorism from Patton Oswald that lives rent-free in my brain: "It's chaos. Be kind."
The world will potentially throw terrible curveballs into your life, same as anyone else. That's all the more reason you have to treat others with kindness, that's at least some part of the chaos of life you can control. Aqua was being protective but sure as hell wasn't being kind.

Aqua and his sister have it because they play the role of "children" and throughout the series there will be characters with the same sparkle in their eyes, so be careful when it appears.
