  • I was lucky enough to find this beauty of a Hay-Budden anvil on Craigslist. The owner said it hadn't seen any use in the last 30 years and he'd had it the last 10 of those. In this video I'll show you some of the back story, details, and process I used to get it ready to once again do some forging.

I just got the same anvil #153 from my Dad today! He got it from his boss more than 40 yrs ago that had it in his family for decades.

Sometime the perfect tool can be in someone's back shed for years and years without it being found. I'm truly glad this has found a proper home.

Amazing coincidence! I just picked up a really nice condition Hay Budden 152 pounder in Daytona, Florida. The serial number is A33577. It was possibly made in the same week as yours. The "HAY-BUDDEN" lettering is similarly difficult to read. 👍🏼😎

I also got a hay budden from nj back in early November. The guy just wanted $650 for it but he didn’t know what type of anvil it was. The anvil’ shape struck me and I recognized it as a hay budden so I jumped on it. Almost all the letters have faded away but I can make out the production number. It’s 165lb btw

Frank Pfeiffer hi, he wanted around 1000 for it so it stayed on craigslist for awhile. I offered him $750 and he took it, not cheap but these are hard to find in good shape and prices seem to be rising. Good luck! Send me some pics I you do buy it!

I have a 154 lb hay Budden. It is 150 in their catalog by dimensions and I can barely see the one and the 5. Hay budddns are forged top and bottom. They do not use a hardened plate in the face like many other anvils. I just bought a hay Budden 300lb too

I just picked up a 125 pound hay budden at an auction for $350!! The face has a lot of pitting in it but the edges look just like yours. Instead of the top half being cast, it just has a hardened face on the top.
