What would you treat it if instead of receiving the money, you are receiving from the customer who has the debt, an equal in kind product (without cost for me) you can monetize until recouping the bad debt?

What happens to the sales we recorded but did not receive cash for?

It would remain as receivable (current asset) till we recieve cash
But if we don’t receive it for long time and it seems we wouldn’t be able to receive it then we have to write it off ( cancel )
And record it as bad debt (loss)
