The purpose of the Royal Navy today is to ensure that unlimited supplies of both people and goods can make their way, unimpeded, to the shores of our country... sorry, not our country, but rather our economic zone.
I work part time at a Dollar General as a side-gig to my main job. I find myself often explaining to customers that prices are rising due to a multiplicity of factors. All the money dumped into the M1 supply (I just say the economy) lowering the value of the dollar, the war on fossil fuels making diesel fuel insanely expensive, and the current situation in the Red Sea causing bulk carriers to either need to carry much more expensive insurance to go through the Suez Canal or take the long way around Africa which causes both delays (so lower supply for the same demand) plus additional fuel costs. To their credit, once I explain this most of them are still annoyed but aren't accusing me of trying to "price gouge" them.
@@John-Brown It gets better. When I explain that EV semi-trucks can only haul 5 tons at a time to remain within weight limits for the roads at best while conventional trucks can carry 20 tons along with the emissions required to make those massive batteries (and the delays for charging and the safety issues with EV batteries), they are horrified. When they ask me why the Government would be so wasteful, I point out that the Government once spent $300 Million dollars to develop new rifles for the military only to figure out that they could get better results just by putting scopes on the current rifle.
Would you hate your resource generators or cattle, if this was a computer game? They simply know that some dislike the arrangement. That's why they cause infighting among the cattle and sow disinformation, so the cattle herds keep fighting each other and have trouble organizing.

So what you're saying is that if we want the government to deal with the Channel boats, we need to encourage so many needy folks to come that the sheer mass of their dinghies will disrupt cargo shipping. It's a crazy plan but it might just work!
Every year the movie Network becomes more realistic. It's now just a documentary as far as I'm concerned. Who knew the line "I'm mad as hell..." would resonate so much more now than in 1976 when the movie came out. For all of it's Oscar wins it didn't win Best Picture. It lost to Rocky.
Network was more true but Rocky let people feel like even a minor win, just hanging in there and taking a beating, was a win. Rocky represents the national mood turning around to something more positive after a decade of depressing, gritty 70s cinema. Thank god for Rocky. Rocky ushered in the positive vibes of the 1980s, and it was the vibes of the 80s that continued into the 90s. We had two decades of good times thanks to the Italian Stallion.
But it wasn't a better movie. The whole idea of judging and awarding any form of art is ridiculous. Comparing a Picasso to a Rembrandt would be asinine. I used to watch the Oscars from the mid 70s when I was a kid until a couple of years ago during full TDS. I see roughly 40 to 50 movies a year and what was being nominated were art films I either never heard of or were never playing in my state. It became a joke but it always was. The year before I stated watching the Oscars the worst and most ridiculous decision was made. Awarding Art Carney the Best Actor Oscar instead of either Pacino for Godfather 2 or Nicholson for Chinatown is a joke and shoud have ended ever giving out any more awards. I agree Rocky is more hopeful but it's not in the same class as Network. The writing alone is mesmerizing. All art is subjective and awarding one over the other is perverse. It is humanity's way of getting us to pick sides. We pick sides on everything from what cereal we like to what football team we root for to which political side we think has our best interests at heart. It's all a joke like The Comedian says in Watchmen. Just keep us divided and conquered and not seeing the real enemy of the state.
Now that the global conflict is really getting into the swing of it, I'm expecting great things from your channel. You know until the press clamp downs ramp up.
@@12point131I did some napkin maths on this recently and its insane. Roughly an hour of running one F16 is equal to a year of an average car user, not including logistical support systems and weapons.
Just cruising for one hour, one F18 burns 2000 litres of JP-8 fuel. My maths says that's around $1k per hour per jet (assuming the gas is tax free). On the other hand, one tomahawk missile costs $1.9m.

Hell, the Red Sea route is shorter when traveling from Bombay to NYC. Diverting to take the Panama Canal instead adds about 1800 nautical miles and about a week to the trip assuming the ship is travelling at a constant 15 knots for the entire trip.
